The sushi at this restaurant is spot on, but that’s besides the point of this review. The customer service here is horrible and the only waitress that knows what she’s doing is Sunny… I always have a problem on the weekends when she’s not there due to the incompetence of the other female waitress. I definitely recommend shoga to hire more waitresses similar to Sunny because she is able to talk to customers but the other one lacks basic communication skills.

Wow run away from this place next time you see it. The owner is extremely rude along with his employee. I ordered from here twice because its next to my house and both times I felt like I was in a tyranical third world country. They take over an hour to prepare the food and lie about the time. I didnt feel like a customer I felt like I was begging for food and they were being gracious. My standards and expectations for ettiquette are pretty low in restaurants towards employers/employees so to cross the line with me it has to be horrible.

This place is the worst place. If u want to eat here be prepared to bring a pillow and a blanket. Cuz it takes them 45 to make 3 rolls 3 rolls. 1 guy making sushi. And one last thing she’s the server. I would never come here again and would never recommend to anybody.

UNFORTUNATELYWECANNOTGIVE A LOWERRATING. We went for a office lunch A TOTALDISASTERANDWILLNEVERGOBACK … We get there and tell the waiter,(an older woman) we are 10 people and ask her more then 4 times to put tables together and she said no WEHADTODOITOURSELVES. So we ate the food, it was ok nothing extraordinary … I guess they close at 2:30 and we didn’t know so everybody was enjoying and having fun. mostly everybody left by 3:15 and 3 of us stayed to finish eating and drinking whe we call her to get to go boxes … She stood infront of the clock and looked at it so every time we call her this is what she will do finally I ask if everything was ok and this when she told us they close at 2:30 with a really ugly way. finally we had the boxes and we ask for the manager or a phone number when we can complain about her service … OUTOFNOWHERETHISCRAZYLADYCOMESWITH A PHONEONHEREARCALLINGPOLICEANDSAYINGTHESHEHADVIOLENTCOSTUMERSTHATSHENEEDHELP … WEJUSTLAUGHTANDWELEFT … Will my office come in and spend over $ 500.00 dollars again I DONTTHINKSO !!! After seeing the reviews i wanted to try this place. Really small spot, we ordered 4 different roles and i was dissapointed with all four. Not to mention we had to wait a long time to get the food and for the server to bring us stuff. Very dissapointed, im afraid I will not be returning.

My best friend and I really loved this place the environment is so cute and very cozy and warm, was a little scared at first glance though! The outside is sketchy! The sushi was pretty good too not cheap though. A little pricey but so worth it in my head. The woman is so cute too! Knd of shy but cute nonetheless would definitely recommend this place and come here again.

Can I just start by saying YUUUUM! By far one of the best sushi places I’ve been to. The food was amazing! I went to Shoga for the first time last night(Wednesday night around 8 pm). The parking lot had a few spots open, so I didn’t have a tough time finding parking. The restaurant is located in a shopping center. I REALLY want to give this place 5 stars, but I have a few minor complaints. The restaurant is tiny, so it fills up fast. Our food took quite some time to come out(about 25 – 30 min). The air conditioning wasn’t working(it was about 90 degrees last night). Instead, I give this place 4.5 stars! The minor complaints are honestly NOTHING compared to how good my rolls were. I ordered the Hundred Dollar Roll(one of the best rolls I’ve ever had), the Shoga Roll(the sauce was tart and went well with the raw fish), the Rock N Roll(yuuuuum), and salmon sushi(thick cuts of salmon). I can’t wait to go back & try some more! The Baked Lobster Roll & the Snow Roll are next on my list. Nam nam nam

For tonights service by the owner i had to update my review. The sushi is usually great but tonight the extremely poor service was worse than usual. Waited an hour and no food. After nicely asking the owner /chef snapped and we decided to leave instead of wait any longer or treated any worse. they did serve someone who came in after us without a problem. Very unpleasant experience. I hope they get better becauce the food is great.

