What a cute restaurant! I heard this place was recently remodeled in the hotel, and there is now a gorgeous outside seating area as well as a nice dining room inside. We decided to sit outside as the weather was nice, and ordered off the DineLA and the regular menu. My friend got the ahi tuna tacos to start and the royale burger with pulled pork. I got the deviled eggs and the proscuitto and chanterelle flatbread. The ahi tuna tacos were green which was not expected as tuna is usually red, but the fish was fresh and tasty. The deviled eggs were smaller than usual, but also delicious! I like how bite sized they were. As for the royale burger, the bottom bun came rock hard and inedible, so we exchanged it for a new one. The new burger was great; the meat was juicy and tender, and there was a great flavor overall. The shoestring fries were seasoned with something similar to cajun, and we could not stop eating it! As for the flatbread, I love proscuitto and chanterelle mushrooms, so this was perfect for me. Proscuitto was hard to bite into and got all over the place, and it added a salty complement to the flatbread. Overall, I had a nice light lunch here! The food was great and the atmosphere was beautiful. We paid $ 40 total(not including tip) for lunch, which was reasonable as we each ordered two items. DineLA was $ 15 for two, and my individual dishes came out to $ 20. They even provide blankets if you get cold which I find to be very accommodating. Maybe I’ll stop by after work sometime!

DineLA 01÷31÷16 Sun Tuna Tartare Taco with avocado, charred serrano vinaigrette. ~ Tacos’ crispy goodness matches well with tuna’s buttery texture. Ancient Grain Salad with red quinoa, wheat berry, amaranth, black kale, roasted beet, pomegranate. ~ A complementary mix of fruits, grains & vegetables. Feta & Broccolini Flatbread with chili flake, rucola, garlic, red sauce. ~ Tasty, although the flatbread came too blackened underneath. Easy on the fire. Thai Town Shrimp Salad with green papaya, jicama, Thai bird chili vinaigrette, soba noodle, peanut. ~ Delivers a very strong kick I had to fork out the peppers. Waiter Ross served another sans peppers. Butterscotch Pudding with caramel popcorn. ~ Stale popcorn. Pudding’s creamy consistency helped its subtle flavor linger. 3 hour validated self-parking. Free wifi. Excellent hostess, waitstaff and attendant.

Loved this hidden gem, gorgeous lounge, bar and patio area with fireplace. We enjoyed DineLA prix fix menu. The Flash fried cheddar grits with bacon jam was so scrum-diddley-umptious!!! Sea bass and Hanger steak both cooked to perfection. Panna Cotta with Cabernet sorbet was a balance of creamy richness with tart sweetness. Grasshopper mint brownie was like a Girl Scout’s dream sundae! Waitstaff was pleasant and Oliver the manager was super hospitable and gave us a wonderful tour of the Garland hotel. We enjoyed our evening and will definitely be returning for dinner and movie night poolside.

We decided to come here for Dine LA since it’s in the neighborhood. The menu looked pretty elegant on the Dine La menu. We were sold on the glass of wine that comes with your meal. First off, there’s complimentary 3 hour valet parking. A plus since it’s at a hotel. The ambience is definitely cute. There was an awesome outside patio that we were able to sit in. Mind you, this place is definitely a fan of the Swedish meatball. It’s all decked out in IKEA gear. Service was super attentive and friendly. Thanks Andrew! Now on to the food: I decided to go with the grilled octopus as a starter. I was definitely impressed! The octopus was so tender and had a great smoke from the grill. The yogurt sauce complimented it very well. If I were to come back, I’d definitely get that again. My friend got the white cheddar grits as a starter. Okay a little FYI on that. She can’t handle spice so she got the grits plain. It normally comes with pickled Fresno chili and bacon jam, but unfortunately I didn’t get to taste it with that. BUT the grits were on point! That pan fry those suckers! Ok the entrees, I got the sea bass and my friend got Mary’s chicken. Both were okay. I felt like the sea bass could have been cooked a little better. The skin wasn’t as crispy as I liked and it was slightly dry. Mary’s chicken had a good flavor, but I wasn’t wowed. Dessert! So I was pretty impressed with the butterscotch pudding. That stuff gave me goosies. Super rich and decadent. The panna cotta was good but it was… Frozen??? I don’t know if that was a mistake, but isn’t it supposed to be like creamy jello? I’ve never had frozen panna cotta before and it kind of threw me off. The Cabernet blackberry sorbet that it came with was MONEY. I could have just eaten that on it’s own. Overall, a decent place to eat with a great ambience and friendly service.

