A couple of the sauces were very good, sausage was great, ribs were decent. I don’t think the portions are good for the price you have to pay. I left there still hungry. You do get a free brownie if you check in on Unilocal and it was good.

The food here was fantastic. Let me tell you, we did not leave hungry. We were very hog happy. My husband got the half chicken plate and I ordered the pulled pork plate. Both were mouth watering. As other posts mentioned, there are 6 different barbecue sauces available at the table. My husband loved number 6. I mean loved, like could have drank it out of the bottle. 4 and 6 were equally my favorites! Also, make sure to check in. You get a free brownie! The staff was nice and friendly. The food was also made quickly. If you’re passing through the area, this is a definite must try!

The first thing that the cashier said as that they were out of pork. The restaurant itself was clean and well maintained. It was set up like a fast food order your tray and take it to your table. Being from Texas, I was expecting to see«pits» but there were none to be seen. The chicken I ordered was dry and bland. The potato salad was ok and the Beans were about the same. Won’t be coming back here to eat. I do have to say that the locals swear by this fast food style bbq place.

Never been here but this once and I have to say the brisket sandwich was really good. I will definitely have to come back and try the ribs! The Brisket had a really good flavor to it and wasn’t fatty or grisly, The BBQ Sauces were really good my favorite sauce was #3. The Spicer version of #2. The BBQ Beans and potato salad was really good. This gets my Texas Approval for a BBQ place in Arkansas.

I’m sorry this is not real bbq, I’m not here to bash this restaurant. Ijs this not what I’m use to. I’m from texas . When u ask for 2 meat combo u get the real deal. When u ask for pork that means ribs, country ribs Not pull pork, that’s what u make a sandwich with. When ask for beef, u get beef brisket not chopped beef that’s for a sandwich, lol. No sausage on the 2 meat Combo, omg really, no chicken, ijs just sharing my thoughts. With it all being said the good was Good, just not what I’m use to. Texas born and raised! ! No pits smoking

Fantastic! The dry rub ribs were amazing! I also tried the pulled pork and brisket. Mighty impressed. The brisket was thin sliced, I prefer chunks, but the meat was tasty. The pulled pork was cooked just right and was complemented by all the great sauces. Loved it! And the manager came over and chatted, super friendly staff. A+ Thank you for a mighty tasty meal!

The food here is so good! It’s a pretty quiet little restaurant which is nice. They’ve won awards on their BBQ and there’s no wonder why! The sides are good too!

Maybe I was expecting more since hubby raved about the ribs from past visits. And he loved the ribs tonight as well. I guess I had too high of expectations since I’d had amazing brisket in Nashville only 24 hours earlier. The brisket was sliced way too thin for my taste and lacked the fatty moistness and crispy bark that I love! The were six types of sauce. Tried the #2 and then added the #3 for a bit more kick. The potato salad was okay, more mayonnaise-y than the mustardy salads I prefer. Wasn’t a fan of the coleslaw either, it was just a bit bland for my taste. The highlight of my meal was the warm dinner roll. Beer selection was average with the normal American standards like PBR and Bud. Had a few«craft» beers in bottles as well.

1−29−16 Ordered the shredded chicken sandwich. Shredded chicken on hamburger buns and coleslaw. The chicken was pretty tender and the coleslaw was really good. The one draw back is the bun that they are using. Way to much bread, they should use regular loaf style bread(not as thick as the buns) or Texas Toast. Customer service was really good.

This place is awesome! We got the ultimate sampler pack, all the meats, but the kicker is, you have six sauces on the table so every bite is a different experience! I highly recommend it for barbecue because it’s everything in one! Plus the hospitality was off the hook from the order taker to the preparation to the manager greeting you, How a restaurant should be ran!

Perfect! Delicious pulled pork at a reasonable price. We stop here on our trips to the lake house. Order at the counter and seat yourselves. Refill your drinks. Great sweet tea. I recommend the pulled pork salad. They offer 5 different sauces. My favorite is #3. A little spicy version of Memphis bbq sauce. Great sides and deserts.

I am going to preface this review with a little personal information. I am from Savannah, Georgia and my husband is from Memphis. We KNOWBBQ. That said; You know how you always see scads of trophies and ribbons and awards on the walls at BBQ places, then you get some of the food, and you just KNOW they bought every one of those at a local trophy shop? Well, not here. This place is ah-maze-ing!!! Somehow, God did not create all Whole Hogs equally… Some are good, some are mediocre, but this incarnation of the brand is truly stellar!!! It as that«something» that the others seem to still be seeking — even the flagship location is not as good as this one. The food is super great, but I think the owner and his crew are what puts this one head and shoulders above all other Whole Hog restaurants(and Whole Hog is, as a whole, head and shoulders above other BBQ in the area.). EVERYONE who works there, from the counter person who takes your order to the bussers who offer you a refill on your drink, appears HAPPY to be there. None of that frowning and attitude so many food service workers seem to exhibit. No one is mad that they work there. No one is belligerent because you’re there. Rich(the owner) has truly built a dedicated, happy, helpful, pleasant staff. This takes the North Little Rock store from good to STELLAR in my book. I’d recommend starting at the top left of the menu board and trying EVERYTHING!!! Oh, and DEF get a brownie! *swoon*

