This is such a fun little spot in Canton. We checked it out shortly after it opened and have been back several times. The restaurant is small and no frills, but the sushi is so good. And the owner is incredibly friendly. Definition of a fantastic small business. Great prices too. Would recommend for sure.

This is my go to place for Japanese. Everything I have had has been awesome. Sushi, sashimi, or hibachi, it’s all done right. There isn’t the usual hibachi show, but it’s not necessary to enjoy the great food. The seating my be limited but that just makes it cozy. The staff is fantastic. They remember me every time I return. They couldn’t be nicer.

I have ordered take out sushi from this place three times so I feel I’ve experienced enough to make a fair assessment. First of all, each time I’ve been in to pick up my order, no customers have been dining there. That might be a sign. The sushi itself is just OK: doesn’t taste as fresh as places like Wasabi and its either bland or overly doused in sauce. Really, it’s a small step above the sushi platters you get in the deli sections at grocery stores. The comments saying it’s the best sushi in Ohio(or even Canton) really blow my mind. Second of all, nearly every roll I’ve ordered has immediately fallen apart at the seam. I posted a picture to show the latest occurrence: a yellowtail roll that completely split open in the box before we even opened it. Lastly, if you’re going to use coupons from the mail, be sure to double check the expiration dates even if they arrived today. I received coupons in the mail a week or two ago, so I tried to use one today. It expired in March which I didn’t notice. I explained that the coupons had literally just came in the mail, but the lady still wouldn’t accept it. Acceptable if you are able to use a 20% off coupon. But for the menu prices, it’s not worth it.

This place is very small(wasn’t what we were expecting as far as hibachi) There are only about 7 booths and a small sushi bar. But I will say that the food was excellent. Particularly the sushi. We had sushi as an appetizer and we had hibachi dinners which came out quickly. I liked that they put a glaze on my shrimp the only down side is their hibachi dinners do not come with noodles. Just rice and vegetables. This is a great spot if your look for a smaller intimate hibachi dinner that’s quick and decently priced.

Would not have expected sushi this good in Akron. Great fish and very different rolls. Had the Fancy Roll and the Misawa Roll that had spicy blue crab. The presentation was also quite artistic. All this and an extremely reasonable price. Will come back the next time I’m in town.

I was really looking forward to this place based on all the great reviews but I was very disappointed. On a Friday night I thought it may be busy so I called ahead and got reservations for 8:30. When we arrived there was no one else in the restaurant so I guess we would not have needed the reservations! They have 7 tables and a small sushi bar that will hold a total of 30 people. So it’s a relatively small place. I ordered an Ocean roll which was decent. I was disappointed with the over abundance of sauce covering up the taste but it was still decent. The presentation of the roll was fantastic though. Best I have ever seen in the area. I also ordered a steak hibachi dinner. This meal is what really ruined the experience for me. The salad was not very good. It contained old lettuce, a cucumber slice and not enough dressing. The miso soup tasted dirty. The steak was way over cooked(I ordered medium). And all of the vegetables tasted like cooked carrots. I am pretty sure the veggies all came from a single can of mixed veggies. Either way they were not good. To make everything worse, the veggies and steak were all swimming in what I can only describe as a thick brown gravy. The rice was the only redeeming factor. It was actually fairly good. With so many other decent Japanese restaurants around I can not ever see myself visiting again.

The Gist: Quality sushi that is inexpensively priced. Courteous and prompt waitstaff and employees. Vegetarian sushi rolls/options available. Hidden sushi gem in NoCan. The Details: As another Unilocal-er noted, do not judge the place by the exterior; it’s hidden away in a small cluster of unrelated businesses.(I drove down Portage twice trying to locate it). The seating area is small but quaint, with booths, some tables, and I believe a small counter area. I’ve been looking for a good sushi place locally without having to drive to Akron, and this place hit the spot. The prices are amazing for the amount of sushi they give you, and the sushi itself is fresh.

Found this place here on Unilocal. It opened about three months ago(November 2014?). Came for the sushi. Will go back for the sushi again! Excellent presentation and very fresh and tasty. My wife and I shared the Misawa Roll and the Sushi Sandwich. Both were big and filling. The Sushi Sandwich was just like finger sandwiches but of sushi! Creatine and delicious. We also had the Clear soup and the Shrimp Dumpling soup. Both also delicious. We’ll go back for sushi and to try some of their Chinese dishes. One glitch. I ordered the mackerel sushi(2 pieces for $ 4) and they forgot it. I had to remind the server. Other than that, it was a great visit. Friendly staff too.

Best sushi in canton, agree with every review on here. Great service from Allen — super nice guy and attentive. Place is small but was completely full, which I was happy to see because I’m rooting for them to succeed. Dragon Roll was great, spicy crab roll was best spicy crab we have ever had. My wife isn’t a big sushi lover but always tries it — she loved the spicy crab. She ordered hibachi chicken and fried rice, which was also great. Prices are super reasonable. Definitely will be back.