Mmm the best sushi I ever tried is a Snow Roll from Shoga sushi! Just finished whole roll and still want more! Will come back for that for sure. It was baked and warm yummi! Other rolls we ordered were really tasty too(Million Dollar roll and Philadelphia). The good thing is that they are still open at 10 pm, I ordered for pick up and it was ready in 20 min, also the guy over the phone was really nice. Happy that found this place on Unilocal:)

Waited over 30min for sushi. While others came in after and received food quicker. Fair service right — wrong! Bad attitude by the waitress. Good food tho

You should make corrections to your business hours posted on your door. The times that I came to eat there, the restaurant should have been open. It reads«6:00pm — 10:45 pm. That’s a negative. I actually waited in front of the door with friends from 6:00 until 6:21pm and left. I would understand if it was the first time, but it has happened more than once, as a result, I am never coming here again because I don’t know if they’re open. It should be noted that calling the restaurant will be unsuccessful because they will not pickup OR if they do, the door will still be locked when you get there.

This a cute little place to eat at! Decided to come here because they are open late and have decent reviews comparing other places around Los Angeles valley college! I thought it was cool how our waitress was wearing a kimono! She was very nice too! Funny thing was how the place was dead and all of the sudden it got packed! And it was 10pm on a Wednesday! The food was good! And there’s a huge parking lot!

About a month ago, my boyfriend and I were just getting out of work and decided to meet up for dinner. We both had a long day and couldn’t really decide on what to have for dinner. As we both got into the car, we were just debating whether sushi for dinner would be good, but I wanted Sushi and Sushi it was! It was a bit late in the evening and driving to the city of Burbank for our sushi spot«Niko Niko would be a bit of a drive. So we decided to steer into Valley Glen and check out a new sushi restaurant near by. So we both Unilocaled for a sushi bar in that area. We came across Shoga Sushi. It had decent reviews, pictures on their review pages looked delicious and it was close. Very convenient, so Shoga it was. As we arrived, we noticed the place was a bit tiny and very tight, but we didn’t care much for it. We went inside because of the food and the convenience and ofcourse I wanted Sushi. Upon walking in we were greeted warmly with a smile from a server. She walked us to a small table for two. She provided us with menus and gave us a minute to look over. She didn’t offer us drinks immediately, yet she was more worried about her large party of 10 and completely forgot about us. Ten minutes later she approaches our table and asks us what would we like to drink? what sushi we wanted? took our menus and walked away. Didn’t even ask if we wanted any appetizers. Whether it was miso soup or edemame. We had to ask her. I started to notice this was already going to be a night that I wasn’t going to be happy with. I Can honestly say she kept eyeing the party of ten and not acknowledging the other two little parties she had waiting. In the means, we were waiting for our order: I ordered the NoHo Roll and my boyfriend ordered the 100 dollar roll and to share we ordered the Baked Lobster Roll. As soon as we got our rolls, I was so unsatisfied. All I can honestly say, I just didn’t like the food. There was smelt egg on all of the rolls. And on the menu it doesn’t say they come with smelt egg aka fish eggs. I hate smelt egg. I wanted to let her know to make me a new one, but as I mentioned before all her concentration was on the ten top. Didn’t even ask us if everything was ok! The miso soup and edemame was the only thing I enjoyed. What’s even more hilarious the food was very chewy. I’ve tried many sushi spots in many different cities and I have never tried chewy sushi. Something was definitely wrong with my rolls. Plus the fact that they were buried in fish eggs. My boyfriend and I didn’t want to say anything, so he just payed and didn’t even finish his roll nor the rest. He’s not really picky as I am, but he did his best to eat his roll. I could see it in him, he wasn’t satisfied at all. Towards 35 mins into our awful start of a dinner, the server asked us if we wanted to take it home? My boyfriend said yes, in order to be nice and not say much to her. I wanted to say something in regards to the quality of the food, but I just didn’t. Sorry Shoga Sushi, I was very dissatisfied and I am not coming back. Smelt egg, chewy sushi, lack of server attention. no way! In reality I’m only giving 1.5 stars because the soup was good, the edemame and they had the Mavericks basketball game on.

