I’m always really hesitant when it comes to pet doctor visits, simply because they often charge an arm and a leg for the littlest thing and try to guilt you into getting more than what you brought your pet in to begin with. That’s been my experience anyway. That being said, we had no problem with that.
Doctor Sunada was very concise and to the point. She was straight up with us about the price point of the allergy test — which is what we brought one of our pups in for — and rather than insist on going ahead with it, she prescribed us some medication for our little one and recommended a change in diet to see if there’s any improvement over the next month before having us commit to the expensive tests.
For a check up for two dogs and their vaccinations updated, we ended up paying a little under $ 150 all together, which for me is a bit pricey — I’m used to taking the pups to the cheap mobile clinics — but it’s worth it having a vet we know won’t break the bank. The doctor was very straight forward and I never felt any pressure for her to get anything done that wasn’t necessary. Also the service at the front counter was quite friendly.
Also, after our visit, I got an email that set us up with a profile for our pets, which allows us to update/​edit any info, as well as see our pet records and make follow up appts. That convenience is always a big plus for me.

Dr. Sunada and her staff are wonderful. We had an emergency visit last week for one of our pups. Since it was an emergency and an unexpected expense, they were super helpful in letting us split it into 2 payments. Half the day of treatment, and the remaining half this morning at his follow up visit when his bandage was removed. They are kind and caring towards all of our fur babies, and I am very happy we found them. We moved to California a little over a year ago, we had been with our vet back home for so long that we never thought twice about where to take them. After moving, we were at a loss, it is hard finding all new people in a new city. Dr, Sunada came highly recommended by a co-​worker and I am so grateful she told me about them. They have made our experience n a new city, that much easier to handle. I would recommend them to any and every one reading this.

So my sister dropped off our foster kitty and it was my job to pick him up in the evening after his neuter. I park on the side and I go to the door and it wouldn’t open. It seemed dark so I go around and come back to the front door. Again, I try to open it and I see a girl behind the counter moving her arms around as if to tell me something. After 5 minutes she comes to the front and spells out P-​U-​S-​H. She doesn’t say hi, hi how are you NOTHING other than next time push!
Well excuse me pregnant lady sorry you had to get up and help a customer out! You left a bad taste in my mouth…
By the way the only reason I came here was because this is one of the only vets in North Hollywood that believes in neutering animals under 6 months old. You were inexpensive and I was willing to give you a chance but your staff has no customer service. I will stick to my own vet even if she is a little more conservative.

Vet is ok and care is fine. Facility is ok too and pretty clean. Like other reviews, the staff costs this place 3 starts. They are consistently rude and act like I am interrupting their important discussions on make-​up and celebrities. Also, be prepared to overpay for absolutely anything and everything that they can dream up. Costs for things like tests, microchipping, medicine are WAY higher than other vets I’ve been to in the area (and I’ve owned many cats for years).

The worst vet I have ever been to. The helper would NOT even TAKE my cat out of his carrier. He acted as though he was afraid. Also the vet insisted on big payment BEFORE she did anything to help the cat. My impression is she is only interested in money not your pet. My cat died at the HOSPITAL due to bad care.

The vet herself is competent, and I wouldn’t say your pet isn’t safe here but… I took my dog to get fixed and when I got him back, he felt DEAD. I don’t mean lethargic which would be obvious since they had just put him down, I mean he was so cold it made me feel disgusting even touching him. If you’ve ever felt a chicken when you grab it out of the package from the fridge, that’s how my dog felt. He couldn’t even shiver. I asked why he was so cold, and the male tech laughs and goes, «Oh yeah, it’s really cold back there.» THEN TURN THE EFFING AC DOWN! I was about to lose my mind so I left, and THREE HOURS LATER my dog is still wrapped in a blanket and freezing. I was afraid he was hypothermic to the point of well, I don’t know, he could be dying?! I called at this point and the staff were so unbelievably rude. This girl was LAUGHING at me. She scoffed and acted like I was a crazy person, like my complaint was just ludicrous and unfounded. «Well, I don’t know what to tell you, I’ve never heard that before… I assure you, we’re not keeping your dog in a fridge» she said as she continued to laugh at me.
The vet called the next day, but only after I called three times leaving her messages to call me back. She reassured me that because my dog was small, he may have had trouble warming up, and she would address the issue with her tech being awful at their next staff meeting. So, I guess because I live so close and I know the vet is ok to treat my animal, I would go back. However, I hate pretty much anyone that answers the phone or works at the desk. They’re all awful.
Also, we had a separate time where the girl at the counter pushed this $ 100 flea and tick med on my dad and it was the worse flea gel I’ve ever used on a dog. It did not work at all. And they wouldn’t let us return it. They said «maybe» they could give us credit towards a future visit. I don’t eve know if we still have that credit though, because when I tried to call and ask about it, this other girl acted like that was the dumbest thing she had ever heard.