Oddly enough, I stumbled across this place while looking on Unilocal for someplace my friend could get good, homemade soup. As an aside, I noted to her that Canton had a new sushi place that looked good and we should try it sometime. She said, «Well, how about tonight?» I said, «But you want soup.» She said she was sure she could get some kind of soup there, and so we went. This is an easy place to miss in a small strip mall area next to the True Value hardware plaza on Portage St. If you are not specifically looking for it, you would most likely not even notice it was there. But this is one of the primary reason my friend and I use Unilocal: it helps us find the small, locally-owned, out-of-the-way places that we would otherwise not notice but that usually have the best food. Misawa is no exception. It is a small place. 6 booths, one table that seats 8, and 4 stools at the sushi bar. All the better, I say. With the owner doing everything from seating, waiting tables, cooking(he does have a sushi chef), and serving, this is about as big as he could safely get. In spite of that, however, we have not wanted for or lacked anything in our two trips there. Before I go on, you should know that the term«hibachi» or «teppanyaki» may be technically true; however, don’t go expecting flaming tableside grilling and a chef throwing eggs into his hat, All that magic happens in the kitchen behind the sushi bar. But magic it is. I go to a sushi bar exclusively for the sushi, and although there is a full menu of other entrée favorites, I will probably never order any of them… because the sushi is just that good. I have tried four different rolls: the spider roll, the ocean roll, the tiger roll, and the rock and roll. None disappointed, although the ocean roll was definitely my favorite. OMGOSH! THEMANGOSALSA! The fish is fresh and obviously quality. It has none of that mealy texture or fishy smell that lesser quality, previously-frozen fish has. In fact, the one night I went, the owner was excited that I had ordered the rock-n-roll b/c he had just got fresh lobster in that afternoon. It’s all just pure, fresh, briny goodness. And he doesn’t overwhelm the roll with too much rice as some other places do, so as a customer, I feel as if I am really getting my money’s worth. And the presentation is just beautiful. Chefs know that you eat first with your eyes, and this place feeds you a feast before it even hits your palate. The only two things that need improvement – to be fair, I don’t know this for myself. I am going by what my friend had to say – are that the hot tea needs to be stronger as does the broth for the seafood soup. since I am not likely to order either of those two things, they don’t affect me in the least! I have eaten sushi all over the country. It is the one thing I KNOW I could eat every day forever and never tire of. So as long as Misawa maintains the very high standard it has set for itself, I will continue to go for the sushi b/c it rivals the best I’ve had!

Presentation was fantastic. Everything was fresh and the service was good. I would definitely recommend the Ocean Roll, not overwhelming like I think a lot of mostly fish rolls are! Definitely will be back to try more.

Among my favorite places to eat in town — regardless of food style and niche. Misawa continues to impress me and I have yet to even have an average meal here, its always been great. I finally made it there during dinner hours, although it was not much different than lunch it was nice to bring my family there. We all had a wonderful experience and the kids even loved the chicken fried rice(which I can see why, it was delicious). Of the upscale rolls, my favorite is probably the ocean roll, but I have many more still to try. If you are going for the simple roll combo lunch, try the alaskan or the pepper tuna avocado rolls. They both are clean, fresh and awesome. I was also able to try the salmon hibachi which also blew me away in the value category. A ton of good salmon for a good price. This place probably will never get the credit it deserves because of the size and strip mall location, but I promise you it deserves all the accolades. They do not have alcohol(bummer), but you can BYOB(sweet). Try it. Do it.

Due to its location, I may have never found Misawa Sushi if it wasn’t for Unilocal. But don’t be fooled; this is NOT to be mistaken for your typical Chinese/Japanese take-out joint. The food is absolutely delicious, the service is top-notch, and the price is unbelievably reasonable. I would dare to say this easily trumps even the high-end sushi/hibachi bars in the Canton area, while still being half the cost! (The Godzilla Roll will bring new meaning to your life)

Ok first off I want to start off by saying DON’T judge a book by it’s cover… we pulled up to the building and nobody was there, it looks like a little carry out place(Which it is, but also eat-in) and we almost turned away. So glad we didn’t! This place is definitely a hidden gem. The sushi is delicious and they have a special every night where you pick 2 hand rolls for 7.99(8 pieces each roll). I got the spicy crab, and it was phenomenal. For dinner I had the Hibachi Shrimp, and my boyfriend had the Bento Box with beef… They were both delicious! You get several large pieces of shrimp, and they are plentiful on the vegetables. It also came with the option of Fried or white rice and soup/salad. Just as good as Wasabi, or the local chain places but for a better price! We walked out of there with 2 adults and 2 kids and our bill was $ 54.00. Not bad for 2 orders of sushi, 2 meals, and a kids meal(that they split) plus drinks. The waiter who i assume is the owner was very nice, friendly, and brought out free green tea ice cream which was also delicious. Overall you have to give this place a try… and refer your friends, the décor is not going to get customers this is definitely going to have to be a «word of mouth» type business.

The restaurant is in a small plaza and is an awesome hidden treasure! The food is affordable and very tasty and presented beautifully. The service is amazingly attentive, superior to other restaurants. We were offered a special sushi roll on the house for returning for our second time. The experience was overall great for our stomachs, and our wallets.
