Fender Mender of N Charleston

My wife’s car had a damaged rear bumper. State Farm recommended two shops one of which was Fender Mender. After reading the reviews, checking with the BBB and driving by both shops we decided to go to Fender Mender.
Let me start off by saying how very profession Fender Mender was. I went in on a Tuesday and a very polite, knowledgable and helpful employee named Josh assisted me. He took all the information, made recommendations and we set up the repair for the following Tuesday. Just as promised by Tuesday afternoon I had been emailed the estimate.
When Tuesday came we dropped off the car in the early morning and told Josh it would be helpful if it was finished before noon on Wednesday. Imagine how shocked I was to have Josh call on Wednesday morning telling me the car would be ready at 9:30AM.
When we went to pick up the car my wife was thrilled at how well the paint matched and how nice the repair was. They vacuumed the car, cleaned the windows and washed it. I paid the deductible and we were on our way.
I have had car repaired before and I must say that Fender Mender was probably one of the most professional shops we have used. I would not hesitate to go there again and I highly recommend them. I am tough and very critical so for me to recommend them it means they are excellent!

I went to Fender Mender thanks to a recommendation from State Farm. I had my first ever accident when some idiot ran a red light by the Aquarium and slammed into me. I knew almost immediately that at least the bumper would have to be replaced on the back end.
I’ve never experienced something like this before, so I was understandably shaken and confused. I came into Fender Mender on a Wednesday and they started up the file for my car – even though the woman’s insurance hadn’t come through yet. It did on Friday, so Scott (great guy!) told me to bring the car in the next Wednesday. They had to order a part for it first, and he was even kind enough to walk me through the ordering and buying process so I knew exactly what was going on with my car. I took the car in Wednesday, only to find out that the part they’d ordered was broken, so it was going to take an extra day for them to fix it. Still, it was pretty quick work: in Wednesday morning, out Friday afternoon with a brand new bumper.
The only issue I had was that they weren’t always responsive on the phone. I had to call them myself on Friday to see if the car was ready. They don’t work weekends, so I needed it done that day. It was finished, but a call would have been nice, since I had to leave work downtown early to pick it up before they closed at 5:30pm.

Don’t waste your time here. They don’t want to do the work or your business. I came in last week for an estimate to paint my car over as it is an old car with paint faded and peeling off. The guy in the office did his best to talk me out of doing business with Fender Mender… it’s was so unexpected and kinda funny haha. His first response was that all his paint jobs start at $ 3,500 and that they don’t do many paint overs. I was nice but I could tell from his tone and crooked eyes that he just wanted me to go away. I said okay this was my first starting place for estimates so I’m interested. We walked outside and he started to say how backed up they were because of insurance fixes that they were doing so that this job would take at least a couple of weeks maybe months to complete. So when we got to my car, he takes a glance and goes this car is not worth the money to fix because you will never get the return. I was thinking in my head thanks for the free opinion but this car may look factory on the outside but the powertrain is heavily modified with a performance engine/​transmission swapped from a long time ago/​still runs great and that I will keep for a while as a daily driver so it’s worth it to me. He even said, «if this was my car, I would not spend the money.» After looking over the car, his estimate started to go up by a thousand and then more and more. I just knew that I would not get a quality job even if I spent the money here as they did not want to do the job at all, so I thanked him and left. The impression that I got here was that the insurance claims business at this location is sooo good that they only want to stick with that and not do walk in work… go figure.
Funny part was that the paint job quote from the dealership was right under $ 3,000 and that’s a high end dealership’s quote.

No one wants to get in an accident.
Yet, with the shitty roads we have around here, it is inevitable.
Last month, it was my turn. I got rear-​ended at the I26 /​I526 interchange when traffic came to a sudden dead standstill.
Fender Mender was recommended by Allstate.
I was highly impressed with John Paul Liscovitz ! He was thorough and made sure Allstate got all the information they needed.
He has apps on his smart-​phone that allowed him to scan my auto’s bar-​code, take pictures, enter info, etc…
After the estimate, I took it back for the repair on a Monday and was told they would try to have it ready by Thursday — Friday at the latest.
I got a call on WEDNESDAY saying it was ready to be picked up!
FAST!
The bumper and light had to be replaced, and some chassis work done. The color match of the paint is outstanding. I can’t tell the difference.
Such capable, fast work makes a painful, frustrating situation easier to endure.
