Went here with a group for dinner and drinks. The menu was reasonably priced and the portions were satisfying. The grilled vegetable wrap was tasty, and the steak on the steak sandwich was cooked nicely. Excellent cinnamon sauce with the sweet potato fries! For what I expected to be an ‘around-the-corner’ bar I was very pleased with the menu and the quality of the food. The drinks lasted until karaōke(Friday nights) started. Fun time but a random crowd and very eclectic songs sang.

Wow what a little hole in the wall– great place for food! Had the crab n shrimp app, and it was great! Ordered the blackened chicken pasta meal for dinner– it was a huge portion, had like 2 meals for left overs! It had super creamy spicy Alfredo sauce that was out of this world! The chicken had a great spice to it, so tasty! I will definitely be going back for more! Don’t forget to take pictures by the lake behind the restaurant!

Really by the looks of it, you might pass it by. Once inside, you might question your decision. But when you order and take that first bite! It’s heaven! Boom! Nothing has been a disappointment ever! I almost want to keep it my secret place, so that I can always get a table. The food is GREAT! The people are so NICE! and the chef is AMAZING! So next time you are in the neighborhood or want to take a drive… Come out to this little gem tucked away in the woods and experience the deliciousness inside these walls! You won’t regret it and you won’t forget it either! Be prepared to say wow! And yummmmm!

Stuck in the woods and, yes, by a lake is this really nice dive bar that seems to be the shelter for some of my dearest Unilocal friends. I almost felt a duty to visit and pay my respects, and it was certainly a nice evening. We picked a spot on the deck and ordered up some appetizers – the buffalo chicken balls were excellent, and the stuffed pretzel was also good. Dinner consisted of the French Dip – the shaved beef was phenomenal – and a burger. We both enjoyed our food and found service to be great. I’ll definitely have to return when the guys are hanging out.

A VERY comfortable, great-looking place in a gorgeous setting, with really cold draft beer. Would get 4 stars even if food was so-so. But week-night dinner food and service were superb, even including an unexpectedly fantastic chocolate-y dessert. So much more of a treat than you’ll expect from such an unassuming place!

Only sat in the bar, shared a platter with my friend. Food was just okay. Beer was cold, bartenders were friendly.

The perfect dive! I will not convolute this review with homer sensationalism, come and experience this kick ass bar/restaurant for yourself and decide. Less is more, expect less from Lory’s and you’ll receive all you can handle 10 fold. And that’s what makes this place AWESOME!

The most beautiful bar around. Lorys Lakeside offers terrific views, especially this time of year, with the leaves changing. It is in the middle of the woods and has a beautiful lake right outside. There are tables set up right on the water to enjoy the tranquility. The bar itself is so cozy. It’s decorated for the seasons and there is a fireplace as well. There is an internet jukebox and pool tables! The bartenders are really nice and the menu is killer! The food here is so, so good. I feel it’s a bit pricey though and the portions aren’t too big. A basket of fried shrimp is literally 5 shrimp. They are incredibly tasty, but 5 definitely doesn’t constitute a basket. I would also recommend the crab pretzel, kind of on the small side again, but really tasty. I absolutely love coming here. If you are in the area definitely stop in and you will not be disappointed. It is a far cry from any crowded, noisy bar. You will feel right at home.

This place is great. Beautiful location next to a late. The food is great. Wonderful atmosphere that’s different and unique. First time here was for an engagement party outside. Have to say I was amazed at how well we were taken care of with the people that worked there.

Really good chicken pot pie and it’s huge. Plus fun atmosphere around 9 on Fridays for karaōke and billards. It’s a pretty relaxin place

I knew this place would be unique just based on the fact that it seems to be a bar/grill located inside of a farmhouse that sits at the edge of a lake. Lory’s actually has a huge amount of outdoor space; I hope they take advantage of that in better weather. For now, what you get is a basic bar, pool table, jukebox(which you can control from your phone via App and credit card), and plenty of bar tables. Drinks were strong and not too expensive. We didn’t try the food but I saw there were specials posted. There seemed to be a battle for the jukebox. People were getting pretty serious about it, huddled into groups and paying to bump up their songs and disrupt other peoples playlists. Intense! This is a place with character… Come here without pretensions and just kick back.

What can I say? The bartender was awesome! Made great drinks and really took good care of us. Karaōke was the usual until the owner’s girlfriend got up and really belted out an amazing song and it just went up hi from there. This time around I didn’t eat food. It was a liquids only night. Pumpkin Pie shots were awesome!!! The atmosphere is something to behold. I will go here frequently in the future.

I am the biggest fan of this bar. It is always such a great time. The people watching is the best in the EB area. The lake is right there and they have a dock you can walk out on and get a little introspective or stupid… your choice. They have a great Touch Tunes thingy there you can control from your phone and play whatever you want. I suggest getting there around 7pm on a Friday for the most fun!

