Beautiful trail! But beware of the ice! My friends and I hiked to the second lake yesterday(Nov 28th). There was ice half of the way up to the first lake. We didn’t expect it and came unprepared. Some hikers were wearing crampons with spikes and said it was fine, even on the descent. Our group was sliding around. I wish I had a sled for the way down. Luckily the sun was going down and I couldn’t see how much ice was actually on the ground(because frankly it freaks me out). Towards the end I slid and pulled my tibial collateral ligament. Boo hoo hoo. So prepare for ice at least towards the beginning of winter.

Awesome hidden gem in North Bend! About 6 miles roundtrip with several switchbacks. Nothing too difficult. Good for kids and dogs. Watch out for the rocks and tree stumps on the trail. I loved it here. Very peaceful and surrounded by Mt. Baker Snoqualmie Forest trees. Theres also a creek that runs through the trail. Good for taking a break and relaxing before getting to the lake. It’s probably a good 3 miles to Talapus Lake so make sure you bring a packed lunch or snacks and plenty of water. It’s definitely worth the hike. It is gorgeous! Beautiful lake tucked away in the forest. The only place to sit is on the many log pieces and enjoy the view. I will definitely be back!
