Absolutely lovely little coffee spot in North Bend! We were visiting family in the area and needed to kill some time and get a good cup of joe while waiting to meet up with them. I had noticed this book shop while running and suggested we give it a try to get something a bit more homemade and local. My husband ordered a mocha and a scone, and I got a flavored soy latte. Since we were staying in house, they came in giant mugs of coziness. We sat at their little porch-style tables and enjoyed our drinks. The smell of delicious soup filled the air as they were simultaneously prepping for the lunch hour. While service did take some time, they also took a lot of care, and we were clearly in no rush anyway. They even warmed up and buttered my husband’s scone for him. Overall, they put a lot of care and love into their business. If we lived there, I’d be back all the time. Delicious coffee and tasty baked goods with a smile.

Cute little coffeehouse with great service. Our coffees were really good and not sick sweet(we had a salted caramel Americano and caramel macchiato). We tried 2 other coffee shops while we were in town for 3 days and this was our fav.

Try the white coffee. Take Kristen’s suggestions and she will make the most incredible concoctions. I’m having a honey bee lavender blended latte’ with white coffee white chocolate and Salt and Straw couldn’t do any better!

I haven’t been here in a while but I used to go all the time. They were the best kept little secret with amazing homemade food. Pita and chips are awesome. They made great sandwiches too! To die for desserts and salads. I’m not a coffee drinker so I’ve only been here for the food but I love it. Customer Service has always been great, and they don’t take too long on your order.

The Grounds is, by far, THE best coffee around. Coming from a Seattle transplant, who’s super snobby about coffee, that’s saying an awful lot. The food is delicious, the coffee rich and clean, and the service is always friendly and helpful. This is a family-run business, invested in the community and run with a passion for what they do. They go above and beyond. It’s a must-try restaurant on the Oregon Coast.

Their masala chai is wonderful! — They have many selections of loose leaf teas. Its not too often that I get to enjoy a loose leaf chai like the one I had here. I also had a breakfast sandwich which was served promptly and piping hot. Delicious. The ladies who work here are super friendly and funny and seem genuinely interested in providing great service and a solid product. Five stars is not enough!

I’ll cut to the chase: We stood up and walked out after listening to the woman preparing our drinks and food give a long, loud explanation to another customer as to why _Song of the South_was her, «all-time favorite film» and how upset she was that it has been«banned» in America, «because it has slavery in it». She also went on to try and rationalize how the Confederate Battle Flag is misunderstood as a simple symbol of the rebellious spirit of the South. The customer she spoke to at least noted that while shows like Amos and Andy seemed fun at the time, «they’re just racist». That did not stop the woman behind the counter from going on and on with apologies for the racist symbols she loves. We decided to leave on principle. We did not wish to be served by nor patronize a business so unmindful of its customers, the naïve and ignorant nature of the conversation notwithstanding. Up to that point, we were having a great time until we sat there for over five minutes listening to this train wreck of romanticized nonsense. Our order was very simple and it still took over 15 minutes for them to heat a breakfast sandwich, make a mocha and steep some tea. Partly, I’m sure, for focus on her discussion. As we left, she attempted to assure us that she was not racist, «Oh! I’m not!!!» and offered to give us our money back. We just left. That was our experience.

The café is in what is now a bookstore, but you can tell used to be a bank. Great character architecturally. The café itself is clean, warm and welcoming. It was ideal for our rainy day coffee break. The staff is by far the friendliest human encounter we have had yet in Coos Bay. Hard working, wonderful people. So glad we stopped here. All the food is made fresh daily. The breakfast burritos and apricot peach mini loaf were perfect and the barrista knows her stuff!

The Grounds café is not closed. The hours M — F are 7am to 6 pm Sat 9 – 4 closed Sundays. Weekly lunch specials. Great coffee. All kinds of baked goods. Daily home made soups, and it’s inside a book store.

Had the best breakfast crescent ever! The homemade cinnamon coffee cake was the perfect complement to an amazing cup of coffee. The service was excellent! The owner is a local and a wealth of information, and has a wonderful sense of humor. The bonus is that the café is in the middle of a great bookstore! I had plenty of reading to keep me entertained while enjoying my breakfast!

The new owners, Chris and Andrea, have risen above what was already a stellar reputation, and given beautiful color and flavor to the ever changing menu. Whether your tastebuds are craving a fresh chowder, pasta, sandwich, handcrafted dessert, breakfast pastry, or you just need a hot coffee or blended drink, you will not leave disappointed. Ask for the Hubert Humphrey… top notch!

The grounds café is inside a great books store, «Books By The Bay» across from the library in North Bend, Oregon, on Highway 101 South. Chef Frank Murphy(an Irish gent, who brings some old-world Irish recipes and tradition to the Grounds Café) is an excellent chef and gentleman who serves an educational and delicious Traditional Irish Tea with a tasty spread of edibles and also passes along the tradition of High Tea and the food, atmosphere and stories that go with it. Chef Frank makes some outstanding Irish Brown Bread, a recipe from his mother’s kitchen, and soups that are to die for, not to mention paninis, lasagna, salads and more, and any of the items are great to eat in the café with tea or coffee, or easily readied to-go. Its so nice to grab a new book selection and sit with a cup of tea in this relaxed café and review some new reading materials to consider before purchasing it. All of the delicious selections here(did I say the soups are awesome) are made whenever possible from fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. The Curried Duck soup is a must, as is the cream of mushroom, butternut squash soup, cream of asparagus, and gumbo. Espresso shots are pulled very well, with every drink being made carefully and properly, and I am a coffee snob, so to speak. The Grounds Café also does catering, and if you check out the facebook page for this place you can see the amazing and artistic catering layouts that Chef Frank Murphy comes up with. it’s too amazing to be described in words!

This café is a North Bend gym. The food is great, the coffee is great, and the proprietor, Frank, is great. If you patronize this lovely little café you will find yourself in an enjoyable atmosphere, surrounded by books, and likely chatting with a man who has an Irish accent who will assuredly be wearing a Kilt; that is Frank.

I didn’t know it was possible to get soup this good at a window!!! So nice to have at least one place in town where I can get a wholesome meal without having to get out of my car. And sometimes a girl just needs a panini in her pj’s, ya’ know?

I had never been there before but I ordered a blended coffee, the barista was honest and told me she had never made one before. I paid about 4 dollars for my drink which I thought was fair. And it was worth it, she did a great job and I was very happy. I didn’t get anything else there but I browsed around a bit and they have some pastries and I believe some sandwiches. I liked it and will probably go back.

Most of the food(not all) I’ve eaten from this place has been«to go». Still… YUMMY!!! Real food, and for really good prices. It’s the real deal. You get hearty, wholesome soups, amazing sandwiches, homemade salads, and whatever in the coffee arena you’re interested in. NICE place to hang out, and what a nice option for lunch! Yes… I am a fan!

I am so glad that I discovered this place while working a week in Coos Bay. The lady that works the counter during the morning is so cheerful and makes the best cappuccino in Coos Bay! I am going to miss starting my morning off here.
