Man the green salsa is a must! Doesn’t burn your taste buds but it wakes them up some. Portions are well worth it, got the lunch guiso and it filled me up good. Wasn’t that hot, but I’m not a fan of the so hot can’t taste anything else food, but I’m sure they could of bumped it up if I wanted to. I give it 5 stars because to me it gave me all that I wanted and more, is it the best I’ve ever eaten? No, but I’ll tell you what it’s not the worst!

The chips and salsa were really good before our meal. I had the Acapulquito and it was delicious.

This is one of the best Mexican food places in Norman. The hot salsa is some of the hottest I’ve ever had. I’ve tried the Mexican chicken fajitas, they were good and very spicy. I’ve also had the veggie quesadilla and it was great. The staff is great and I love everything about this place. It’s my new favorite in Norman.

This is probably closer to a 3.5 star rating, but not quite 4. I had dinner at Cocina Don Miguel on a Thursday evening around 7:30. There were only a couple of tables seated. The dining area is small, but the tables aren’t smashed together. So, even if it were crowded, I don’t think you’d be on top of your neighbors. The dining room is on the darker side, and there are a couple of TVs were which turned to sports while I was there. I was immediately brought chips, a red sauce, and a salsa. Both were hotter than your typical gratis salsas, which I appreciated. The red sauce was too runny for me, so I mixed them both together and got a nice sauce, I would definitely eat this again. The chips were room temperature and a little thicker than typical Mexican restaurant chips, which I prefer. For my entrée, I went with the grande mixed grill fajitas with beef and chicken. This comes with a large plate of rice and beans, sour cream, guacamole, and other typical accompaniments. The rice and beans were typical for a Mexican restaurant, and like I said, the order was generous. The order of fajitas is a good size, I can see this being easily shareable. I didn’t finish it. Too many of the veggies stuck to the cast iron, so a lot of them(at least a third) were burnt. I still got a decent amount of onions and peppers, but too much was wasted. Likewise, the chicken and steak were too done for my tastes. I get that fajitas are served very hot, but these should have been taken off the heat sooner so the carryover cooking wasn’t so damaging. There was no pink whatsoever in the beef, and the chicken was at least 50% too dry. It’s too bad, because the seasoning was solid. Had the beef and chicken had some more juiciness, they could have really been something. I would give Don Miguel another try, hopefully I can find something that’s not cooked too long.

Stopped in here after hearing it was good… Ordered queso upon arrival, was told they were out. The salsa was not good at all either so I could imagine what the food would be like. Ordered the enchiladas and it came out fast, no sauce on top and dry… Looked as if they rolled up some beef-chicken and cheese in an a tortilla.3 bites in and I was thinking I’d rather have Taco Bell and I don’t eat there. The only positive was the servers were really nice, I will not be back and do not recommend.

This place is phenomenal! My husband and I traveled to Norman from Dallas for a basketball tournament. We always look for small, family owned places and were happy when a friend recommended Cocina Don Miguel’s. From the second you walk in the door, the staff are friendly and welcoming. We have such a great time there. The food is AUTHENTIC Mexican; so if you are partial to Tex-Mex this is not the place for you. The food is AMAZING. The ingredients are fresh and expertly prepared. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I are wanted to find good, authentic Mexican food in Norman. This family owned restaurant had nice décor and family friendly. We had chips and salsa with an order of queso con chorizo. It was good. I also recommend the house spicy salsa. There was so much food my husband and I had some for dinner too. I will go back!

I like. It reminds me of my parents home cooking. It all tasted fresh. Not gourmet or extravagantly weird or different. Just good, reliable home cooking.

The review by Gary gives this place a bad name. This is actually one of the better Mexican Food places in Norman. I would give 4 stars if they would have had margaritas. As of now only serving beer. This is a new place. So if you are in the mood for Mexican Food, may I suggest Cocina Don Miguel. Urban Spoon has more reviews on this place.

Everything tastes like it came from a can. Both of us have stomach issues after eating ¼ of the meal here. It’s authentic as in you went to Mexico and drank the water.
