Fire Pit Barbeque

I called for pick up, and when I get there I have to wait an hour for my food. Why bather calling if I have to wait .and costumer service are poor

Feeling like bbq grilled chicken and ribs? This place hit the spot. The food is delicious and portion size is pretty generous. They side orders of yellow rice, black rice, veggies, salad and/​or fries. There’s kids meal too and the size for them is ridiculously large so if you have more than one child, you may want them to share the meal. They also serve burgers, hot dogs and wraps and salad.
Entrance to the restaurant is on the side walk of ridge road. There’s a few tables outside for sunny warmer day seating. As soon as you walk inside, you smell the grilled meat and feel in heat. They don’t turn on the air condition for folks who work there and for people who order to go but don’t fret! If you decide to dine in, let them know and they will seat you in their banquet room that is much brighter and yes, has air condition.
Their banquet room can seat about 40 people and people have thrown parties here. I ask the waiter, who btw is friendly, and he showed me pictures. They cater buffet style for the parties. It’s definitely a place I would think about if I’m going to host an intimate gathering for family and close friends.

I gotta be honest. They have really gone down in meat portions. Every time I order something it seems like less and less. The garlic chicken is $ 15.00 and its two thin medium sized chicken cutlets. 2 really? From the ribs to chicken, it feels like they are just stealing our money with those prices and skimpy portions. Would rather go to Newark and spend ½ their price and double the flavor!

This place is hit or miss. On a good day, they are excellent but when it’s bad, it’s really bad. The flavor of the food is really good and if it’s not overcooked, the chicken/​ribs/​meat are tender and succulent. This however, is an infrequent occurrence. More often times than not, I’ve found my chicken and ribs to be dry, overcooked, and chewy. Not to mention that table service is dismal. I prefer to order out but that doesn’t help with the quality of the food. Another thing that really irritates me is the fact that when you dine-​in, they supply you with what seems like an endless amount of their spicy sauce. Without hesitation, they bring you over an entire bottle of sauce at your request. This is not the case when you order out. According to the workers, I can only have one tiny plastic container per order/​tray of food. Come on, that is ridiculous! For starters, it should be at least three per order and secondly, if you’re gonna be stingy, then make a profit. Charge additional for extra sauce containers!!! I mean you get like 50 packs of ketch-​up but not the sauce… I digress, …it is good food but you can never tell when it’s going to be a good day to order it.

Have ordered from Fire Pit a few times and have always been extremely satisfied. My girlfriend and I usually order the skirt steak platter. The steak is always tender and super flavorful, and the portion size is very generous. $ 18 gets you a huge skirt steak, rice and fries — easily feeds 2 with some leftover. The chocolate mousse is very good as well. Will definitely be repeat customers.

Ordered the large order of pork ribs with yellow rice and french fries for $ 15.00 dollars. When opened it very few ribs not many french fries almost all yellow rice, definitely not worth $ 15.00. The few ribs that were there were chewy and had a lot of fat and bone. Will not be returning.

Delicious simple fire put food. Grilled nicely, great flavor, and delivery is quick. Order to to food and its on point.

MMM exactly what i wanted! delicious food, great prices, good size portions. my husband loves the chicken and i love the pulled pork.

Love my veggie house special wrap from firepit! Boyfriend gets the ribs and chicken. Delivery is usually pretty fast

Another new place I wanted to check out since passing by one day. I’ve ordered from a number of Portuguese BBQs and as far as quality of the food/​taste, I really enjoyed this place. I went with a chicken/​pork ribs combo with the fries and rice, plus a garlic shrimp appetizer. I wanted to order the shrimp cakes, but they said they were out.
The chicken and ribs were both cooked very well. Sometimes the pork ribs can end up a little dry, but these were great. Not overly seasoned/​salty and it allowed the pork taste to come through. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy.
The garlic shrimp were also well cooked and the sauce was great. I used it over the rice after finishing most of the meat and shrimp.
The fries and rice were also good. I’m not sure if the fries are fresh cut by then, but there was potato skin visible, so that was nice.
The downside was the meat portion was a little small. Not terrible (I was splitting with one other person), but the ribs themselves weren’t particularly meaty. While quite delicious, the shrimp appetizer was a little small for the $ 9 price. Chicken may have been a half chicken, but it may have been a drumstick and a split breast piece.

