Found a new place right in the same town name is Sichuan Palace! Great food, almost identical and other types of dishes are delicious

This place seems to be gone. It’s been closed for months. It was good food. I hope they come back.

I visited this place when on business in Andover. I was in the mood for some really good Sichuanese. So I decided to use Unilocal and search. Found a couple that looked very good, one was Sichaun Gourmet and the other was Szechuan Chef both reviews look very inviting. Made a decision to head to Szechuan Chef due to it being a lot closer to where we were staying. Arrived at the location around 7:30PM and noticed no was at the restaurant. There were 3 people that were in the front, one on the phone and one lady that looked like the cook and the other a waitress that was in the process of busing a table of a customer that probably just left. Mind you, there doesn’t seem to have any customers in the restaurant. The dude on the phone finally said, just sit where you like and we will bring you our menus. The waitress walked by and asked what would you like to drink. My response was«bing shui»” which means ice water and she looked at me like I had 3 heads and muttered«huh!!!» So I responded, «bing shui» and then she said«huh!!!» again. By this time I was getting annoyed myself so I said«wo yao bing shui, ni mingbai ma”(I want ice water, do you understand?). After providing us with a menu, my friend and I were already having a bad vibe about the place. After glancing at the menu I noticed they had twice cook pork or in this case double cooked pork. So I asked the waitress what are the ingredients, I asked is it pork belly or is it just chopped pork that you normally find in fast food Chinese restaurants. Then she gave me that annoyed look like what am I talking about. Finally, the guy that was on the phone seemed to over hear our conversation and decided to come over and explain to me the difference. He said, the double cook pork that is on the menu is just the regular pork, but what you are describing is the double cook pork Chinese style. So when you order just make sure you say double cook pork Chinese style. This was kinda odd since there was no where in the menu where it shows two different versions. That said we continued to look through the menu and noticed a small selection of vegetable dishes. So, I asked our waitress, are there any other vegetable dishes? Her response was so rude«That’s all the vegetable dishes we have!» By this time that was enough for us to stand up and walk out. I rated this restaurant a 1 star strictly on bad service! Never going back! We ended going to Sichaun Gourment and found it to be a 5 star rating. The food was authentic and waitresses were friendly and greeted us with a smile. They were also willing to explain how the food was prepared. Also, the Chinese lady understood what«bing shui» meant and when I ordered the double cook pork and the fish fillet with red chilli sauce it was exactly how its supposed to be prepared!

This is by far the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. I tried it on a co-workers recommendation over 3 years ago when I lived nearby. I have since moved away(half hour) and we won’t go anywhere else but szechuan chef because the food is so good and the quality is top notch. I’m not sure but it seems like they don’t use msg, I never feel awful after I eat there or find my self starving 30 minutes later like other Chinese food. The pork fried rice is excellent, the BEST hot and sour soup I’ve ever had, seriously! I also enjoy the sesame chicken, boneless spareribs, teriyaki beef and crab Rangoon. Honestly, you can’t go wrong at this restaurant. I ask them to open a location near me every time I go in!

Best Chinese food in Chelmsford! Wayne knows how to take care of his guests; excellent customer service and great chow too. I get the double cooked pork with no bean curd and the dumplings here regularly. Also good is the schechuan crispy beef. They do have a bar but there are only four seats and a television that is awkwardly situated on a side wall. Always a good take for eat in or take out in my humble opinion!

Overrated. Food was decent but nothing to brag about like other reviews. Service was inattentive.

I stopped in at Szechuan Chef for lunch takeout on a cold Saturday afternoon. The place was pretty quiet around 2:30PM, which meant prompt service. I ordered the Shrimp & Scallops Imperial($ 7.95 plus tax) served with fried rice and a big chicken wing, which was packed and ready to go in under 10 minutes. The portion size was good. The main dish had a mix of jumbo shrimp(cleaned), sea scallops, onions, peppers, & baby corn in a spicy red sauce. The fried rice had a soft texture with a mix of onion and egg. The chicken wing was crisp on the outside with ample meat of bones. Overall, the food I had tasted pretty good and fresh.

