Ridge at McClellan

We were ripped off for most of our deposit with absolutely no paper work to justify the charges. We had a walk through and were told the place looked good. The manager rarely answers the telephone or returns phone calls. When we did receive a small portion of our deposit refund it did not include paper work explaining any cleaning charges. The check that arrived was in the wrong name and had the wrong city written on the envelope. We had provided our correct forwarding address. We called the corporate office hoping to resolve the issue and find out what we were charged for, and we were told to call the manager at The Ridge who when she finally answered the phone said she would call us back, never did! The Ridge is a nightmare!!!

I finally have enough time to write this review, but its been a long time coming. I moved into this place three years ago and knowing that it was not in a great area my expectations were not too high. The rent was decent and the interior was newly renovated when I moved in. MOST of the people working there are great. Prescilla and Jessica are great managers and they are super nice. When I had a problem they would pretty much go and fix it ASAP, but then another employee showed up and kind of took over and that is where it went downhill. I moved to another area and had talked to a few of them about it. They were very cool and put in my two months notice. When I did my inspection the week before I was supposed to turn it in, the maintenance guy told me it was the cleanest apartment he had ever had to clean out and literally wrote on his paper that I would only be paying 50 bucks for the mandatory carpet cleaning fee. HOWEVER, the new manager that took over decided to override that without ever telling me, so when I got the actual deposit check, it turned out to be near 150 dollars out of 500. I came back to check and she made up some BS about how they had to repaint the walls (Which I never touched) and redo the toilet (which was spotless) and charge me a 60 dollar fee for moving out a day early (literal WTF?). I turned my apartment in a week early because I had already cleaned up and wanted to help them lease it out to someone ASAP, but still paid for that week. Apparently she still charged me that fee. I’m not one to really argue and leave a bad taste in anyones mouth, but this had me literally flabbergasted. A deposit fee is legally supposed to be for damages, and there were no damages. I am sure the manager deducted these fees and pocketed them herself because when I asked for the cleaning charges and painting fees, she «couldn’t find them». Same with the paper that I signed for my move-​out date. Super convenient right? Currently collecting evidence and filing my charges for small claims courts. The cost they charged me isn’t much for me, but it pisses me off that she took advantage of me like that. I am still waiting on her to show me the papers, but she has conveniently forgot, now that its 3 months later. I would consider revising this if she was ever apologetic, but each time I’ve asked her for the documents, I would get a new lie on where they were or would be given some other documents that were unnecessary.
TLDR: I paid my rent on time for the whole time I was there and never ever had a problem with them. I left the place in a spotless condition, and was even told by maintenance that it was left spotless, yet was still charged nearly ¾’s of the deposit.
