I enjoy going here from time to time. Food is good and staff is friendly. What more can you ask for.

Love the food here. I’ve been here a bunch of times and never had any complaints. The vegetable soup is amazing. Staff is friendly and not overbearing like some places. It can get packed on weekends but that’s obviously because it’s good! This place is a good alternative to Portuguese food without having to deal with the hectic ironbound.

I work across the street from Tejo Grill. A few of the girls from the office decided to order desserts from this place after lunch. I was elected to go pick up the desserts. I stood there for more than 10 minutes waiting for the waitress, who only had one table. It took considerable time and confusion for her separate and ring up the order. Upon returning to the office we realized that the strawberry cheesecake had spots of mold all over the bottom. One of the other girls called and asked that the money for the cake be returned and the cake replaced. The woman she spoke with was rude and refused to replace the cake. Only after an argument did she agree to send someone over with the money. The man who came over with the money didn’t even apologize. He dropped $ 4 on the counter and took the moldy cake with him. I then called back informing them that the cake was $ 5.95 and expressed our disappointment in this whole ordeal. I was given the excuse that the supplier brought the cake that way to which I responded that I’m sorry they have a crappy supplier but that’s no excuse to serve moldy food to a customer. After informing the woman I spoke with of my intent to post my experience on Unilocal I was hung up on. It was only after walking across the street and asking to speak to the person in charge that we received the full refund and even then I was given lame excused about their supplier. I will never go to this place again. Worst experience ever!!!

Food is pretty good but every time I have eaten there the service has been super slow and the dining room was not crowded. This is now a strictly takeout place for me.

The best part of this restaurant/bar is that it is a nice place. It’s one of the only local places with outside tables to eat or have drinks and that is very nice during the Summer time. I haven’t eaten there in a long time, the food isn’t at all terrible but I just don’t find it to be that great either, there are other places nearby that I prefer for Portuguese food. I’ve always found the service to be good when I go there and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. The crowd at the bar is usually middle-aged so if you’re looking to meet younger people this isn’t the place to go. Overall it’s a decent place but personally for the amount of money you’ll spend in there I think you can find better nearby.

Owner is rude and cheap. Food is overpriced. Bar waitresses are only interested in the men. Drinks watered down. If you’re not Portuguese or Spanish you’ll never get a smile. Owner doesn’t cut people off when they drink too much. Can you tell I hate this place???

Food here is pretty good. I have no complaints. The service is really good and they have a great bar and drink selection. If anyone is in the area I would definitely recommend it!

Food here is good. Sangria is better. Nice big bar and excellent staff. Nice to go on a summer day and sit outside with friends or at the bar when all the windows are open.

How many barmaids does it take to figure out a bar tab at Tejos? Three!!! You will see the confused bar maids huddled around the computer trying to figure it all out while you wait and wait and wait. How long does it take to get a drink at the bar at Tejos??? If you’re lucky, a half hour. And that’s a bar that’s not even full. Good luck people. Bar service is retarded!!! I give one star only cuz place is conveniently located for me!!! I’m pretty sure the bar maids all have a.d.d.

We’ve ordered the Picadinho here quite few times. Each time it has gotten worse. The latest time, we ordered on Saturday for pick up Sunday at 4. We get there at 4 and they said it would be right out. 30 minutes later, it comes out. This has happened to us a couple of times. When we get home, it looked as if it were a smaller portion. The rice was barely enough for 1 person and they didn’t give us bread as they had in the past. When we called to complain, a woman that got on the phone saying she was the manager, listened to our complaint and then said, «Let me get the manager.» A man gets on the phone and states that they are busy and short staffed. When asked if that meant we don’t get the food the way it should be, he sat silent. We told him that there are at least 50 places within 2 miles that we can go to, he apologized. Not good enough for us. We have deleted their phone number and will not be returning to Tejos.

It’s close to me, they have decent food, big portions, and most of the staff is friendly. Don’t expect anything about Tejo’s to WOW you. But it’s also not a bad place for a bite and a drink or two. ENJOY!!!

Although I enjoy going to Tejo the food is hit or miss. Some nights the food is excellent other nights it’s not good at all. Last three trips in my sides have all been cold. Even after complaining of cold food the waitress promises me new hot food and returns with the same food just barely warm. Then I was told the chef was on vacation. Waitresses make the place warm, all kind and friendly however based on my recent experiences I’ll be looking for a new restaurant to eat at dutrng the week.

First off the people who come to this place who sit are the bar are nothing but trouble makers. Nothing but your average meat head at the gym. Management is terrible this place is going downhill really fast. I have spent thousands at this place and realizing its been a big waste of money. Stay away go to another place with nicer people they are plenty of irish pubs with welcoming workers and chill out people this place isn’t the spot for a chill night. If your looking to get into a fist fight with someone then go to tejos nothing but people here looking for a fight.

My friends and I decided to go to Tejos on a Friday night for dinner. We went around 7pm and the restaurant itself was pretty empty. After we were seated, a waiter came to take our order. We each ordered one of the entrees(skirt steak and shrimp with stuffed crab meat). We asked the waiter what comes on the side of that and he explained it was rice, vegetables, and potatoes. We asked that for each of our meals, if we can substitute vegetables for the rice and he explained that since the side orders come as «family style», he can’t do that but he can just bring us more if needed. Once our entrée came out, we realized the family style portion of sides was in fact the same amount as what one person would get at a normal restaurant. We each had one piece of broccoli, and one potato and there was barely any left. When you order something like the skirt steak, you really need to have something to go along with it. We tried to find the waiter numerous times, but he always seemed to disappear. We ended up having to find another waiter in order to refill our drinks. The service here is definitely the worst part. Our server in particular wasn’t very accommodating. You can definitely find better Portuguese food and service around the area. The bar portion didn’t look bad and they did have an outdoor section, but it seemed a little small. I don’t think I would be coming here again to dine in or recommending it to people I know.

The service wa awful. Medium– more rare skirt steak was well done. The well done portuguese steak was medium-rare. The waiter was rude. At the end we paid the bill waiter took the bill and came back thmissinghe bill was short. we counted again found that a $ 100 bill was missing. We told the waiter that $ 100 bill was missing. We asked to speak to the manager but he never showed. We the added some more money to cover the bill. No tip since they already received a good one with the missing $ 100.

Tejos Portuguese Restaurant in North Arlington, NJ This was my first time at Tejos Portuguese Restaurant in North Arlington, NJ and it was just wonderful. We started with their house red sangria with fresh fruit in it and it was really good. We had a shrimp in garlic sauce appetizer that was succulent and delicious, especially when we dipped the Portuguese bread in the garlic sauce. We then had the stuffed flounder that was out of this world, and pistachio truffle for dessert. This was truly a very tasty dinner and I just loved the pistachio truffle!

I’m a huge fan of this restaurant, and I don’t say that too often. Firstly, the Sangria is amazing and will definitely give you a buzz. If they have it on the menu and you like lobster, get the lobster salad, huge and delicious! I’ve had a few chicken and fish dishes here and I’m never disappointed. They also give you a ton of food. The staff is always really friendly too! My only minor complaint would be the ambiance. I feel that the food screams upscale and the place says«bar». There is a bar when you walk in and a restaurant to the left which is usually fairly quiet. I think they should have made the place a bit more upscale to match the food.
