Gold’s Gym

While this gym is definitely a step up from the other gyms in the area, its definitely not on the same level as the other Gold’s I’ve visited around the East Coast. By that I’m talking about small differences such as there’s no smoothie bar or even towels available for members where every other Gold’s I’ve been to has that and then some. The equipment is good however I’ve noticed that it takes a while before anything gets fixed if its broken. The staff is friendly and they stay open late until 11pm on weekdays.

Solid gym with all the equipment I need. I like the cinema room and the staff. Price is reasonable!

Im pumped (get it?) to have an awesome gym down the street friendly staff, nice equipment, clean, easy on the wallet. Easy to get in and out, and you’re not paying extra for someone’s kid to use some Internet café. It’s weights and cardio. If you want extra (tanning, free guest pass, kids club, etc), you pay a little extra. Easy peasy. Highly recommended.

I’ve been a member here for over a year. Staff is friendly, it’s clean most of the time. What I think could improve is… The water fountain has hot hot water. Is this a ploy to sell water? I mean really, that’s so annoying. Also, why does it take so long to fix broken equipment.

Its what you expect from a Gold’s gym for the most part. My favorite part is the little circuit station they have in the back. I use that a lot. I only come on weekends because I use another gym during the week so I don’t experience how packed it gets on week nights.

This place is conveniently located and offers plenty of choices for fitness including bumper plates for Olympic style lifting. Friendly atmosphere and supportive staff. I highly recommend William Shealy as a trainer.

Great location, friendly staff, knowledgable and affable trainers, and a great selection of all the equipment you can think of.
Everything from the cardio area to the functional training area is great. Well organized and kept clean. The classes are worth a try as well with a wide range of classes and hours available throughout the day/​week.
The cost is hard to be also. With many different membership options from Gold Member to Month to Month it’s easy to find what works for you. I love that they offer tanning and childcare as well.

I’ve never been a member of a gym before, we’ve always had access to our base fitness facilities. However, we decided to give Gold’s a try this year. We have been very happy with our decision and the variety of classes they offer. The staff is amazing, especially our personal trainer Will, who also teaches many of the classes available. The front desk staff is always welcoming and Carla, the manager is readily available. We utilize the child care and our kids love the ladies in there, they are always friendly and caring.
The equipment is top of the line, the facility is brand new and the perks of being a member are totally worth the cost of membership. If you’re looking for a local gym, this is the one!

So far, so good.
I signed up here because they were having a grand opening special and they offer so many classes. I am very interested in body pump and spin classes, which are offered at this location. The times they are offered are convenient for me with work and school, so I appreciate them being considerate of those who need morning and those who need evening and offering both.
The large area for group classes is fantastic. It’s large enough to hold, I believe, 60 people. With it being so new, the classes are only a few people at a time– but it will fill up, I just know it. The spin area is great! A bit crowded, but gets the job done.
The cardio area has everything you need, is clean and has a bunch of TVs to watch. They also offer a cardio cinema– with a new movie playing everyday. I find this to be great, as it helps the time go quicker. I also like that it is dark in the room because sometimes the many lights in the main gym give me a headache.
The staff and clients are all so nice to each other. That makes me feel super great about being there and not feel any of the negative feelings I have had before at other places. Those who use the lifting area are quite courteous in re-​racking their weights, cleaning off the equipment they use and helping each other out.
The locker rooms are large and super clean! There are plenty of lockers (bring your own lock!). They lack in benches for sitting/​changing, but other than that– they’re good. (They may have actual changing rooms, I did not investigate further than the lockers. I do know they have showers– which looked sizable and nice from afar) The fans are a bit much, making it seem a little cold when changing, but it felt nice afterwards.
I would recommend this gym to anyone! They offer massage chairs, tanning and child care– if that is something you need. I chose a plan that did not include these things as I would never use them! The basic plan is all I needed since it included the classes. My membership includes the one on James Island, as well. I can go to either one. (It also allows me to go to any other one in the United States, up to 14 times per location– which is good for traveling)
I take away one star, as the location is a bit odd. It is in a run down shopping mall and is a bit sketchy. In a few months after going for more than a week, I will re-​update!

My wife and I went to check out the new Gold’s location about an hour after it opened. We had just come from another local gym that was also under construction. Gold’s is nice and has BRAND NEW equipment. It is very open and clean, but it only had about an hour of traffic. In my opinion, there is too much equipment in a small space. It seems like there is adequate space, but I was imagining it being packed and it will actually feel cramped when you get a few more people in there.
They aren’t 100% complete with construction, but everything is almost ready to go. Tanning, kids room, aerobics room, massage room, spin room. No spa. The best thing IMO, is the cardio cinema. It’s a dark room with a movie theater sized screen and cardio machines. They were playing Star Wars. I could see myself spending a few hours on a treadmill in there. If they put out a movie schedule, that will be a good way to get people in there at certain times, but it may get crowded.
There is only one hardwood floor classroom room for yoga/​aerobics, etc. It has two huge garage doors that open to the rest of the gym.
Overall…best atmosphere oh gyms in the area. Competitive prices… don’t quote me.

All are one-year…but they do have month-​to-​month for a bit higher. There is also a down payment for each plan and an annual maintenance fee due every February.
