Dels is one of those curiously RI institutions. Slurping from a paper cup defines a RI summer! I neither confirm nor deny any allegation of having doctored this frozen ambrosia with Stoli or grey goose or Titos.

I miss Del’s in the summer! As others have stated, Del’s is a Rhode Island classic, and this is a great place to get it. Just remember: you are in Rhode Island so don’t ask for a straw(that’s a rookie move or marks you as someone from CT).

This place is awesome! I just stopped in, only to find out it was cash only. I only had a card. The people at the window(seemed like an owner) said no problem, get whatever change you have and tell me what flavor and size you want. ‘Its a hot day out, everyone needs a frozen lemonade’ 10 stars. Will come back for sure!

Nothing more Rhode Island than a Del’s! This Del’s location is one of my favorite, never too busy, has both a drive thru and a walk up window, and the staff is sweet as can be. For those non-Rhode Islanders, Del’s is a delicious frozen lemonade concoction. The traditional flavor is lemon, but watermelon is a close second and my personal favorite is cherry. The other flavors this year are peach-mango and blueberry. Not sure what to flavor get? Ask for a sample(or 5…)! If you’re hungry as well as thirst, they have some carnival snacks(nachos and cheese, pretzels, candy etc), but the main attraction here is the lemonade. Tips: –Cash only! –They have large size(quart) containers if you’re headed to the beach/pool/bbq and want to bring a crowd pleaser. If you bring a little vodka with you as well to share spike Del’s with your guests, you will be revered! –Try mixing your two favorite flavors in one cup for a unique taste!

A friend told us «if you do anything in RI you HAVE to go to Del’s.» I am now going to pass that exact sentiment to anyone reading this review. Cash only but you’ll see why. Small little retro shack with a drive through– ordered some mini classic lemonades. SOGOOD. Fresh and light with real flavoring– not artificial and overly sweet. Immediately went back to the drive thru for round 2(cherry flave is also BOMB) and the guy gave it to us at no charge– told us to spread the word.

In a nutshell: Rhode Island classic. The taste of childhood! Pairs well with other Rhode Island treats including but not limited to: pizza strips, clam cakes and chowder, other seafood. One of the secrets is pieces of the lemon rind… so good! Oh I guess I should reiterate something that everyone eventually figures out for themselves… to advance the slushy lemonade out of the cup, fold the cup so you can squeeze it into your mouth. Recommendations: (1) get the original lemon flavor and a pretzel rod. Salty and sweet just works. The nectar and ambrosia of the gods! (2) if you are coming from the north, stop by this location on your way to Naragansett/Newport. (3) they sell a to go mix for tourists(or ex-pats), and don’t worry I believe they sell it at TF Green if you forget.

Cash only in this day in age? Don’t mix 2 flavors? Was a little disappointed. Lucky I had a $ 10 bill in visor. Cards only these days

If you’re a Rhode Islander, you know what Del’s is. If you’re not, you should definitely try it! What’s not to like?!? I don’t think it’s possible because it’s ice cold refreshing lemony goodness!!! From original to a wide assortment of flavors such as watermelon, blueberry, raspberry, peach flavor, you really can’t go wrong. Perfect in the summer heat and this location is especially perfect since it’s good pit stop on the way home from the beach.

Great location on Route 1 — especially as you’re coming back from the beaches! Plus, the drive thru is an awesome addition.

As a west coast native, it took me years(literally, 7 of them) to find you, Del’s. And now I have to say… I love you. You are wonderful. You make me forget it’s hot. You are cheap. You are everywhere. You make me happy to have some lemony goodness. You taste great with vodka. Seriously. I love you.

If you’re not from Rhode Island… you may not know Dels. While it has expended greatly in recent years, it is a ‘frozen lemonade’ which is now a Rhode Island icon. As wikipedia says: «Frozen lemonade is often compared with Italian ice or slush. It is made from crushed ice, lemons, and sugar. While«Del’s» is a trademarked brand, that is the term used to order such a beverage; rarely is it referred to as «frozen lemonade.“‘ At Del’s Lemonade of North Kingston, they also serve some food: Soft pretzels, nachos, chips and candy. There are also several flavors of Del’s: most notably being watermelon and cherry, aside from the original lemon flavor, which is still my favorite. Now, there are a couple rules to follow when partaking in a Del’s. a. no straws allowed b. no spoons allowed these are greatly frowned upon by native Rhode Islanders The shake and fold method is really the most affective. between sips, you shake your cup to regain a drinkable consistency. Then as you tip the cup back to sip you fold it while shaking, making a narrow path for the Del’s to flow into your mouth. This is to prevent the contents from falling all at once onto your face. It is a method that requires some mastering, but it is the approved method of Del’s consumption. You have not fully experienced Rhode Island until you experience a Del’s.
