I think, never in my life, I have seen so much different kinds of beer all together. You wouldn’t be able to review the first brewery as well as the last. The event itself is very well organized. Even better that I thought when at the end of the day, I finally realized that breweries were in alphabetical order. I might have still have a buzz from the night before. The theme is to get as many different kind and special beers out there. And they did good. Even the local breweries came with stuff you have never heard from. For those who are less interested in the beers, there’s a stage with bands but to be quite honest, I didn’t pay any attention to them. The only thing I would like to point out, was the lack of food trucks. The once who were present, were amazing, but I feel that if you sell over 500 tickets for the festival, you could attract a bit more food diversity. Especially when you are drinking 7% and up beers the whole day in the blastering South Carolinian sun

This is our second year of Brewvival and again it did not disappoint. It remains leaps and bounds superior than any other beer fest we have been to. You are bound to try and learn something new with the creative collection of beers showcased. This year we saw some crazy set ups involving beer being pumped through tanks with oysters and another with chicory. The selection will also give you a glimpse of the direction beer is moving at the moment. What’s trending this year? Persimmon, smoke and wood. We waited 45 min for a keg of the Founder’s CBS to be tapped and were not disappointed! Although it was super heavy and doubt I could drink more than the 1 oz pour offered. The crowd here is always nice, courteous, and skews a bit older than your typical beer fest crowd. Another bonus of going to Brewvival is enjoying food from the Autobahn truck. The memory of the curried tofu bahn mi stuck with me all year(despite being consumed amongst copious amounts of beer). And the cauliflower bahn mi did not disappoint this year either! You won’t find any ubiquitous Imbev selections, but you will find unique, exceptional brews, shared by gifted Brewers that cherish the art of beer making. Lastly, note that the grounds in which this event is held tend to get quite muddy. Rain boots are a must! Cheers!

Brewvival is one of my most favorite days of the year. Every time it comes around I get excited like a kid on Christmas. 2014 was my 3rd year attending and it’s been a big hit every time. The ticket price is higher than most other beer festivals in the area but for good reason. First is that most likely everyone there shares a similar passion for all things beer. Why else would you drop $ 65 to go drink beer all day. Second is that it’s a deal and a half. The beers being served here are all high quality brews and some of them are so rare that you’ll never see them again. You can’t really put a price on once in a lifetime brews can you? The organization seems to get better year after year as well. Last year was the year of the mud, and although it put a damper on the weather, it didn’t ruin anyone’s spirits. Every person there will remember that day for the rest of their lives but, I’m sure leading up to the event was a logistical nightmare from an event planners standpoint. This year seemed super organized with quick lines to get in and a beer list ready to go when you walked through the gates. All the breweries were in alphabetical order making it easy to find the exact beer you were looking for. The food is always great(not included in the ticket price) but they usually have the same folks come out each year(no Roti Rolls this year though, I’m assuming cause their truck is busted). Typically I make it tradition to eat a brat or two from Teds but this year I heard in advance about the Autobanh truck making a special Brewvival Banh with homemade sausage on a pretzel roll done banh mi style. It was a pretty unbelievable sandwich. Hopefully it will become a staple. If you love beer and can make it Charleston for the day, brewvival will not disappoint.