I was bummed when Warren’s Blackboard shut down the The Front Yard is a step up. My co-workers raved about the hummus. I had the prosciutto, gruyère, and mushroom flatbread which was very tasty. The décor is also kitschy so it makes for a fun lunch spot. The only downside to the meal was that the chocolate chip cookie was very dry. The staff was great and I recognized one of the chefs from Cutthroat Kitchen, which is obviously the greatest show on television that everyone needs to watch as often as possible. It’s definitely On The List for eateries in the Studio City/Universal City area.

Really nice place ! The front patio is beautiful with a big fireplace and heaters. It was raining when we were there so we didn’t have the chance to enjoy it but next time. The food was good and thoughtfully presented. Nice clean and modern feel to the place.

Came to the Front Yard to celebrate a friends birthday. The décor is retro modern with seating available inside and at their outdoor patio, which boasts a cozy fireplace. The food was delicious and plentiful. Their craft cocktails are amazing and pair well with many of their dishes. I will definitely be returning!

Stayed at The Garland hotel for one night with my boyfriend while visiting Universal Studios, and decided to eat in and order room service which is provided by The Front Yard. Hostess was really helpful and friendly. We ordered the Hanger steak cooked medium and fries, and kale chicken caesar salad. The fries were delicious and crispy and well seasoned, but the steak came out a little too pink for our taste so we asked for it to be redone. Instead of cooking a new steak, they put it back on the grill. Because it was sliced, it came back hard and inedible. Anyone who cooks steaks knows that what once you slice the steak, and put it back on the grill it won’t taste the same. The kale and dressing were decent, but the chicken was totally dry and I would suggest less capers. I totally abstained from the chicken. I spoke to the manager about the steak and received an apology, but nothing to make up for the not up to par food. I did not want to have to deal with complaining about the chicken too. I will not be coming back here again. Because we were so hungry after this botched meal, we actually ended up going to Kitchen24 which charged us half the price but had 10x the quality.

Came here on Thanksgiving and were blown away by the quality of the food. Compliments to the chef! I had the roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, the best candied yams with marshmallows ever, excellent beer on tap and coffee and various deserts. It was a fixed price menu buffet and the best quality on a buffet table I have seen. I look forward to checking this place out for happy hour and for holiday dinners. Oh and the service was great too.

Service is excellent. The staff are attentive and friendly yet professional. The summer menu was seasonal although I’ll be curious to see if the menu changes with the seasons. Being a fried chicken connoisseur I should have not let the waiter sway me but my dinner partner was easily influenced. My favorite dish is the pasta with crab. The portions are perfect and in line with hotel prices although for a local resident they are somewhat expensive. The wine list is better than most establishments in the area and the cocktails are made with love. The outdoor ambience is cozy with a generally fashionable, adult(40ish) crowd. There are a mix of locals and travelers. Give it a try.

Service is really good and so is the food. My wife and I walked into this little gem that has changed hands a couple of times but this time I hope it sticks. Breakfast– fantastic. Both my wife and I thought the omelet which we always order Ina scramble format was cooked to perfection. Dinner– kale salad– very tasty, street corn– love, the pizzas are great and the place is gray for toddlers– I suggest Mac@cheese hold bread crumbs for the little one– ours loves it and so de we.

Really cute place! Lots of space, tables, both indoor and outdoor! Had the hummus w pita chips(the bring out 4 pita triangles … Not enough so bought 4 more for $ 2). Hummus was really good and different! Pork quesadillas(3 triangles) were great! The best was the Brocolini Tempura … Huge bowl(surprised at out how much was served compared to other plates). It was delicious!!! Absolutely get this as a side! Those 3 items were perfect for my daughter and I to share! Service was excellent too! Very friendly

I’ve taken my two daughters, and last night my wife and I ate there. The crab linguini was light and tasty, and not too filling. Perola was our server last night, and she did an excellent job. I was planning to have a New York steak, and she suggested the Chilean sea bass which was the«special». It was just about the best I’ve ever had. It was warm so we ate outside and enjoyed the patio very much. It is «pet friendly» so next time I’ll bring my well-behaved Black Lab. Parking could be better: the nearby slots were empty but marked«VALETONLY». So we had to park in the rear and walk around the hotel.

