Tried this place with my mom after being curious about it for some time. We went on a Tuesday night around 8:30, so we weren’t surprised to be the only ones in there. A nice man seated us, and we had a kind female waitress who was just attentive enough. If old & and outdated décor gives you a bad vibe, then this isn’t the place for you. It may be old school, but it has a family/homey feel that we liked. Pretty plates too! Our waitress asked if we wanted hot tea right away, which was great because usually these days you have to ask! Our food came out got and fresh in about 10 minutes. Portions are big! We ordered chicken fingers, scallion pancakes, rice noodles and seaweed salad. The salad was new for us, and we loved it! We had leftovers to take home(score…I’ve always loved Chinese food for breakfast). We definitely would like to give this place our business again in the future!

Bad service along with bad food ready in 10 minutes. The person was rude and did not even care to answer questions we asked about the food selection.

Ordered take out today from Golden Garden including PuPu platter for two, General Tsao’s chicken, fried shrimp and fried rice. Told order would be ready in 15 minutes. Order ready on time and got home with items still nice and hot. Also asked for extra duck sauce and it was in there. Food here is consistently good and always as described on the menu. Prices are reasonable as well. Egg rolls and boneless ribs are the highlight of the pupu platter for me. I’ll be back!

Walked in. Restaurant was empty, bar was half full. The men’s room was disgusting. Waited for 10 minutes at our table. Nobody so much as said hi to us. Got up and left. The guy at the register did not look surprised to see us go.

I thought the food was everything I look for in a buffet style Chinese. Food was above average and the service was fine. The bar offers a very nice variety of tropical drinks that are served with the proper mixture of solutions. It will be a regular stop from now on.

I ordered lunch takeout from Golden Garden over the weekend. This«old school» restaurant also offers full service dining and a cocktail lounge. I ordered the L9 Szechuan Spicy Shrimp served with Pork Fried Rice and 2 Crab Rangoons. The food was ready to go in about 10 minutes. The main dish had a mix of celery, peppers, onions, and baby shrimp in a spicy brown sauce, which also had a salty taste and a slight oily consistency. The fried rice(golden) had a soft texture, a mix of tender roast pork chunks, onions, egg, sprouts, & scallions. The crab rangoons were merely a folded crispy deep fried skin with little cream cheese filling. Overall, the food I had was just okay with good lunch portions of the main dish and fried rice.

Like all Asian restaurants, there are always some dishes that are just okay and there are some that are fantastic. If you like spicy dishes(I sure do) the Golden Garden has some great selections. My favorite is the Singapore style rice noodles #131. The General Tso’s chicken is very good #48. And the Volcano Roll from the sushi bar is awesome. The ambience leaves a bit to be desired but the Polynesian drinks will soon make you forget about that(and anything else you were supposed to do today). If you want to make fun and interesting new friends the lounge offers a great dive-bar experience. The people are great and the bartenders are very cool.

I’ve eaten there twice in the past two weeks, ordering from their lunch specials. I like that they come with soup, and their wonton and egg drop are both delicious. As for the entrees, the first time I ordered something spicy, and it was quite good. The second time I ordered something non-spicy(cashew chicken), and it was disappointingly bland. I may stick to their spicy options from now on. Also, one of my pet peeves is places that round UP the sales tax(instead of simply rounding). Well, Golden Garden rounds up to the nearest nickel! Ouch!

Just waited for 35 minutes for the worst sushi I’ve had in forever. Eel was crunchy, avacados hard. Staff doesn’t care, place reeks of cigarette smoke even though they don’t smoke inside. All done!

Very bland. I’ve tasted more flavor at McDonalds. I had the«Hong Kong style rice noodles» with chicken. There was NO seasoning done whatsoever, not even salt or soy. The veggies ranged from hot to luke warm, so they were at least show to the fire, but they were not cooked at all, except for the carrot shavings, which appear to have been cooked with the rice noodles. While some veggies may arguably be better off with minimal cooking like celery, the onion was in that weird state between raw and cooked. I needed the duck sauce, hot mustard and soy just to add some character to the dish. The rice noodles were soggy, and the entire dish was sitting in a puddle of cook water. Even the tea was blah. I think it was supposed to have been jasmine, but I think Douglas Adams put it best in HHGTTG: «Almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea». The only thing on the table that didn’t disappoint was the glass of ice water. On the plus side, service was fast(I got there between lunch and dinner services) and for less than $ 10 there was enough food for two meals.

Just tried this place tonight for a quick take-out meal of standard appetizers: Shanghai Spring Rolls, Pan Fried Chinese Ravioli and Barbequed Boneless Spare Ribs. The Spring Rolls were pretty good; the Raviolis were very tough to cut through; and the Spare Ribs were possibly the worse that I’ve ever had. And I’ve had«junk» Chinese food in many places over the years. Each one was loaded with gristle and dried out to boot. I plan to bring the Ribs back to the restaurant tomorrow to complain in person. I had hoped that this place would be decent so that I wouldn’t have to travel to the other end of town to go to the Ocean Wok to get good Chinese fare. No such luck. I hate to base this review on such a small sample of what they offer, but I wont be going back to find out differently.

We ate at Golden Garden for the first time last night in need of an escape from the snow. Service was really slow in the beginning and our waitress spoke little English, which made ordering difficult. However, after we ordered it was smoother sailing. We had avocado rolls and spring rolls for appetizer. The avocado rolls were small. The spring rolls were tasty, but a little too greasy. For entrees, we had tofu with garlic sauce and scallops. Both portions were huge. The scallop dish came with a handful of large scallops, a good value and the tofu was tasty. Overall, it wasn’t fabulous but it wasn’t awful either. There are better options for Chinese food on the Seacoast, but for a good place close to home and for an affordable dinner we’ll probably go back.

Good Chinese/Szechuan food. All the usuals you would expect on a Chinese food menu with a few unique items. The fuzhow fried rice is worth a try. If you are looking for a gourmet upscale place I would look elsewhere but if you want really tasty food in a super friendly atmousphere this place is great. I have always eaten in the bar and the bartenders are super friendly.
