Hair Mechanix

I am so torn on what to give this salon as far as the number of stars. My husband and I had two totally different experiences.
I had a wash, cut, neck rub (sweet!) and a style done here, and sadly the hairdresser that did an amazing job that day (Heather) followed her career elsewhere.
The amount of mail and emails I have received since then was a little much. As a first timer, they have you fill out a long questionnaire to get to know you better. Then they have a referral program, where they give you cards to hand out. Then they send flyers to your house, as well as a LOT of emails that I had to eventually opt out of.
After viewing their client galleries on their website, it was apparent they did mens’ haircuts as well. So, the good wife that I am, I sent my husband who was in dire need of a cut (and neck rub) down to Hair Mechanix to get his usual, run-​of-​the-​mill fade. A little over an hour later, my husband came home, looking slightly traumatized and very unhappy with his haircut. He said the neck rub was good… It was everything else that wasn’t.
I looked at his hair and there were a few long pieces here and there that were overlooked and uncut. I asked him how much he paid– He replied THIRTY DOLLARS! I almost lost it! Thirty dollars for a mens’ fade??? He told me he asked for a simple fade and the girl did his whole haircut with only scissors? No clippers! Then he proceeded to tell me that through the entire cut, the woman cutting his hair kept saying how hungry she was and kept burping in her closed mouth, next to his ear, over and over again. He was very unhappy, and because I feel that his experience, combined with that fact that a mens’ haircut should NEVER cost $ 30.00, EVER… I am unfortunately giving this salon 3 stars. Anywhere else, he wouldn’t pay more than $ 15.00 for a nice haircut.
Keep your burps to yourself and use clippers for a fade.

I have been going to Hair Mechanix for about a year now. I have not had a bad experience ever. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and knowledgable! I highly recommend visiting them!

I’ve gone to Hair Mechanix off and on for about 25 years. I try different places closer to me but always end up going back there. It’s by far the best salon in the area for a couple reasons. First, the stylists are extremely knowledgeable and current. They conduct themselves as professionals and are very friendly. The number one reason this salon is the best in the area is Debbie’s dedication to customer satisfaction. At Hair Mechanix they will make sure you’ve gotten what you wanted or they’ll do their best to fix it. I have never heard any stylist talking badly about another salon or stylist, even if a customer is complaining about another salon. If you want a current, quality haircut or color, you won’t be disappointed at Hair Mechanix. Owned and operated by the same person for twenty something years.