I realized I am lazy when I went to Lory’s the other day. I’ve wanted to have a beer here lakeside for 7 years and just got around to it last weekend. I live about 4 miles away. Myself and a few others were sitting around doing absolutely nothing when I blurted out «Let’s go to Lory’s Lakeside» My brother said«That place is cool I’ve been there once before and it’s a perfect night for that.» My girlfriend and friend both grew up in East Brunswick said…“Where the hell is that”? I said«Right on the corner from Bob’s house out in the woods about 4 miles from here.» They replied«Is that EB?» I said«Technically N. Brunswick» When we walked in I instantly noticed the place was pretty clean… leaps and bounds cleaner looking than The Golden Lion(no offense I do enjoy The Lion). They had the AC bumping and I do appreciate that for summer night’s, but we were actually looking to sit outside. I noticed a couple of pool tables, some nice TVs and a bar that was plenty big. They had signs for food specials all over the place, but it was a bit late for that. One thing that particularly caught my eye was the Sunday Pig Roast sign. I asked if they are doing whole pig outside on a grill, and the girl said«no it’s actually cooked in the kitchen». That’s fine I just thought since they have that HUGE outside area they would be taking advantage of it and sending out some smoke signals. No body was sitting outside so we had a pick of anywhere we would like. They have bench’s and table’s either out in the open or under tents. There is also 1 gazebo with a table for 4 in it. The landscaping seemed well kept. I have 2 minor issue’s with Lory’s… 1. I don’t understand how they could be letting all that space go to waste!!! They should have some outdoor events or maybe some backyard games to play. 2. $ 16.50 for a pitcher of Yueng and a pint of Miller Lite? Something in that combo is over priced. I will return and try some food. Update will follow.

Kill-kill-kill ha-ha-ha. While you’re smooching with your date at Lory’s Lakeside, you fail to see the machete wielding maniac slowly walking out of the water. He is slowly walking towards you leaving muddy footprints behind him. Water droplets bead off his mask; the noise gives it away. She’s the first to see him. As she throws you off her, while screaming in terror, you turn around but it too late. I grew up watching entirely too many horror movies, but when I was chilling at Lory’s Lakeside the first thing I thought about was Friday the 13th. The place isn’t scary by any means. The outside is actually great and beautifully decorated. There are benches, seats, tables, and a gazebo lined up along the lakeside at Lory’s. You can enjoy a great view of the lake while sipping your beverage of choice. The outdoor seating by the lake really is pretty sweet and there is plenty of room for larger parties. The inside of Lory’s reminded of a classic bar. There’s nothing fancy about it, but it’s not overly divey either. They have a pool table, jute box, tables, and a bar area. The bartender was friendly and cool. I’d definitely comeback to Lory’s for another go. PS. Pig roast on Sundays.

I pass this bar all the time, so I finally decided to go with some friends. The atmosphere is decent, the service was not bad, I felt bad Jen the server was by herself. The menu is crazy! There is soooooo much food to choose from. I think it took us about a half hour to decide what we wanted to eat. The shrimp and crab dip is a must!!! I will def be going back. I

The food is good, & the atmosphere is decent. The service is lacking a bit though. Also, the karaōke guy caters to the regulars more than the new people. It shouldn’t take over 2 hours for someone to never get called to perform.

Oh c’mon people. Sure, Lory’s doesn’t live up to even half its potential, considering the awesome location they have right on the lake. But Lory’s has character. Or shall I say CHARACTERS? Lory’s is a really strange joint filled with really strange, but often interesting people. It’s a dive, to be sure. Characters galore. Other bartenders describe Lory’s as the place all the people who got banned from all the other bars in the area go. Indeed. That’s my kind of joint. Never a dull time here. If you’ve ever been to Rudy’s in Hells Kitchen, New York City, then you’ll know what I mean. Do note though that I have never tried the food, and I’m not sure I ever plan on trying the food… UPDATE: Started trying to food ever since Hurricane Sandy hit and Lory’s kept their power. It’s surprisingly fresh and good! Definitely get the sliders!

SO and I passed this place ages ago when we were living in the area and never went. Now that we live out in Princeton, for some reason we found ourselves here, just looking to go somewhere that was going to be reasonable and have simple bar fare. We were reminded of lorys and were in the mood for a drive. We ate at the bar and the server/bartender was really sweet and brought us menus quickly. I got the buffalo chicken salad, and SO got the pulled pork sandwich special and a salad. Our food came out quickly enough, and my salad was pretty huge. It was more like BBQ chicken, but good enough. The red roasted peppers and jalapenos definitely added to the salad. SO’s sandwich was pretty good, but he did say that his side salad was bad and should have gotten fries instead. The atmosphere is typical bar– lots of Tvs, and it wasn’t too full for a saturday night(it was the saturday after turkey day). A lot of the customers at the actual bar seem to be regulars. The bartenders and server on duty were very good though, since they made sure we never had any empty drinks and cleared our plates after was finished eating. They also asked if we wanted anything else before the ktichen closed at 10. Our bill was super cheap considering we both ate, and SO had several beers– 35 bucks or so.

Please understand that this review is not based upon ordering from the menu, but from a pre-ordered set of items. I went here for a reunion event on a blustery October afternoon. Turns out we were eating under a tent near the water. It was a little cold, but not too uncomfortable. The menu was as follows: Hamburgers Hot Dogs Barbecue Chicken Peppers & Sausage Corn on the Cob Basic Salad Potato Salad Macaroni Salad Soft Drinks There was a cash bar, but no coffee, tea or dessert!(I heard a rumor that if you went into the restaurant you could get coffee or tea, but since this was a reunion, it seemed counter-intuitive to separate oneself from the group.) I was very unhappy with the meal. Nothing substantial for vegetarians. I only ate the corn and the macaroni salad. I paid the $ 30 per person, but don’t know how much was added for the reunion committee’s planning expenses. A friend said she had the exact same meal at Lory’s one year ago and paid $ 17 per person. Still too much for too little, as far as I’m concerned, especially if you don’t eat meat.
