Tremendous meal this morning. We ordered the Macintosh Apple and Cheddar omelet, Huevos Rancheros, and tried the Elk & Buffalo wild game sausage. Coffee was fresh roasted locally and delicious. Apple omelet was mild with complimentary flavors. The Huevos Rancheros on the other end of the flavor spectrum were explosive and tasty. The elk sausage was gamey and sweet, while the buffalo sausage was spicy and bold. Interesting and appropriate sides for the respective dishes ordered. Eclectic décor and Rock & Roll playing on the radio the entire time… Not surprising for a place that has the lyrics to its namesake on the stairs walking in. My new favorite breakfast joint in North Conway!

I was in town for a hockey tournament last week and found Stairway Café on Unilocal. It also happened to be very close to the house that I stayed in. You. Must. Eat. Here. We went twice. The first time I had the veggie scramble with a side of potatoes. Food is piping hot, fresh and perfectly cooked. Coffee is awesome. Day #2 was a pile of food — blueberry pancakes(with real maple syrup, of course…), scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and potatoes. Again — hot and fabulous. We even took a turkey club sandwich to go for the long drive home later that day. Hours later, it was still a great sandwich. My companion had the breakfast burrito on Saturday and an omelette(I think with apple in it) on Sunday. Happy happy. Portions are generous/just right… but not crazy«over the top-garbage-plate silliness», Service is friendly. The place is adorable — great décor and ambiance. It’s small, so there might be a wait. Be patient… it’s worth it. They do a good job of turning over tables and keeping the flow going. There are lots of other great breakfast choices — something for everyone. If I’m back North Conway, I’m here.

Dear Stairway Café, I love you. Please marry me! I’m lucky I don’t live close by, I’d weigh 400 pounds because of you. We stopped in on a whim, sat outside on a gorgeous day, had a cheery and fun server and amazing coffee to start. He got a wild game sausage breakfast — YEEHAW! Nailed it! I got the best omelet of my life — goat cheese, bacon, spinach and red peppers. It was so fluffy and huge, my dreams are made of this omelet! Both came with sides or hash browns, expertly grilled and seasoned. Great toast and a lovely grilled biscuit. These ladies are doing it right! We WILL return!
