Yikes! You know the movie theater nachos that you get with the liquid cheese? They serve these here. The prime rib sliders were good but unfortunately everything else was not. The ambience seemed kind of cool but we will never go back to experience the food again. You may want to look elsewhere and avoid this place all together.

My brother and I took our parents here for Mother’s day. We use to come here when we were kids for out Great Grandparents wedding anniversary(I believe their 70th was held here), birthdays and other assorted family events. We got excited over the Shirley Temple at that time. This time we spend some time in the bar waiting for our table to be prepared. We were impressed by the beer list, good variety of local and international beers, as well as the usual American lagers/pilsners. Once seated we ordered 4 chowders, 2 New England style, one Manhattan and one R.I. They were all very good and we got a kick out of the presentation of the N.E. version. It comes out in the R.I. style,(just the clear broth) but you can add your own amount of cream from the small vessel that comes on the plate. Very clever. And a Wedge salad was ordered and it was delicious. Our entrees were 2 cod, perfectly cooked with good sides. 1 hamburger, which my dad loved. My mother got cajun shrimp tacos, she really liked them with the creamy sauce and onions on them. However, she didn’t like the rice that came with the dish. It looked like something out of a box. A Mexican style rice will some peas, or tomato would have been more appropriate. I had the pork chop. It was well very well done. This can be tricky because it is thick and you want to grill marks, but you don’t want it to dry out, or under-done. I just finished it for lunch today. The main dining room could use some of the charm from the saloon room, some historic pieces, more carriage memorabilia, more wood.

The Carriage Inn lives on! Recently sold to the same folks that run Doherty’s(see my reviews) and thankfully not much has changed that I liked about this place! What has changed is that they now, boastfully on their 1A signage out front, serve food ’til 10pm which is a boon for us boaters coming in late. Also, there seems to be an abundance of staff buzzing around and that’s always a good sign. On our recent visit in April, we couldn’t get into the ‘Whiskey Bar’ so we resigned ourselves to the general dining area off to the right of the reception area. Our server was pleasant, efficient and attentive-what else could you ask for? My only advice to the new owners: expand the Whiskey Bar’s size into the banquet or secondary bar area OR make the entire restaurant look like it! Maybe save the booths, though…

My family and I were staying at the Holiday Inn my husband has training in the area… we were looking for a quick bite to eat and found this place. Traveling from out of state you never no what to expect at places that have mixed reviews but I’m so glad we visited. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive but not over bearing. Food was great my daughter had Mac and Cheese it was so yummy you can tell it was homemade I had the Chicken Saltimboca with a baked potato and veggies… it was super tasty and a good portion for the price… very filling. My hubby had the prime rib with mash and veggies it was cooked perfectly and he enjoyed every bite. Calamari for app it was well made and not soggy as sometimes it is at other places. Over all the place was more then we expected… Nice and clean… décor is inviting and on the newer end… if ever were in the area we wouldn’t think twice on where to go! Our experience was worth it after a long drive.

Disappoint was just told that they don’t serve long Island Ice Teas any more was told by the manager they had too many different alcohols and they don’t carry all the ingredients. Well if they don’t have vodka, tequila, rum, triple sec, rum, sour mix and a splash of coke they are in trouble! I guess they don’t need my money!

The prime rib is excellent, as are the prime rib sliders. The whiskey bar has a great atmosphere and is where I would recommend sitting. In winter, with the huge fireplace lit, it can’t be beaten.

Came here for my grandma’s 90th bday party, I haven’t been here in forever last time I was here they have remodeled the location with carriages up stairs. They also have a whisky bar that is very popular and good food. It’s fancier establishment more for the gentleman who enjoys a good whisky

Love this place! Yummy food and reasonably priced. Fast and friendly service. Love sitting by the fire or in the whiskey room. My parents come here all the time for date nights! The pork chops are a must. Cooked and seasoned perfectly every time! One of the only restaurants in North Kingstown worth going to!

Over priced, service was good, although it was a ghost town tonight. So it should have been good service. The calamari was rubber bands.(The bowling alley in Wakefield has better calamari!!) The Asian wings«don’t bother» again the bowling alley, wicked good at the casino in Lincoln. The pork chop meal however, was excellent. Just pricey

Bring an extra coat! There are a couple different rooms to sit in, and they are all very cold. We sat in the stone wall room and I never took off my coat. I was freezing the whole time. I walked around to see if it would be better elsewhere but it wasn’t. The menu is pretty basic. I had the risotto, which was good and it was full of flavor. So much so that I could only eat half of the half portion. Something about it was off and made my stomach hurt after a few bites. Too creamy and cheesy. The others at my table had different forms of pasta. They complained that the sauce was too sweet and almost inedible. A lot of food was wasted that night.

I rocked up with a buddy who rebuilds antique carriages because he heard about this place on a carriage forum and was massively excited. i don’t think he realized that its just a carriage theme and the whole pub isn’t a working carriage so we were kinda disappointed but they serve drinks so we just got hammered and totally forgot about the carriage thing. practically no one there was even amish. maybe a table or two but can’t say 100%.