They’re known for their smoked pulled pork and their potato salad. The pulled pork was good, but nothing as close to how amazing their potato salad was. Must try. Mayo/sour cream based… had smoked bacon bits with other seasonings. Top Shelf. The whole experience was a really A+. Gave it a 4 for it being extremely high priced for the portions you got. Spent $ 42 on 2 standard 2 meat lunch combos with 2 drinks and left kind of hungry. Otherwise Great.

My favorite BBQ place. Actually it’s the only one I’ll eat at. I’m not a huge fan off BBQ but when I do crave it, it must be whole hog! I get the pulled chicken platter or sandwich with a double side of potato salad with the number 4 sauce and ask for a volcano sauce to mix up my bites some! So so so dayum good!!! Best potato salad I’ve ever had! Ever! And the number 4 sauce kicks ass. If you like spicy ask them up front for the volcano very nice with great flavors and some spice! The people that work there are so friendly. And the owner will come out a lot of times and greet people, visit or just say hello.

I really like whole hog. It’s consistently good BBQ. Their ribs are top notch. The pulled pork and chicken are also very good. No fifth star because of their side dishes. I don’t care for their coleslaw(bland) and there’s no fried options(fries, onion rings, okra, etc.) but their baked beans are good.

About 15 years ago during my first military course at Little Rock, I asked the instructor where would he recommend for barbecue, and he said without hesitation the Whole Hog Café. It’s nice to see Whole Hog is still kicking it and holding onto their high standards. Came on a Monday, Military Appreciation Night with a discount, good deal! Ordered a brisket platter with a side of baby back ribs, with potato salad. baked beans, and corn bread on the side. That glorious barbecue taste with its char and smoke ring was still there! The barbecue was nicely seasoned and didn’t need sauce, but WH offers six different ones– it was fun to dab a little and figure out which one I liked the best. There was too much food, and I had to take about half back to the hotel as leftovers. A Unilocal check in got you a free brownie for dessert, so the total was under $ 15– great deal for the amount of food and its taste. Whole Hog is a must-stop for me whenever I visit Little Rock, definitely will repeat and recommend!

They’re friendly, they play blues, and they serve solid ‘que. What more can you ask for? They also have six proprietary sauces, seven if you include the volcano sauce they keep behind the counter(supposedly because it’s too hot to offer on tables), and eight if you also include the original Shack sauce recipe(The Shack closed down in the 50s and remains a subject of BBQ folklore, apparently). I try not to eat swine, but they have excellent brisket and chicken, and their BBQ beans are world class. I’ve been eating at Whole Hog Café for at least ten years, and will continue to do so as long as their food is this good!

Coming from San Francisco, I don’t get good BBQ very often so I wanted to be sure and take in a good local place while on business in Little Rock. Whole Hog was recommended by our business contact and their recommendation was dead on. I ordered the famous pulled pork with potato salad and baked beans as a side. Oh, you also get a tasty role to mop up the plate in case you want to be part of the clean plate club. To drink I had to go local so i ordered a Pale Ale that was on tap. I forget the name but you’ll recognize it because the beer tap has a wolf on it. My coworker ordered the baby back ribs plus some sausage. They serve all BBQ«dry» which means you can use one of the 6BBQ sauces that they have at each table to squirt as much on your meat as you like. As far as I’m concerned this is a far superior way to prepare BBQ because I often find that BBQ, and pulled pork in particular is swimming in the pre-made sauce. Service was very helpful as a clueless tourist like me was recognized as soon as I walked in the door so the staff did a great job letting me know what they are famous for(the Pulled Pork), their best sides(Potato Salad) and how much food is too much(get the Plate). Prices were very reasonable — mostly all less that $ 10. If you want a beer to wash down your meal and maybe something sweet after your feast, that might run you $ 15. Coming from San Francisco, I’d be lucky to get a burger for $ 15.

Very fast service and the food was very good but the portions were small. When I go to eat BBQ I think the implication is a gluttonous mess of meat and bones and beans and potatoes. This was not my experience with the Whole Hog. While the food was very good I was left wanting more by the time I was done. The ribs were fall off the bone and incredibly tasty but they were on the short side, the beans were very very good(again a small portion size), the potato salad was the star of the meal in both taste and portion size. The sauces available felt like a tour of BBQ joints from Texas to Memphis to Michigan. Spicy, sweet, spicier, mustard based all excellent. Don’t pass this place up, the food is excellent, just order an extra meat or side.