Dr Sunada & Staff are great! They have have taken care of all my pets over the past 12 years. Yes, sometimes they close, she’s a 1 woman show. She deserves some time off! But Dr Sunada is always willing to answer my crazy cat lady questions and settle my paranoia.
The front desk is exceptional. They are very helpful and full of knowledge. We have had a rough year with our pets and they have been extremely kind & sympathetic and we cant thank them enough!

Took my new pup to get her first shots and i am super happy with their prices… Had called the supposedly «low cost» clinic and they charged 3 times more than this place. Plus the receptionist was great and friendly.

Dr. Sunada is the best. She’s really, really smart and competent. She’s not overly fuzzy, but she’s actually very kind. Every time I try to leave her, I come back because I don’t trust the other vets I dally with because they don’t get it right. Won’t go into it completely, but a dog that eventually died was totally underdiagnosed from another vet, took her back in to Dr. Sunada who immediately found the problem. Those two days the other vet wasted could’ve been more time with my dog — who was going to die no matter what at this point. But I had to pay twice since the useless vet cost, and I just didn’t feel right about her diagnosis and lack of listening (I think the Dr. was named Lori), so I opted to pay for a 2^nd opinion with Dr. Sunada.
So why 3 stars and not 5? The office closes. A lot. A whole lot. Unexpectedly. No website to announce the closures, no emails, no mention on their Facebook page. It’s annoying that they close, but it’s unacceptable that they don’t post it someplace at the very least. Just leaving a note on the door (by the time you’re reading it, it’s already too late) or the answering machine doesn’t cut it. And there’s no emergency number or stand-​by person on the message. So if the office is closed, there’s not even a tech or intern you can call to come open up to give you your med refill or prescription food. If they JUST broadcast the closures and got a person to sell food in emergency cases, I’d give 4 stars. Maybe if she hired a 2^nd part time vet, it could be 5 stars. It’s REALLY affordable care and super high quality, so there’s a trade off. But God bless you if she’s not available during an emergency. I’d suggest using her as your primary vet, but have a secondary emergency vet on hand, and NEVER go without calling first to see if it’s one of the sporadic closure days.

My husband took our dog for an emergency today and left with no care. The staff made him wait for over 2.5 hours when initially saying that he will be seen in 15 minutes. Two hours later he was told to wait another 15 minutes because another dog was a priority. This is unacceptable. Our poor little pup is limping and needs urgent care and attention.
I don’t recommend this facility to anyone who has an emergency.
My advice, rename your facility to North Hollywood Animal Don’t Care Center.

About 6 years ago I brought my shepherd mix here to be spayed and microchipped. All came out well and no problems.
My father got the tiniest puppy I’ve even been around. 4lbs at 9months, so I was a bit worried about her going under the knife. Had a Tuesday appointment. They were very reassuring here about my concerns. The price is very reasonable. almost too good makes you wonder about getting what you paid for… but no reason to fret, it’s a 5 star experience. Requested a microchip and nail trim while she was under.
They called me to let me know she still had a baby tooth and if I wanted to extract it while she was under I said sure. I was so grateful when they called me to let me know the surgery was done and she woke up and was fine and resting.
The incision is healing well and they called two days after just to make sure she was doing fine. I did mention a small hanging bit at the bottom of her incision, that concerned me a bit because I wanted to be sure it was not a suture before I mess with it. I emailed them a photo of it they said it appeared to be a scab and it was. It fell off shortly after. Scabs happen.
I wish I lived closer to here so it could be our regular vet.

This place is always closed on random days! Several times I have pulled up to this vet, and there is a note on the door saying they are closed for a family obligation. So today, instead of driving there for nothing, I called. Guess what? Closed. They need more than one doctor on the roster. Ridiculous.
Oh yeah, when I took my dog there to be fixed, she came back full of fleas.

I’m very happy with Dr. Sunada as a vet. She is fast, efficient, and accurate. One of my Golden Retrievers was limping and I was worried about hip dysplasia. Dr. Sunada gave him a thorough exam. She said that based on her physical exam, he was either the most stoic dog she had ever seen, or he just had a sprain. She gave me an anti-​inflammatory for him and told me to rest him (no walks, poor guy) until it healed. She said that if it wasn’t gone in a few days, I should bring him back. She said it wasn’t worth putting him through unnecessary testing, if it was just an injury from running and playing in the back yard.
Sure enough, in a few days, he was back to his normal self.
Then, a couple of years later, one of his nostrils closed over with mucus and he was very lethargic. She ran some tests and diagnosed his hypothyroid condition. She put him on the right dose of medication right away and he is back to playing like a puppy again.
She also takes care of my other dog and spayed her. The office staff called me after the procedure to check up on my dog and make sure she was healing well from the surgery.
I found this office on Unilocal.And the good reviews are right. This office has reasonable prices. The doctor will not run tests or do procedures unless they are needed. She has good judgment. She cares about your pet’s well being. And she is fast and efficient.

