We chose North Branch, because it is one of the few clinics that offers laparoscopic spays(also called keyhole spays), a much less invasive procedure than traditional spays. Moreover, the rates were reasonable, and we paid only a little more than we would have paid for a traditional spay in the Twin Cities, which made this a really great option not just for our pup, but also for our wallet. They did a great job — the incision was less than the size of a dime — they only removed the ovaries, and not the uterus. Our pup came home as if nothing had happened. She literally was her same old self, and it was difficult to keep her from jumping and running around like the 7 month dog she is. This is a small town vet, so don’t expect the kind of pooch spa you would find in Edina — but they did the job well and that’s all that matters to me. If you are considering making the trip up north in order to save your pup the pain of traditional spays, I think it’s absolutely worth it.
