I would agree with some of the sentiments below. Prior to moving out of state, I saw Dr. Haupt for several years and didn’t have a problem with her or my care. The problem, however, comes in with how the office is run: always holding for an extended period when calling to make an appointment, always waiting past appointment time, borderline rude front office staff, having to make two appointments, etc. Once incident sticks in my mind — A year or two ago, I was looking through my insurance EOBs and noticed a discrepancy… I had been in for bloodwork only and they coded the visit as a physical, plus submitted for reimbursement for a blood test that I did not need, and was not ordered by the doctor. I have a degree in Med Lab, and know which tests are usually ordered together, so it jumped out at me right away. While neither issue cost me more out of pocket, the visit to the lab being coded as a physical struck me as a potential problem, should later in the year I need or want an actual physical, I was worried insurance would not cover it, since I’d «already had one». I spoke several times to my insurance company and to FMSC’s billing service(through Aultman, if I remember correctly), with both asserting that I would need to have it corrected by FMSC. Let me not mince words — the office manager/billing person had ZERO interest in helping me. Further, she seemed confused(and subsequently irritated) about why I even cared, since what they had done had not cost me any money out of pocket. I received no resolution to my problem, and thankfully, it was not an issue. I know they are busy, but this is at best not acceptable, and at worst, could possibly be construed as insurance fraud should one want to push the issue. We moved out of state last summer, so I no longer use this practice. However, it pays to remember that a good doctor is only part of the equation.

I partially agree with Michael’s comments, as I do usually wait regardless of when my appointment is. However, the offset to that is that I never feel rushed with Dr. Metzger or any of the other providers that see me. To me, the wait is worth the service. I have been going there for 15 years and never feel that the doctor is not truly engaged in trying to help me.

First impressions where horrible. Told my appointment was at 1 got there and said there was a schedule conflict and made my appointment at 2. Was called in and no even acknowledge the wait and was very cold. The only person that was nice was Jennifer Who took care of my issue.

I see Dr Kathy Haupt, and I really like her, but I have a problem with the way this office runs. My husband goes to a different family practice, and he is seen by his Doctor and has his blood lab work rolled into one appointment. At Family Medicine, you have to come in on two different days… one day for your blood work and another day for your appointment. This also means that I end up paying two $ 15 copays($ 30 total) for the same services my husband pays $ 15 for. We are on the same insurance plan, so I feel it’s wrong that Family Medicine gets to double up on copays, when other practices encompass all services on one day and for one copay. I really like Dr Haupt, but I am going to switch to my husband’s practice to simplify my life and save some money. I also wanted to note that I get white coat hypertention, so during my last visit I asked the nurse to let me sit and relax for a few minutes before taking my blood pressure, but she rushed me and took it as soon as I got in the room, and sure enough it was higher… I didn’t like that my wishes were not honored in this aspect either.