Threw away most of the food on the plate. Yes, it was that bad. Shrimp completely inedible. 3.5 shrimp thrown away. Mashed potatoes were runny with a slick greenish-yellow hue and no taste. Thought perhaps the corn succotash would be good — but alas it was made from bland tasteless mushy canned/frozen corn. I did eat some of the chicken breast — average at best. We will not be returning!

Upon walking to the door which is a large old wooden door with a huge circular handle, I knew I would love this place. Had a Living Social deal so decided to check this place out. They have several bar areas and a great dining room with a fireplace. The booth seating is nice because you aren’t sitting directly across from everyone, it is circular so makes for a great date night as you can sit next to each other, love it! We ordered the half order of a vegetable risotto and had this as an app, this was delicious, a must have! The order of seafood linguini came with enormous shrimp, cod, and crab meat, I got this with a red sauce. The flavor and the texture of the fish was delicious, I just wish it was hot, came out lukewarm but since all of the food and the service was amazing I think this was a fluke occurrence and I can’t wait to return so 5 stars it is! We also got the dippin’ prime rib sandwich and when it came out it looked great but the server came over immediately and said she didn’t see the cheese on it and she was going to get a new one. WOW, had no idea we were missing cheese and it tasted fine without it but with it yeah it was amazing. I was so impressed that she came right over and noticed this and changed it without us saying a word, she was just that attentive. Highly impressed with the service! The sandwich was great, bread had a nice crispiness to it and we got the salad instead of fries, the salad was huge and only $ 1.95 more. I am excited to return to try the whiskey bar and more of their menu. The service, taste, and presentation of the food makes this place somewhere I would love to frequent.

My parents went last Saturday night 10÷10÷15. The service was so bad they walked out. All of the white people were served without incident. Not a place for people of color to go., money is green… big mistake Big HUGE!!!

The chicken fried steak was supposed to be diced prime rib with sausage gravy. It was a rectangle of fried ground something. The green beans were good, and the mashed fairly decent. I hear the prime rib is supposed to be very good. I’ll give they place one more try.

OK, so this was our first visit and we love this place! My fav wanted to go to a Saloon for his birthday and this was the closest place to us that fit the description. Indeed, the inside of the Whiskey Room is very cozy with exposed brick and lots and lots of whiskey! We arrived early so the Whiskey room was not yet open so we sat in another bar area at a high top. The Carriage Inn has quite a few beers on tap which the boys sampled while the ladies tried some cocktails from the menu. The bartender was also our server and he was very personable. We ordered our first drinks and an appetizer and chatted for quite a long while before ordering our meal. The bartender kept checking in on us to be sure we didn’t need anything and even went in to the Whiskey Room with the men to look for a particular whiskey we were talking about. Alas, our bartender friends shift came to an end and off he went. Our new bartender/waitress was also very professional and attentive. We ordered our meal and it came in good time. Not so quickly I would wonder if it were ‘fresh’ and not so long I would wonder if they were out picking the veggies. My fav got the pork chop and it was enormous! He ate every bite and very much enjoyed it. The baked potato comes with butter and sour cream and he got coleslaw as one of his sides which he also ate entirely. The blackened salmon got raves as well and came with a huge pile of the vegetable of the day. No going hungry here! Now that we know this place is here, I am sure we will stop in again. But later in the day, so we can check out the Whiskey Room in more detail!

Carriage inn has been great! We have been many times and it’s somewhat consistent. The prime rib is great! Love the au jus! That’s mostly why we go. The chicken parm is good but honestly the sauce/gravy was a bit too sweet. It tasted sugary. The sangria is good! We love the building, and all the fireplaces. We’ve never waited for seating. The prime rib sandwich is really good too and the farrow!!!

This place is great suburban eye candy, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We stopped in while the place was hopping, and my party was still able to get a seat. The hostess was very pleasant, and during the short span it took for us to get to a table, the owner ran over and personally greeting us. We felt right at home and ordered quickly. The assortment of food was mostly very good. The prime rib was perfect and melted in my mouth. The mixed grilled was also nice, but the farro risotto was slightly disappointing. It was presented well enough, but it became an amorphous blob during consumption. It was difficult to get the attention of the waitress. She seemed very new and didn’t have any timings down. We never got beverage refills or complementary bread until prompting her. The food delivery and table clearing was handled by different people, all of them personable and professional. They were able to handle the tasks that the waitress should have been around for. The only true complaint I have is the state of the men’s room. I had to take my young son to the restroom halfway through the meal, and when we walked in, the floor was drenched and nasty. Some loaded barfly probably loused it up right before we walked in, and it was unfortunate that it sullied my experience.

Its open, again. After a long hiatus, the old Carriage House Inn is open again, as the Carriage Inn & Saloon. And they’ve done an extensive remodel, exposing quite a bit of the original stonework, it’s a really great looking restoration. They also must have done a decent job getting the word out, because the 2 valet parking attendants had their hands full. The place was packed; on a night where the local news headlined a downtown restaurant’s tale of woe about the dreadful weather no less. The fireplaces were roaring, and the locals were out and about. Really great to see. The food, we didn’t dive too deep into the menu. The sliced Prime Rib sandwich was very, very good. Served with an au jus, just for dipping, soft and meaty and flavorful. A simple cheeseburger was similarly prepared with fine ingredients, and a tasty roll to boot, but unfortunately quite far overcooked. We’ll certainly be back for dinner, and to see how good this place gets.
