Bathrooms were padlocked on a Sunday with many people at the park, a real inconvenience. The pier was absolutely plastered with bird droppings. On the other hand, there is nice playground equipment and a lot of waterfront pavilion space. As another reviewer stated, it was also a hangout for local teens who were doing teen stuff and throwing trash. There was also a little kid riding a motorized dirt bike around the playground path, probably illegal and definitely a safety issue.

Bathroom not open. No outhouses. Nice location but please fix this problem so your park doesn’t smell like urine.

This is from the town’s website: The North East Community Park — located at the end of Walnut Street on the Northeast River, this is a 10 acre park with three picnic pavilions — the Crouch(larger of the three next to the playground equipment), Benjamin, and Levy, which can be rented for $ 25.00 per day for Town residents or $ 50 for non-residents, and the Gilbert Lighthouse Pavilion, primarily used for weddings, which can be rented for $ 150.00 a day. The North East Community Park has restrooms(open April — November), a volleyball court, a children’s playground, ample space for fishing and docking by the Upper Bay Museum. The park also has paved walkways throughout and ample benches for resting. My review: Although it’s a cute little park, with a nice little playground for kids and a fishing dock, it is a local hang out for the teens and people in their 20’s. For the people who live there, there isn’t much to do in that town so there are drugs, a lot of unemployment and people with too much time on their hands to get into trouble. I used to go to this park, years ago, for the wildlife since it’s right down the road from Elk Neck State Park sometimes cool birds would visit the park.