I really enjoy this place. I usually place a take out order about one a week on my way home from work. The waitress is really sweet and on top of things. She uses caller ID to keep track of the orders and instantly recognizes me when I come in the door. I started ordering online thru Unilocal/Eat24 and it’s even easier to place my order. In fact, my orders seem to be ready more quickly this way. As the others have said, the restaurant dining area is very small. Only 7 or 8 tables. On busy takeout nights, I’ve noticed that the sushi bar is crowded with to-go orders, so people wanting to sit at the sushi might be out of luck. The food is very good. It always seems fresh and I like that I get pretty thick cuts of sushi most of the time. Pretty standard fare here, but some of their specials are very tasty, especially the Pepper Salmon Sushi. What a nice surprise! There is plenty of street parking if the strip mall’s lot is full. They are open late, which I love. This is a great little underrated sushi restaurant and I’m a big fan!

Still one of the best places for sushi in North Hollywood that’s not along Ventura Blvd. I’m usually not a fan of strip mall sushi but this Korean run joint does the trick. The place is often crowded during dinner so plan ahead. The fish is fresh and the cuts are usually generous. In addition to sushi there are a variety of rolls and they still serve a good bowl of udon too. Thank goodness they added a second waitress to speed service up a bit. The place is really small though so ordering to go might be a better option, which is what I usually do. It’s still fantastic. Parking can still be crazy though in their tiny lot so anticipate parking on the street.

Decided to eat here quickly while waiting for a friend to get off work. Ordered the baked salmon roll. It’s pretty simple in my opinion. Baked. Salmon. Roll. But what did I get? Raw salmon roll. Guess they were trying to suggest sashimi was better? Horrible first impression.

I live about 20 second away from this place, and have never given it try, until tonight. As a big sushi eater it’s important to me to have different calibre(price wise) of sushi places in my arsenal. Shoga is a great place to go for fairly priced(if not down right cheaply priced) sushi, but with delicious and high price taste. The dining room is small with about 8 tables and a decent sized sushi bar top. The service was good and friendly despite it being pretty crowded and hectic when we first arrived. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, spicy albacore roll, pepper tuna sushi, and salmon toro sushi. All of which was delicious. The cut rolls were 8 pieces each and pretty well proportioned for the low price. The spicy albacore was particularly good, as well as the pepper tuna sushi. Those will be my two go to choices in the future here. Overall it was priced low, but tasted like it was higher end fish. The interior wasn’t the best I’ve ever been in, but what it lacked in sophistication, it made up for with a small, comfortable, close to home neighborhood sushi spot feel. For that reason along with the good service and fish… I will be going back.

Ginger sauce on everything! Over whelming and just too much to handle. It made it uncomfortable to eat. With that being said I love ginger sauce but it was just soaked, which made it disgusting to eat. I asked for ponzu sauce for my albacore sushi and she literally drowned my sushi, she made it soup. I was so shocked I couldn’t believe myself on how little common sense she had that she though me asking for sauce meant her pouring a plateful on sauce. The salmon eggs were smoother with sesame oil. I have never had salmon eggs and where that put sesame oil on it. When I sake to make a new one and that I was allergic to sesame oil she told me it’s okay it’s just a little, nothing would happen. Now if you have ever dined here you’d know there is only one waitress that works here and she is the one I have been speaking of. What makes it sad that I will never return here again. I use to love this place, everything was amazing and mouth watering. Oh well… There is so many other sushi joint.

My husband and I just went to this place for the very first time and I must say that this is probably my favorite sushi joint as of now. This is what we ordered: Spicy Tuna hand rolls, Scallop roll, NoHo roll, Hundred Dollar roll, Dynamite Scallop roll, Crispy Jackie. I am going to upload a picture of the prices which I think are fairly reasonable. I do have to admit however that the place is very small so its not good for going with a large group of people. The service is great, the waitresses are very polite and friendly. 5 stars!