I think this is my favorite Chinese restaurant in this area. If you are a Chinese or those who is looking for authentic Chinese food, go this place and use the solo menu. They have so many wonderful dish and such a nice service! The owner is a very heart warm person and always greets you with friendly and warm smell. I don’t know how to describe these food, but if you are really into Chinese food such as spicy, you definitely need to go this place.

Typical American Chinese food place: giant menu w all kinds of stuff, huge inside w lots of round tables, food out in 7 minutes, hot tea w the meal. I had the orange chicken and asked for extra veggies, which they did. The sauce was quite tasty. The meat was as expected: low grade chicken(fatty w white/dark meat mix) and well fried w dough. Veggies were good, but saturated in sauce. My lady friend got an all veggie dish — same, good but saturated in sauce. So, if you’re looking for a solid typical American Chinese food experience, this is a good place to find it. It helped me to remember why I only eat at places like this every couple years. But I’m putting that extra orange sauce on everything I eat until it’s gone!

My wife and I went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were pleased to see that the place was fairly busy, and many of the patrons were Chinese. The restaurant was clean and well appointed — even having a well-stocked bar. We both ordered off the lunch menu. She had the Sesame Chicken, and I had the General Tsao’s Chicken. Hers was a little bland, though it was clear that they used fresh ingredients. Her fried rice was freshly made — it was obvious that it hadn’t been sitting around for a few hours. My General Tsao’s had the perfect heat signature — hot but not inedible, and had real red chili peppers in it, along with a bunch of vegetables. We also had spring rolls, which seemed as though they had just been made. The key word in this review, in case you’ve missed it, is fresh. With tip, our meal came to $ 20, which I thought was fair. I’d have to say this has become my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Greater Lowell area, and I look forward to going back. In the future, I may try some of the authentic Chinese entrees that are listed on their menu.

We’ve been going there for a few years, when we want some of the best non-Americanized Chinese food in the area. I usually order the«Chinese Menu» specialties like chicken with sour cabbage or steamed beef with hot sauce, but they also make the best roast pork lo mien I’ve ever had. I just found out that the restaurant’s real specialty is Taiwanese food, as this place is a sister to Jo Jo Taipei in Allston. The owner is a really nice guy, and showed me the«special» Chinese menu with all the Taiwanese dishes that are also available at Jo Jo Taipei. They also have traditional dishes in the week leading up to Chinese New Year. Now that I know this, I know I’m going to start exploring the good stuff on the hidden menu.

I really like this place. It has pretty nice décor but you don’t feel underdressed in a T-shirt and shorts. The staff is friendly. The service is not great, but it’s good. They seem to have a lot of Asian customers, a good sign. I’ve never had to wait for a table but sometimes I’ve had to wait a bit for takeout. I guess that means they do a lot of take-out. For me, the best reason to come here is the sar char. That’s some kind of Singapore barbecue. They offer it in pork, beef, shrimp and scallop. I’ve had them all and each is terrific. Also recommended is the szechuan spicy calamari. Why they use an Italian word for an ingredient in a Chinese restaurant is a mystery, but the squid is very tasty and never rubbery at all. I’m glad this place is only a few minutes from home, but I could see driving another quarter hour to eat here.

I don’t give 5 star reviews as easily as all the other reviewers seem to. The food is good, service good, portions large. I guess I am more used to Chinatown Chinese food, this is definitely more designed for American palates, so lots of the things are sweetened and thickened. Hot and spicy really overpowers the shrimp or chicken or tofu of whatever the dish is. On the practical side, when I dined here with a large group we were seated at a large table with a lazy susan in the center of the table. It was horribly off kilter and we were careful when turning the thing around to pass the tea pot or whatever. Later in the evening someone gave it a turn and toppled over a water glass that spilled all over me and my plate. There are better, more authentic Asian food places in the area, various Phở restaurants that I would choose over this establishment.

Good tasting food menu. I regularly go to this place with my friends and families. The one main thing that I like is the curry chicken over there. This is not part of menu but they’ll make it with the spice level you want. My family absolutely love their scallion pancake
