Jiong Jiong(囧囧) is a hole in the wall to be sure, but what they lack in western frills they more than make up for with their authentic Chinese fast food options, which are otherwise unavailable in Norman or OKC. You’d be hard pressed, for instance, to find their Roujiamo/«Chinese hamburger» anywhere else that’s not a huge city with a significant China town, and theirs is delicious. Another highlight are the wide variety of milk teas in various flavors and much more affordable than other Norman options. The place is run by Beijing natives and chock full of Chinese exchange students, which is a great sign, too. Don’t go there expecting westernized Chinese food — their specialty is something much more authentic — and special.

This place is near my office, so it’s a good lunch option. I always order the pork bun, which come as an order of two(crispy pork belly, sweet sauce, and cucumber and/or scallion on a steamed bun). These are enough for a small lunch or a snack if you split with someone else. I’ve also tried bibimbap and the Japanese pancake. I haven’t ordered either since and actually threw the pancake out. It always seems to be full of students, so maybe my palate is not adventurous enough. I’ll keep going back, but I’m sticking to the pork buns and milk teas.

Came at 2:20 on a Saturday. The place opens(according to the website and signs posted on the door) at 1:00. It was locked up tight. I’m not usually one to write bad reviews based on one bad experience, but not opening the doors over an hour after you are supposed to open shows me that there are some serious owner/management problems that will probably work their way into all other aspects of the business. I guess if you really want to try it, be sure to call first to see if they are actually there, but I won’t be trying them again.
