Recently, I decided to get a relaxer at the beauty academy. Yes, I realize the students are there to learn and the clients are the«guinea pigs» so to speak, but the student who did my hair did not belong on the floor. She was a sweet girl who was apologetic when she messed up. But she messed up A LOT. First, she applied the relaxer on my hair without fully applying the base. A fellow student had to point it out to her. Her response: «Ohhh.» Soon after, my scalp started burning like HADES, so she and an instructor rushed me over to the wash bowl to get it out. And the high water pressure felt like sharp tacks were hitting my scalp. Student: «Oh, sorry». The sides of my scalp were tender and raw by the time we got back to the chair. I pointed that out to the student. But that didn’t stop her from brushing out my wet hair roughly, so rough that I flinched in pain. Student: «Oh, Sorry». Finally, she flat ironed my hair and singed me TWICE. Student: «Sorry, sorry». Incidentally, she was the last student to finish, which was an hour past closing time. The next day, the sides of my scalp were all scabby. Not fun ATALL. I’m sure there are wonderful students doing an excellent job at Wards Corner Beauty Academy, and I just happened to pull the short straw that day. Nevertheless, I’m not interested in pressing my luck(and scalp) with them again.

If I could give negative stars for this place I certainly would! It was terrible, even for a school. I was expecting students, but not this terrible! I sat for 2.5 hours for a straight hair trim. I asked for 1 to 1.5 inches trimmed. He cut more than 4 inches and did it terribly. When I was shocked to see it in the mirror, he replied, «it looks fine.» The«teacher» walked by twice, didn’t say anything or ask me how it was going, just walked by… So I understand that it’s students and they need people to practice on. So i went back a few days later to try out the«Nail salon» It was WAYWORSE than the hair«Salon». The girl didn’t know what to do, she had a list, a list that had incorrect procedural instructions. It listed to paint the nails over the cuticle relaxer, a big no-no for anyone! She did such a terrible job with my toes that I left before she could get a chance to ruin my nails. I even sat there for 20 mins when she just walked away to take care of a new client, and filed my own nails and fixed the painted toes. Then when her instructor came in to confront me about leaving before getting my nails done, she was mad that I wasn’t happy… reminding me they were JUST students… come on! Anyone, except these students, can paint nails and trim hair… I would highly recommend you go elsewhere, ANYWHERE else!!!
