Consistent superb service snd food. I like to sit in the bar area because Rob lifts my spirits. I love all of the staff and it’s a bonus to see Todd. I love the new tuna app. Please leave it on the menu!

I read about this place in AAA Magazine the week before I was planning a trip to Norfolk, so I made sure to add it to my list of restaurants. There was absolutely nothing that disappointed me… my only wish is to have had my friends there to enjoy the amazingness with me.(And maybe to order more food for me to try!) Very impressive staple to historical Norfolk dining. For drinks, I had the bellinitini, which was crisp, light, and refreshing peachiness. For food, I started with the crab-pumpkin soup, which had a warm, fall weather cinnamon flavor and the perfect combination of creamy pumpkin and chunky croutons and crab. I was literally scraping the bottom of the bowl. For an entrée, I had the truffled egg fettucine from the specials list. This was no normal«truffled» plate like at most restaurants; you could really taste the earthy, saltiness of the substantial truffles in the dish. For dessert, I had a *real* problem deciding… and I don’t even normally like or order desserts! I ended up with the dark chocolate pot de crème, which was thick and creamy, well worth the extra full-ness I walked out of the restaurant with. Can’t wait to go back on my next business trip and order different appetizers and desserts!

Elegant and upscale ambiance. Make you feel like you’re in New York or Chicago… lol. The drinks are very smooth! … a little too smooth ;) The food is good. The prices are high. $ 11 margaritas makes the bill hike up its skirt LOL

Wish I could’ve gotten something other than a simple salad to judge them on. I’ll only come back if someone is paying for my meal. Was not satisfied at all. Not worth my money.

I never get a bad meal here. Everything is fresh and the food is so delicious. The fried oysters are the best I’ve ever had. They are located across the street from the Nauticus in Norfolk. When you’re done eating, you can walk off your calories shopping at the mall that is right down the street. The service is always impeccable and I can’t wait to go back.

Todd Jurichs never disappoints. The service and food are outstanding, which is why I brought some friends with us tonight. They loved it, too! We will be back soon!

Want to start by saying my server was excellent. Attentive, knowledgable, and professional without being too invasive during our meal. The food was very good. We went for restaurant week and doubled up on the appetizer as my date and I did not order dessert. I had the Carolina fried shrimp and tuna. She had the she soup and the caprese salad. I’ve never had caprese and tasted hers and it was extremely flavorful. Main course she had the pork loin and Mac n cheese and I had the salmon. All items were above average taste wise. Two negatives. Her pork loin and Mac came out cold but they immediately replaced(or reheated) and it wasn’t an issue. Also, with it being restaurant week our meals plus a glass of wine each came out to about 100 dollars which was okay. Although very good I don’t think this is a 150 – 200 dollar meal as it probably would have been. Overall loved that atmosphere. Was pretty laid back when I was there. You do get a funny mix of couples dressed up(as we were), to people wearing short dockers and Hawaiian shirts.

Had two locals strongly recommend TJ’s Bistro for our party of 9 last Friday night. Very disappointed that they didn’t have any Rose wine. Told sometimes they have an open bottle behind bar, but not that night. It’s summertime and Rose is quite popular. Calamari was overcooked and much too fried tasting. Beet salad had ONE beet and I didn’t see or taste any feta and barely any of the fig dressing. Three people ordered a $ 30 pasta which all agreed was overpowered by onions and one lady had to order another entrée because she could not tolerate that many onions. The waiter never asked why or if he could«comp» half of the uneaten pasta. She didn’t ask, but thought someone might offer! On a positive note, the soft shell crabs were reported good and the waiter kindly split our check 9 ways which was much appreciated.

I first ate at Todd Jurich’s Bistro at their original York Street location, where they opened in 1992. During their tenure at this location, it was regarded by many as THE place to go in Norfolk for fine dining. Years later, in 2003 to be exact, they moved to their current West Main Street location, directly across from Nauticus. I first ate at their new location about ten years ago. During that visit, I enjoyed a spicy pumpkin soup that was out of this world. Fast forward to January of last year. I ate there with a large group in their private dining room. I wasn’t taking notes that evening and have forgotten a few details. What I do remember is that I orderied a dish listed as HARRISONFORD’S ROCKFISH from their list of specials. This dish was inspired by the actor’s unexpected visit to Norfolk when the helicopter he was flying was reportedly forced to land due to bad weather. He ate there that evening upon a personal recommendation, ordered their rockfish special, and raved about it. As a result, it was named after him. Overall, I found it to be pleasant and flavorful, but with its portion size a bit on the small side. My next visit occurred one evening last summer, and I did take a few notes this time, which I neglected to translate to a review until now. I ordered the following: MAUIREDSEASALTWITHOSHINKO, UNAGIGLAZE, SUSHIRICE. This was my appetizer, and it was delicious. The supporting players of the sea salt, oshinko, unagi glaze, and sushi rice worked together in synchonicity with the maui to both complement and enhance its flavor. CEDARPLANKEDWILDCAUGHTSALMONWITHROASTEDSUMMERVEGETABLESANDLEMONCONFIT. I love wild salmon and couldn’t resist this dish as my main course. I ordered it medium rare, but it was cooked just a tad too much on the medium side for my tastes. Yet, it was still enjoyable . Finally, I ate there again last night and started off with the following appetizer: BISTROSPRINGROLLSWITHPORKANDPRAWNS, SPICYMUSTARD, ANDSWEETPLUM. The spring rolls delivered a nice texture and flavor overall. I think I might have enjoyed them more with a stronger presence of the prawns. The mustard was not as spicy as I like it, as I would have preferred a little more heat. But that’s just me. For my entrée, I first requested one of their specials, the Blackened Bluefish, which came with a crawfish étouffée. My very conscientious and honest server, who was also my bartender, suggested that I might find it a bit too much on the«fishy» side. So, I decided upon the following from their spring menu: CEDARPLANKEDSCOTTISHSALMON, ROASTEDSPRINGVEGETABLES, ANDSTINGINGNETTLEBUTTER. I ordered my salmon medium rare once again, and this time it was on point, cooked just the way I like it. It was tender and juicy with a tantalizing pink and translucent color and texture. The medley of vegetables delivered a nice array of flavors, held together nicely by the stinging nettle butter. This dish was a solid A. I ate at the bar and enjoyed two very satisfying and potent gin martinis, which I ordered stirred and not shaken, and garnished with a twist of lemon. My bartender prepared them very well and with expertise. One of my most recent and pleasant discoveries in life is that a stirred martini results in less dilution with a more elegant crystal clear appearance. Based upon my observations, their bar program is very popular. To further enhance their bar program a bit for my personal tastes, I would like to offer a couple of suggestions: First, I suggest stocking their bar with Agnostura Orange Bitters, or some other brand of orange bitters, or even one that is house made. The Agnostura brand happens to be my favorite. Just two drops can elevate a gin martini to the sublime. The standard aromatic cocktail bitters do not have the same effect upon a gin martini Next, I suggest stocking either Lillet Blanc, a French apertif wine, or Cocchi Americano, an Italian apertif wine. I prefer either one of these apertifs to vermouth when crafting one of my other favorite martinis, namely the Vesper. In closing, I want to say that I enjoyed my meal and excellent service at the bar last night, and I will be looking forward to another future visit.

