Alright, this place is closed and gone forever. Oh My Gyros now occupies this place. Can someone from Unilocal please update this!!!

Undercooked, soggy fries and an Italian beef that had super salty meat and dried out bread… for what I paid I could have gone to Portillo’s

My 12-year-old and I stopped in after school last week for an early dinner, expecting an alternative to the other lame fast food places. Instead, we found a fun place with cool stuff on the walls, really great burgers and dogs(we had both), super fries, and an unusually friendly guy manning the counter and drive-up window. I can’t speak to the 1– 2– and 3-star reviews, as I’ve only been there once. But we left with smiles on our faces, a pocketful of gumballs, and a free green milkshake(got a red gumball which means WINNER!!! of a shake). Next time I take the basketball team that I coach out for a victory celebration, we’re headed here. Joe(who must own the place because he acts like he cares) told me he supports local kids sports teams and to bring ‘em on in, but I’d bring the kids here even if that wasn’t the case. Another good sign: the drivethrough was busy non-stop the whole time we were there. I don’t give 5-stars without consideration — so, considering it’s a fast food hotdog place, it definitely warrants 5 stars for the good food and good time we had there. And my son just shook his head in agreement…

Drive in experience was strange. Was overcharged and even after telling them the price was wrong they said I was wrong, it’s not hard to add 3 numbers. Was given change, then after waiting too long, the food was bad. Soggy fries, cold beef, the cheese wasn’t even melted and the bun was hard. It was my first and last trip, there are better choices in the area.

They are super good! Fresh cut fries, Polish is amazing! Only $ 7 for a combo meal. It’s very clean inside. The girls their have such a great attitude and make you fee welcome. Will be coming back more often.

My husband and I decided to give it a real try. We ordered the #1 which is 2 hotdogs, a small fry and a small drink. We shared the meal and it was $ 9.98 after we upgraded the fry to a large cheese fry. The hotdogs were good, fries were decent. Cheese however did not taste like cheese. More like chemical paste.

Just sat down and analyzed my bill. I had to pay extra for celery salt and sport peppers. Really!!! That is a given on any chicago style dog. Seems shady. Never going back for that reason.

Gotta say… Prices were VERY high and the food wasn’t that good. Even the service in the drive thru was weird, to say the least. We were told to pull up, but pull up where? Just in front of the fence, which made the car behind me have to go around and it was very tight. When I saw Scooby’s I was excited for the fries and they just weren’t what I’ve grown to know from that name. I had the chicken sandwich and it tasted like it was marinated in French dressing… Weird. I could see Italian or ranch but French? Made everything taste bad.

They do have good food items, but their prices AREVERYHIGH and have drastically gone up even over the past year(We have also visited their other locations in West Chicago and Bolingbrook, so we know this full well. Scooby’s has also had at least 3 other locations — including Algonquin and St. Charles, go out of business in the past few years, probably because of their high prices equaling not enough business to sustain the high rent for the locations). Hotdogs 2.99(up .70.) Large Fries — 4.59 — up $ 1.00(as for the amount of fries, you get about one large potato’s worth — literally). Most large sandwiches — up 1.00. Polish sandwiches went from 6.99 to 7.99, Beefs from 5.99 to 6.99. These sandwiches AREVERYGOOD, tho. Large drinks 3.95 —(up .50. In comparison, large drinks at McDonald’s are $ 1.00). ****** PLEASEALSOREADTHEFOLLOWINGCAREFULLY and BEWARE! Be weary of them trying to ‘upcharge’ you(or even upcharge the tax) on certain items, or, if you go in with certain coupons. It has happened to us on SEVERAL occasions(i.e. somehow a double-dog clearly advertised at 3.99 became $ 4.95 after tax — .96 cents tax?). LOOKATTHEPRICESONTHEMENU. At least 3 separate times, our total cost seemed ‘strange’ — as if purposely overcharged. When we questioned them on this, their attitude upon doing so became defensive and arrogant. 1. Know your prices/look carefully at the menu. 2. Use your common sense. 3. QUESTIONTHEM if your total seems off — tax is only 7 – 8 cents on the dollar! Would we return, yes probably — but STRICTLYON rare occasion. They do have great beefs and especially Polish sandwiches, they are just quite expensive.

My first visit inspired me to join Unilocal. What a disappointment this place is. I ordered the Italian beef and my husband ordered the pepper and egg. Both were generous size but that’s about the best I can say about the food. Beef was rubbery and the pepper and egg looked and tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill. Fresh cut fries were passable at best. Beef with sweet peppers 8.60, pepper egg $ 6.00. Plenty of other choices out there if your looking for fast food. We scratched this one off our list.

OK. No celery salt or sport peppers for the hog dogs. Fresh cut fries. Quick service. Out for seating.
