Ack! Can I say is… we shouldn’t have stopped here on a whim… they were not prepared for customers. My husband and I normally make it a point to decide at random what to eat based off our various cravings at the time… well…this time we should have just kept driving past because the moment we drove into the«lock-in» drive-thru was the moment we realized we might have made the wrong decision. The ordering process was easy once we were able to order which seemed to take forever. Our order was simple… or so we thought… We ordered two of their hotdog meals with fries and a drink with two ice cream sandwiches(which we stated we wanted strawberry and mint chocolate chip). We get to the window to pay and it seemed like we were transported to the island of forgetfulness. A young man comes to the window and says… you wanted a chocolate and chocolate chip ice-cream sandwich… my husband laughed and I leaned over and explained it was STRAWBERRYANDMINTCHOCOLATECHIP. The your man said«ok, so that is chocolate and chocolate chip…» We paid for our meal and we’re waiting to receive our food when we were served verbal notice to vacate from the drive through and go park our car and wait… We asked why we would need to do this the order was very simple hotdogs, chili cheese and fries no culinary technique needed… the young man leave abruptly during his notification for us to vacate the drive through and relocate to a parked position. The manager a young girl comes to the window and says…“we forgot to take out hotdogs and they are all frozen… my manager does not tell me anything…” My husband explained how he was disappointed and re accepted out eviction. We parked and what seemed like 30 minutes passed. A hurried young woman, the manager was fast approaching our car with bags and drink in her hands. She apologized profusely and offered up the Salem excuse of not being prepared because someone else dropped the ball. She gave us a free meal voucher for the next time we came back, which to date and the very foreseeable future will be THEFIFTHOFNEVER! We pulled away and got home, settled and ready to eat. Popped open out meal to reveal… chili dogs with water chili and globs of cheese, fries that were supposed to be hot and golden brown… a crispy charred shade of brownish grey… and our sodas that we requested to be no ice… filled with ice and little soda. Needless to say the ice-cream sandwiches were amazingly amazing…

I love Bruster’s. Need I say more :) Ok since you asked. First of all, great ice cream. Here my favorites are mint choc chip or birthday cake. I do occasionally get a lil bit disappointed at first because they switch out their flavors and run out. But this is ice cream we are talkin’ about so it’s not hard to find something good. My favorite is taking the pups along with me. They treat dog owners superbly here. FREEICECREAM for dogs. Can’t beat that. I often have a BOGO free coupon from paper so our family of four gets treats for price of one(yes two of the four are dogs). I do not like some of the other chains where they mix a bunch of stuff and charge you more than $ 5 for a small. Much better deal here. Bruster’s also does a lot for community. They set up at many community events and donate ice cream. The servers/staff tend to be very young but very nice/polite. so be patient and tip well.

I had never been a fan of Bruster’s Ice Cream, until one day I was downtown and they had a portable ice cream cart selling ice cream. I was urged to try a sample by the staff. It was free so I said, «What is it gonna hurt?» I tried the Cotton Candy Explosion and was an instant fan. It was tasty and it even had Pop Rocks in it. Since then I have been to Bruster’s several times. I think my favorite now is Butter Pecan. The staff is always friendly and attentive. One time I was in the drive thru and the car ahead of me was taking a long time to make up their mind and the staff gave me another scoop of ice cream for waiting. I was thoroughly pleased. So I have become a Bruster’s customer for life.