Their computers went down and they didn’t even bother to tell anybody. But they quoted us 30 minutes. I got impatient after waiting 1 hr and half and they finally told me what was going on when I got a bit pushy about it. They are extremely rude and inconsiderate of your time. They don’t even have the decency of telling people that there is a delay because their systems are down… Front desk is extremely rude and unprofessional, especially Karen. This was a horrible experience for me and my pet. I wish I could give this place zero stars because they don’t even deserve 1.

My dog got her rabies shot for $ 12 and my other dog got ALL of his shots for $ 30! Definitely much prices then Petco!

I like the vet herself… but they are vastly understaffed, overbooked, and entirely inconsiderate of your time.
My pup hasn’t been eating normally lately, and I really want to get her checked out.
My apt was at 9:40; I got in at 9:30 and I overheard them tell someone else they are 20 minutes behind.
The puppy is only a year old, and has a ton of energy. Sitting in that waiting room is very difficult for her, because she wants to run around and play and sniff the other dogs.
But she hasn’t been herself lately, so I make her and her sister (there for moral support) sit quietly, even though they were miserable.
I waited almost an hour before I went and asked if there was any chance I would be able to be out of there by 11, since i had to be at a meeting at 12.
She told me no and tried to schedule me for tomorrow instead. I told her I cant take a second day off of work, but ask if I can come back in the afternoon.
She said yes.
But then I called back to double check they would see her, and I was told «well, it will probably be late though…»
(the ellipses there represents her trailing off, which I interpreted as «you’ll probably wait 2 hours»)
Once she regained composure, she finished with a «we had a cancellation at 2pm tomorrow though… we can schedule you for then.»
SO let me get this straight… you want me to take not 1, but 2 days off of work!!!
Or the better question would be:
How exactly do you expect me to pay my vet bills if i have to take 2 days off of work every time I have to bring in my dog?
Thankfully my bosses are wonderful, so I can bring her in to the office tomorrow and I can take her to a vet near work on my lunch. Otherwise I honestly don’t know what I’d do; North Hollywood Animal Care ate away my entire day, leaving me no time to figure out a different plan. I can’t fathom what would happen if i had normal job.

Karen that works there is rude and unhelpful.
I asked if I could please bring my dog in for gland expression today and prepay for my appointment on Friday so that I could get the with appointment price.
She flat out said no. I told her I couldn’t sleep because the dog was barking all night due to the glands and she did not give a _​_​_​_​!
I cancelled the appointment and now need a new vet. I’ve been here before and the tech was also incompetent. He told me my dog had problem with her leg that the doctor said was not true.
Like this doctor wish she had a better staff.

My girlfriend and I take our pets here and are very satisfied with the service Dr. Sunada and her staff have given us over the years. We have two cats, sisters, Roxie and Moxie, who are Russian Blues.
Today we had to put one of our cats, Biggie, to sleep. He was a Russian Blue Mix Munchkin we got from our local animal shelter some years ago. I’m still very emotional about him, even while writing this review. About 5 years ago we discovered he had serious gastro-​intestinal condition that was causing blockage. He had to get a sub colectomy — a very expensive surgery. Dr. Sunada was great in working with us, and allowed us to make payments over a short period of time. That surgery, along with medications he was taking, extended his life over past 5 years.
Unfortunately, we recently discovered he had advanced stage renal disease. He had also been losing weight. Rather than see him decline any further, we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye and put him to sleep. He went very peacefully, and Dr. Sunada was great — giving us all the time we needed with him after he passed.
Our other two remaining cats, Roxie and Moxie are doing fine. I’m sure they will miss Biggie. Dr. Sunada has been great vet for us over the years. She’s professional, and compassionate, and her prices are fair.

As a pet owner we are always looking for the best service, with reasnable prices. Well I found this and more here. The receptionist are polite and knowledgeable. Service is quick. Prices are very reasnable. Vet and techs are honest and reliable. They dont take advantage like other vets Ive been to. I highly recomend this vet to anyone and everyone. Thanks.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Sunada. She listens and never tries to «sell.» I have three dogs and she cares for them all. She neutered one of our rescues and I asked that she personally give him the pre-​operative sedative and put his IV in herself and she did. She did the pre-​op shot right in front of me!
Her prices are SUPER fair. The lowest I’ve found anywhere. I recommend EVERYONE to her.
