My daughter who is 5 has been taking classes since October 2014. After taking a YMCA class at school with an outstanding Instructor, I asked where I can take her to. He told me Power of the Arts is where he got his Black belt and that soon he will take his own daughter there. I loved how motivational they were and how dedicated they were to each child, even I walked out feeling inspired! Well, yesterday a friend of my daughters asked if she can go to his taekwondo class as «casual friend day» in Burbank. Now I can say that I have somewhere to compare Power of the Arts to, A few things caught my eye and some I HAVE to mention. When the instructor taught them how to fall(to land on forearm and elbow in order not to hurt wrist) he failed to space them out and my daughter got kick in the head from being so close. Ok, mistake right? Or simply and oversight. Anyway, later he wanted the kids to Kihap! Loudly and he went on saying” come on guys the girls are louder than you.” Seriously? Am I the only one who caught that? I want a place where my daughter is an equal, where the instructor values her as a student… And a simple comment like that from someone kids look up to can send the wrong impression. Mrs. Sharma and her two sons, Mr Sharma’s are amazing. They motivate my daughter to do he best in class, school and at home. They are always happy, polite, encouraging, motivational and most importantly inspirational. I’ve seen them correct a child until they get it, and once they all really know the moves, they move as one and it looks Amazing. I wanted a place where my daughter got a good workout, learned to defend herself and made friends. Power of the Arts is that very place, and I am happy I found them! Also, the color belts help out the little ones and in many occasions I’ve heard them tell the little ones what good jobs they’ve done and that they are doing great.- just thought that was cute!

If you are a parent looking for a dojo to train your kids then Power of the Arts is your place. My two kids attend and we love it. The staff here do three things well. 1. Teach great technique 2. give kids a good work out 3. Most importantly they focus on character. The have a Team Power competition team and they do regular belt ceremonies, both foster a nice sense of community. I couldn’t be happier with our choice for our kids.
