The Glue Factory

Not only does the name of the store leave a bad taste with consumers, but the customer service is nonexistent. Every time I have stepped into this store, the women have not only been unfriendly, but they seem to look through me. I have never felt more uncomfortable in a store in my life. Prices are high, workers are unfriendly and act as if they are too busy and above customers. I give this store a 10

The Glue Factory? Is it a factory that makes glue? What’s glue made out of again? Oh… um. Well. Despite the name that I’m desperately convincing myself is derived from the glue needed to make many of the adorable things they sell, this place is wonderful. It’s like a gift shop in that it is filled with an array of items that would make fantastic gifts, and it’s a housewares shop in that much of the selection is intended for display and/​or use in a home setting. A gift shop that is the anti-​Sharper Image. A home goods store that laughs off comparison to Pottery Barn. If Pier 1 went to therapy and talked about their dreams and ambitions, the therapist would point out jealousy of The Glue Factory.
Come here for special gifts to close friends that have everything, any time you need something for a mother-​in-​law, and when you need a good-​first-​impression hostess gift. Please remember that last part should you ever come to my place for dinner. This store is not as helpful when searching for something small things — by that I mean really small. My latest visit I was hoping to find some cute fridge magnets. I scoured the many shelves in the multiple rooms but alas, found no magnets, save for the tempting metal calendar with magnetic days and numbers. Numerous figurines, an array of salt & pepper shakers, sophisticated pen & pad sets, but not magnets. Lesson learned, this store you must have an open mind. They also have Vera Bradley stuff, lots of it. If the prices were just a tad lower and maybe if I had found the magnets I was looking for, this would be a 5 star establishment.
Oh, and on Tuesdays if you bring their bag you get 10% off. Maybe any bag, but probably their bag. Maybe this isn’t a thing any more. I never remember on Tuesdays and end up there any other day of the week BUT Tuesday. So good luck with that.
