Decent BBQ, nothing really good or bad to say, I mean have I had better BBQ? Yes… But, this place was, again decent. I wouldn’t turn your nose up at it, the BBQ sauces were a bit on the Mustard side and sweet, not my taste… I like spicy BBQ sauces, by hey… that’s me. If you’re in the N. Augusta area, trying to find a place to eat I’d give it a try…

The food was terrible. I have had Carolina BBQ sauce before, but the meat didn’t taste fresh at all. I won’t be back.

I have visited the place many times. The BBQ and sides are quality. Very good and have never had any complaints with the food. I will have to say that I agree with the service. When the young teenagers are working, it is hard to get quality service. However, I do enjoy taking this food to go and will continue to eat there regardless of the service. If not for the service I would rate the establishment higher. But this part needs to be improved.

It’s mustard on meat. It’s so disgusting. And the employees were so rude and miserable. I mean, I would be too, so I can’t blame them. The mac and cheese was greasy. The meat was gross. The sauce was gross. Not recommended. I wish I could give it less than one star.

I disagree with all the previous reviews. The pulled pork is a-ok and the sauce is excellent. The sauce is mustard-based, which is typical in central SC, where Maurice’s flagship and pit are located. The brisket is hit or miss. It tastes kind of like a pot roast. Go for a pork sandwich and enjoy the sauce despite what the previous barbeque aficionados think.

I have grown up with Maurice’s and Bessingers and would never turn it down. Mustard base sauce is the best but I am from SC so I am a little biased. I love dipping fries, hush puppies, and pouring over my baked beans. The beef brisket sandwich is the best. I give it 4 stars just because of cost but its worth it and even worth the drive to visit the original in the capital city.

Friends ate there almost daily while on project in Augusta so we had to make the pilgrimage from Atlanta to see what all the fuss was about. The BBQ is AMAZING! Now… like others have said this is a mustard based sauce. But if you KNOW your BBQ. you already know that!!! We bought a gallon to bring home and use it on almost everything. Particularly good on boneless chicken breasts. Highly recommend the hash!

We had a great experience with both the food and the service. The man behind the counter took his time explaining to my(Yankee) friend about the barbecue. The pulled pork and ribs were perfectly and deliciously sauced– had the perfect amount of smoke. This is a SC mustard based sauce, and it’s awesome. I suggest the hash as well… so so good. The counter guy even came around to make sure everything was good and gave us free cracklings. I don’t make a habit of tipping counter service but he deserved every bit of the $ 5 I happily gave him.

My parents bought my wife and I two $ 25 gift certificates for christmas. When we tried to use them the rude cashier said she wasn’t authorized to accept them! Really?! The certificates were not expired and there are no blackout times or dates! Thats rediculous! If you are in North Augusta and want good BBQ, skip Maurice’s. Don’t deal with the incompetent and rude employees. I would suggest BBQ Barn in North Augusta, friendly staff and excelent food. You will have a much better experience.

Don’t bother. I can’t believe this is a Maurice’s. After waiting 20+ minutes I asked for a refund and they refused. Food finally came out but tasted like it was micowaved. Flies were all over the restaurant. We took two bites and left our full plates at the register on our way out the door. AVOIDATALLCOSTS!

Lousy food. Service was mediocre at best. Didn’t even have mac and cheese for the kids. BBQ sauce was strange bad. A mustard sauce perhaps? Dismal in any case. I would avoid this place.

Disappointment. I would barely call this place BBQ. Food took forever. The place closes super early. Most disappointing of all was the BBQ sauce. This appartently critically acclaimed BBQ sauce(it is has OMGUBERFAMOUSUSUS and phrases along that line written all over the bottle) is not good. I did not get the appeal. It will also set you back almost $ 10 for not a whole lot of food(I did the combo plate). Just no thx.
