Excellent«pub grub!» I go here for lunch from time to time and it never disappoints. Gets very crowded after about 11:30am with the lunch crowd from the Joint Base, so try to arrive around 11am, and you’ll have your choice of seating.

Once a questionable stop years ago, Tara’s is a welcome change and a great place for a delicious lunch or dinner. My brother and I met there for lunch yesterday and both enjoyed our meal. Having been here many times with no review I decided it was time. The lunch crowd was a little sparse, although the bar was fairly crowded and we both ordered a drink to go along with our sandwiches. I had a favorite, the Re-Vamp which is a delicious combination of Buffalo Chicken Strips, sauteed onions, blue cheese, cheddar and cilantro on a toasted bun with garlic mayo. Not on the Weight Watcher«nice» list but a welcome treat every once in awhile. My brother opted for the Cheesesteak with nothing but the cheese and thought it was good. Both sandwiches are served open faced and come with fries that are hot and crisp. A little off the beaten path but a nice place for lunch.

If you are looking for a place close to base for a drink and grub then this is the place. I have gone two times, once to celebrate the marriage of some friends and the second time to celebrate my 21st. Both were weekdays but I like the fact that it always has people eating or gathered around the bar. It’s low lit so lights aren’t shining in your face. Service is pretty good which is hard to find around here. Also, the food isn’t too bad. The burgers are great! The only thing that turned me off was that I wanted a fruity drink, and when the waitress brought it, I could immediately taste the cheap liquor. Just because I just turned 21 doesn’t mean I don’t know the good from the bad. I forced myself to drink it seeing that I didn’t want to waste it, and funny thing was it cost about $ 7. Not worth it, so stick what you know to and don’t let them know you’re a new drinker.

Tara’s is a great local place. Outstanding food for a «bar» kind of place. I surely didn’t expect such good food in a place where half of it is a bar. It can get a bit loud when the locals are in watching games or catching up on the local doings. The service is good, nice wait staff and the menus is extensive. I had the French dip from the menu and I was taken aback how flavorful and fresh tasting is was. Really this cook staff has some great skills. I am writing this after my 4th visit so I have tried a few items and all were good. m I am going to keep trying them all. Should take me a while.

Good food. The Potato Soup is delicious. It’s a tad pricy. Unfortunately a lot of their good menu items are specials and it’s a hit or miss whether they will be cooking them that day.

A hidden gem. Looks like a hole in the wall but the food is so good. Had an incredible chicken capillini soup. The beer selection was ample. The tavern pork chops were great & the sweet potato fries were VERY good. We’ll be back!

Don’t judge a book by its cover. What a delicious meal we had. A small, unobtrusive bar gave us a fine meal. The mussel app was delicious. The smoked salmon bisque was so creamy and full of delicious salmon. The salad was crisp and fresh. The portions are generous. My steak entrée was perfectly cooked medium. Coffee was fresh and carrot cake dense and flavorful. Just what I needed tonight. I will be back !

This place is a local gem! The Cajun Angels are amazing hubby orders 2 every time we go. Close to base and housing. Small but cute. I love this place. Staff is all very friendly and helpful. Never had a complaint here.

This place has such fresh and original food, not your typical«everything’s fried» bar menu. You can eat here and stick to a healthy diet! The staff is very friendly and attentive. Yes the bartender whistles as mentioned in a previous review(lol), but I never minded it. My only wish is that they get a better beer selection in the future, but I know there would probably need to be a greater demand for it than what exists at the moment.

Best place to eat near base by far. Good service great beer and family friendly in the early evening. I would say that they are a bit pricey and could drop a little but in this area supply and demand is in affect. Friendly staff and rotating chef specials keep this place fresh and fun.

5 stars because it is the best place for dinner or lunch in the area. Even better was the most friendliest waitress. Ask for Chelsea, she is very nice and will make sure your experience at Tara’s is a good one. This place is a hole in the wall but the food was very good!

Best hole in the wall spot in the area. Tara is such a sweetheart and works so hard! The food is amazing!!! I seriously loved everything I tried. They are known for their crab dip which was so good but honestly I can’t say anything was bad. Get it allll! I will definitely be back.

For just shy of $ 70(not counting tip), we got two filets(medium rare) with loaded baked potatoes, each with soup and one of us got a soda. We took two desserts to go. The French onion soup was amazing. The New England clam chowder was not that great. The filets were cooked PERFECTLY, but I would ask for it next time without all that dark brown cream cheese gravy stuff on it. Our server was awesome and the hostess super as well. Excellent service. My only peeve… Please, please, please. Someone please ask the bartender to stop whistling. Loud whistling. ALL through out our meal. Please. No one wants to hear you whistle!!! A shrill, loud whistle, with too much vibrato and add-lib solos to songs. Please stop. It’s rude. It was like you were sitting at our table, whistling in my ear while I was trying to eat and have a conversation.

Solid local tavern. Could definitely spike up craft beer selection. Portions and food were always great. They also have a rewards program too! Which is awesome. Overall great establishment.

Words can’t even begin to describe how good Tara’s Tavern is! I ordered the French onion roast beef sandwich and my husband ordered the ReVamp sandwhich, and we shared the fried pickles appetizer. We didn’t expect too much from this place considering we live in the middle of nowhere, but boy were we wrong. The French onion soup was amazing, I wanted to pick the bowl up and drink it straight. The sandwhich was cooked perfectly. I had a few bites of my husbands sandwhich, and all of the flavors complemented each other so well. Our waitress was very friendly, I wish I had gotten her name so thank her. Staying late for the live band tonight!

The people that wrote bad reviews of this place, all have less than 3 reviews on their account and they do not give good reviews to any restaurant! I am a firm believer in not even writing a review unless i have been there at least 2 times. This place is great. It is a great American Style bar and grille. If you are in the area and you want great grilled meats and veggies, this is the place. The only thing to consider, if you go when a live band is playing, you cannot hold a conversation with anyone, even if they are standing right next to you. So call ahead if its later in the evening on a friday or saturday night. If you don’t see something on the menu, they may be able to make it for you! Try a Vamp Sandwich, it’s awesome if you are a fan of buffalo flavor…

A friend and I went in for lunch. I had the classic hamburger with a side of sautéed spinach, and he had something to the tune of «the best chicken sandwich ever» was the name of it. He also had a side of the sweet potato fries. We both enjoyed our food very much. The service was really good. We were full and satisfied. My only thing was that the spinach was a little bland. A little garlic would liven it up. I put black pepper on if, and that was ok. Overall, the place isn’t huge, but there is room for groups of all sizes. I would love to go back to try something new.
