Horrible food. Lomo salatado was reheated, how do I know? Few pieces of my steak were still cold. guess their microwave wasn’t working well. As a Peruvian, I’m disappointed. Will NOT be back. Shame it’s not like their other locations.

dont ask for delivery services they charge too much. I called the other day to ask for a delivery and the person on the phone told me about the new high prices. It bothers me because there’s so many restaurants that do not even charge for delivery services, they used to charged for the service but now the price is ridiculously high. She told me thats tge service they offer now and can not change it. she tried to keep my order and suggested me to pick it up. it was cheaper and faster. At least the food was great.

Their rotisserie chicken is great and so are the fries. Good food at cheap-ish prices.

Lot of food but it is worth it! First time having Peruvian cuisine, I enjoyed each and every second. My mom and I were near by so we just stop to check the place out. Together we got Jallea and Sudado de Marisco. When they came with our meals our eyes where wide open with our mouth dropped down to the floor. THEPLATESWEREHUGE! We didn’t know we ordered so much food for two people even knowing they told us the meals we big but we were so starving lol we didn’t listen. All in all, it was a great time to enjoy with family and the meals were great. I’ll come back again.

I’ve ordered and visited this restaurant on multiple occasions and two stars is all I can ever give it. I thought maybe they were having off days so I went again and I was still disappointed. The final straw was when I ordered a meal to go with the restaurant completely empty. I ordered a steak item on the menu so it may take a little longer than usual. 20 minutes go by then 30 minutes. Again, I am the only one there so I ask nicely and the person at cashier goes back into the kitchen and comes back saying only a couple more minutes. Fine then I sit down and wait some more. A family of 3 come in and order food and to my astonishment one of them ordered the same exact dish I ordered. I know this because the server was bringing them their hot plates. I then complain saying how have I not been served my food to go when I got there 30 minutes before them and they somehow have the same dish I ordered. The person in front tells me that the customers eating in are their first priority. Are you kidding me?! I began to walk out and as I was outside they rushed out begging me to wait that it was being bagged up. I finally received my order but after that experience they lost a customer indefinitely.

Food is good(i know because ive eatten there before) BUT never order on a weekend… sitting at home with the kids and two hours later No food. Manager said if it’s cold and I don’t want it just turn the driver away — horrible customer service!

It’s nice to have a quick place to get a chaufa or pollo saltado. Both yum and my favorite thing here is their salad with that delicious house dressing! They give good portions for the prices as well.

Loooooove this place! I found this place on Unilocal because as part of a cultural presentation for my class, I had to eat out at a Peruvian restaurant. So I picked this place because It was relatively close to where I live. What a great decision. This place has awesome lunch specials, for less than 10 bucks you can get a can of inca cola(typical Peruvian soda, delicious) with a heaping plate of arroz chaufa or chicken, there’s a couple options on the lunch menu. Well I ordered arroz chaufa… Soooo delicious. It came with a side salad and I was Soo stuffed by the end of the meal. Great décor and service in this location also. Parking is also not as bad in this area and definitely on the calmer end of bergenline. Really love this place.

A little pricey compared to the other Peruvian spots in the area, but their food is out of this world. I absolutely love eating here. Might stop by this weekend.

attempted to order delivery today and was rushed through my order. asked what the specials were and she told me that theres a lot of specials to list. I told her to just send me a grilled chicken breast and she asked what sides and i asked what they were her response was, ‘you know, like everywhere else’ so i asked for rice and beans. after the entire rude unhelpful hassle I tell her I’d like to pay by card she tells me sorry no cards, and hung up on me when I had cash. Anyways… NEXT!

Just want to update that this place is, in fact, Heaven on earth. My boyfriend and I get takeout at least once a week and occasionally go to sit down if we’re not being huge homebodies that particular day. Whenever he goes up to pay, they happily greet him by name. It’s super sweet. Always friendly service, always a mountain of delicious food for appropriate prices. And yes, they do offer tap water to drink. I’m convinced that the bad reviewers have sticks up their butts or something.

El Chevere is soooo good! Every time I visit my parents, I eat El Chevere — it seriously has become my «home cooked meal» haha(my parents never cook!). I was so glad that we no longer have to travel all the way to Passaic to buy some Peruvian rotisserie chicken so when they finally opened this restaurant in North Bergen I was so happy. Everything is so good! The rotisserie chicken, french fries, salad, and the rice are delicious! We usually order beforehand and then go pick it up but they also offer delivery. I really recommend take out or even dining in, the place is a bit small but still very accommodating.

I simply love this place. Anticuchos are good, pollo ala brasa is exellent, and the ceviche is off the hook! They make the ceviche right in front of you. That hot sauce was made by a saint. Arriba Peru!

This review is only based on their phone etiquette and customer service. I have never tried the food in this location. I called earlier today to place an order for delivery. I spoke English and when asked if they were delivering I was hung up upon. I called back 2 seconds later and the same man answered I spoke in Spanish and said hey I called before and you hung up. His response um I don’t know I just start picking up the phone. Ok. Anyways I started to place my order I asked him about the chicken combos they had and he had no idea what I was talking about. I decided not to even order from this place.

Ate here today for lunch. Had the Lomo beef and wife had the Lomo chicken. They both were hot, huge portions and delicious! I always liked Peruvian food, but never knew where to get it authentic style. Well, this is the real deal. Nice décor, clean, pleasant wait staff. If you like good Peruvian, you’ll love Chevere!

For 2.5 years now I have been looking for a Peruvian jawn in the NJ/NYC area where I could get my Lomo Saltado fix on. It finally happened and it nearly brought me to tears on how close it reminded me of my favorite Peruvian place back home in Cali. The Lomo Saltado was perfection. Their green sauce was on point and the super spicy yellow one had me salivating for more. Washed it all down with an Inca Cola and you can bet your ass I’ll be back. Delicious.

Omg, I heart this place! The food is so good, I eat like a monster here! Lol. I would say this is a no frills authentic local spot with a good selection of lunch specials. The yuca fritas with cheese sauce is amazing; perfectly fried to perfection with a great blend of spices in the sauce. The anticucho(beef heart; Peruvian street meat, lol) were a little tough but great flavor. Of course I always have to order anticucho when I eat Peruvian. The Parrillada Chevere is best of all(meat) worlds. It comes with anticuchos, chuleta(pork chops), chorizos, ¼ chicken and a veriety of tripe. For being born/raise Chinese, I totally love tripe. But this grilled tripe has a profound taste. It’s nothing like the Chinese or Portuguese tripe I’ve had. The perfectly grilled, seasoned«meat» is super tender and hits my taste buds in all the right places! You must try! The only thing i did not like in this dish was the pork chop which was a little dry and tough. Def worth a try here if you’re in the neighb!