Overall, I’d like to go back. I think the food quality was quite good, I enjoyed my meal, and would like to try some other menu items.

Food is pretty good not as good as what you can get in the Ironbound in Newark but for the area it is OK. My issues are that delivery usually takes about an hour and even though they are supposed to close at 9, I have tried on multiple occasions to order food at 8:30 and was advised they were out of chicken.

A friend of mine had a party and had the ribs catered from this place. Let me say they were absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely come here for the ribs!

Really good BBQ. Reasonably priced, large portions, and great smokey taste.
My favorite is the Garlic Chicken. Short Ribs and Spare Ribs are also very good.
Nice friendly service also.

This place is dangerous because I can walk to it. I can justify eating as much as I want, knowing that I will walk it off… ok maybe not. We loved our food… the ribs were cooked to perfection. I was licking my fingers with no shame

The food is very good and this place is a welcome addition to the area. I stick with the chicken with rice and fries although the picadinho is very good, too. However, I’ve had some issues with customer service. Some of the employees have a poor attitude and just seem annoyed to see a customer enter the restaurant.
I’ve called multiple times at about 8:30PM and told that they have no chicken left. How is this possible?
One of the regular employees intentionally gave me $ 20 less when breaking a $ 100 bill. When questioned, he was not surprised and gave me the $ 20 almost instantly as if he was seeing if he could get away with it.

OK I finally was able to try out Fire Pits food and location on North Arlington. Place was clean including their restrooms and roomy enough for a crowd of 10 comfortably.
We had rice beans and chicken. Chicken was tasty and the skin had a nice kick to it. It wasn’t dry which was a plus and the staff was courteous and efficient.
Now the only problem I had. I purchased a steak sandwich and the steak was a bit chewy. That wasn’t the bad part either. The epic fail was when I bit into something hard and when I opened the sandwich I discovered bone.
Are you kidding me… I don’t mind bones in my steak but not in my sandwich. That threw me for the only loop. I won’t under any circumstances ever order a steak sandwich from them again. You couldn’t even give it to me for free. So Unilocalers please Unilocal cautiously if you intend to order their steak sandwiches.

My last words of wisdom for 2014. How bout an update?
My son and I stopped in the other day for lunch. We called an hour in advance to ensure that a rack of baby backs would be waiting for us. The ribs take 45 minutes to prepare. Upon arrival, we snacked on some delicious portugese sausage until the ribs were ready.
The ribs were outstanding. Very juicy. Great fries. We finished verything in short order and began thinking when we would visit next. Learning that Fire Pit has suckling pig on Saturday ensured that we will be back very, very soon.
As we were walking back to the car, we noticed that Fire Pit has opened a butcher store in the same strip mall. Great quality meats and portugese products. We took home several links of chorico. The gentleman staffing the counter was very proud of the sausage he prepares every day. Gave us a look into the smoking cabinet. Explained a bit about the process. Excellent customer service. And the sausage lives up to the hype. Just outstanding. Available regular and spicy.

My husband and myself were in North Arlington, and we were hungry seen a BBQ place thought we have a good lunch. Well that is NOT what we had…
1^st– The waitress was in tight yoga pants and a tight tang top shirt where yes she had the body for it, but not for the job she holds that is not appropriate attire. If I was the manger I would have sent her ass home.
2^nd-​We waited a while for our food, which I can see if they were busy but they WERE NOT we were the only couple in the restaurant. NO EXCUSE.
3^rd — My husband ordered the Angus Beef Burger he ordered it medium rare and his burger was cooked to well done and his fries looked and taste as though they were reheated. I ordered the pull pork sandwich that also came with fries my meal was ok.
4^th-​While I was eating my lunch the waitress and the other girl who was working the counter were standing in front of the fry warmer eating French fries right out of the warmer putting their fingers by their mouths and back in the warmer to get another fry. That is so DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY…
5^th– The waitress only came over at the end to ask if everything was ok, I told her no that my husband burger was cooked to well done she said sorry I thought you said well done, ok so she admits that she wrote down the order wrong. She asked us if she could do something for us we said the check. She still charged us for meal though. The right thing to have done was not to charge us for his meal, or to have discounted the bill…
We will NOT be returning… The owner really needs to get a manger in there that knows how to run this place…