Cute and delicious! The esthetic is wonderful and welcoming. It was a great brunch spot. We ordered the green hummus and market salad to start. The hummus was phenomenal and the market salad was okay, but heavily dressed and really more of a slaw than a salad. For an entrée I had the Market Skillet, which I highly recommend. A very large portion of eggs(I asked for mine scrambled although they typically come fried) and deliciously seasoned and prepared vegetables. Everyone at our tables enjoyed their meals and thought everything was pretty reasonably priced. The only downside is that the service was a little slow, but I’ll ignore that considering they’re new and still seem to be getting things figured out(they haven’t even officially opened yet). I love this place and hope to return for dinner sometime!

Another Dine LA2015 discovery. I had been in this space during its previous incarnation as Warren’s. Dine LA gave me the opportunity to see what was new with the Front Yard. First off, it’s more like a backyard than a front yard. The indoor décor is sleek but personable with interesting quirks here and there. The outdoors is like your fancy friends’ back yard: twinkle lights, fireplace and covered picnic tables.(This would be your friends who use cloth napkins at home instead of paper!). A pretty and relaxing Al fresco setting. We began with drinks, a Mojito for my guest and something called a «Second Date» for me: Henebery Spiced Rye, Demerara Date syrup and citrus– not too sweet and had a complex taste and a pleasant kick to it. I would give this drink a second date for sure. For starters we chose the Feta & Brocolini flatbread with chili, garlic, rucola and red sauce– a delicious meal in itself… and the Triple B: local burrata, baby beets, Cape Gooseberry, Sherry & cocoa nibs– lovely and inventive. Mains: Angus Hanger steak & fries– a tender Hanger steak that my companion deemed, «Satisfying». For myself, the wild Halibut with cauliflower, Romesco, pickled beech mushrooms & blonde gastrique– virtuous and healthy and tasty as well. Never ones to pass on dessert, we indulged in the Grasshopper espresso brownie with mint cookie, cocoa nibs & mint ice cream and the Panna Cotta with crème fraîche, compressed pineapple, ginger meringue and blackberry Cabernet sorbet — this one proved to be the dessert of my week! Just the sorbet alone was fabulous enough to want a pint of it but the Panna Cotta was a wonderfully cheesey contrast with the sweet bite of pineapple. We would definitely come back to the Front Yard with the backyard space that makes you forget the world outside.

It’s soooo hard not to compare this to Warren’s because we fell so hard in love with Warren himself and the menu. But Unilocal is about unbiased feedback, so: In short, the food is good but not spectacular for what you pay. We were not wow-ed. Granted, it’s in its soft opening phase. We probably won’t be back for dinner but we will go back for drinks and the pretty bar inside. The cocktails are the same as before — superb. The location is fantastic(we can walk here) and the design on the interior is hippy-chic, very well done. I don’t care for the external patio design, which doesn’t match the interior. The staff is one of the best parts of the Front Yard, helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. What we tried: ~Albacore tuna taco — the tar tar itself is fantastic but $ 5 for three bites felt a bit unpleasant; I would have paid $ 8 for two tacos, though, which would make it an appetizer and not a «bite.» ~Crab toast — quite tasty but it’s very, very small. Again, $ 5 for a «bite.» ~Steak and frites — pretty darn good as are the fries that come with it; decent price for a hanger steak. ~Halibut — lacked some flavor but was cooked well; does not come with side. ~Carmel pudding — best part of the meal. Wow, highly recommended. ~Ginger beer cocktail — our usual, 5 stars out of 5. All in all, it’s worth a try if not to support an establishment like the Garland. Walk around the grounds before or after your meal. Quite lovely and the lobby/lounge has a fantastic vibe. -**Make a reservation.** –Not good for groups. –Outside is a bit more kid-friendly. –Parking is valet or lot(charged per time parked).