Meh. Atmosphere was a weird mix of old white men in blazers sitting at white table cloths and groups at the bar drunkenly shouting at each other(friendly shouting) for most of my meal. Am I at a divey bar, the early bird special, or an upscale restaurant? The food was fine but the menu and specials left me uninspired. The only theme seemed to be unoffensive American. Salmon? Check. Steak? A few ways. Crabcake? Duh. Peking duck? Really? Try to BE something, Todd, not just get those old white men to pay their oversized bills after a Caesar salad and meatloaf. Service at the bar area was good, but I won’t be coming back.

Met the hubby downtown for lunch today, and thought we’d try out TJB for their Restaurant Week specials. Their location is prime, literally right across the street from the Nauticus(but we’ve never noticed it before). Anyway, we walk in to an empty restaurant at 11:30 am which is when they open for lunch. The hostess gives me a blank stare, so I figured I better start the conversation and let her know why we were there. «Table for 2 please» I tell her, and she grabs menus, takes us to our table, and leaves. I don’t think she spoke one word to us, and certainly didn’t crack a smile. Okay, whatever. I let that go and was waiting to be WOWed by the food. We both went with the tomato and fennel soup. It had a nice flavor, was a little chunky for my liking, but was still good. I had the chicken n dumplings which was served lukewarm, and I was unimpressed. It was basically chicken soup(with only 2 pieces of chicken), and about 4 dumplings in lieu of noodles, topped with a spoonful of mashed potatoes. Hubby had an open faced bbq sandwich topped with coleslaw and a side of mac n cheese. He said his was just«warm» and not hot either, but was very tasty. I’d like to give this place a second chance if I could bypass the hostess and her grumpiness, and hope that my food would be served hot, instead of just warm.

This was my first visit. The restaurant was sparkly clean as was the bathroom. I started out with the pumpkin/crab soup for my appetizer. It was AMAZING! Get it!!! I then had the salmon. It was out of this world! The meal ended with THEMOST delicious chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce. I will definitely return. :)

It was the first time they had served Thanksgiving, so I suppose I should give them a bit of a break. However, I did my first Thanksgiving last year and it came out MUCH better than this. It was overpriced and underwhelming. The green bean casserole was completely inedible and the service was not great. Though they advertised valet parking, I guess the valet decided to get there about 20 minutes after they started seating people. The only highlight IMHO was the pumpkin crab soup. It was delicious!

The BEST«Happy Hour,» in DT Norfolk. It’s only done on Mondays & Fridays, featuring ½ priced bar menu items, which are PHENOMINAL! I’m a regular there, walking away with a tab, less that $ 10.00 every time I’m there. Best deal EVER — Order from the regular menu, eat at the bar, meal is ½ priced. It’s like paying for«coach» and getting«first class» service. There is NO better bartender than«Rob!»

A good experience! I went there for my birthday dinner at the end of restaurant week. The 1st time was much better last year. They have many choices but with extra money. Even breads, they charge extra $ 5. The sushi rice was hard and not good quality. They use a wrong kind of rice for sushi, I reckon. Japanese people think that they are not cooked enough or defrost. The small stars on the table don’t look nice. In a picture, it looks something mess. I prefer a special birthday dessert or decorations the other fine restaurants do like Ruth Chris, Byrd and Baldwin, etc… Besides that all good. Delicious sauces, sweet staffs, fresh seafood and lamb, great wine collection, etc… Always interesting in a good way. I got a motivation to cook uniquely more.

I’ve never stuck around long enough for dinner here yet, but happy hour is always superb. The bartender is super nice & makes great drinks for decent prices. I love sitting out on the patio with friends after work. I’m sure their food is awesome, so I’ll have to make a point to come in a little later for dinner soon!

Mon & Fri half off of bar food!!! 4 – 7! Yummy! The last time I visited was a couple of years ago. I kept hearing about the Happy Hour so, had to check it out. My friend and I arrived around 4:30PM and had to wait a couple of minutes to get a seat. A man at the bar gave us his chair and made room to scoot another chair in. So, definitely arrive early. There were complimentary snacks and a plethora of appetizers to order off of the bar menu. They ranged from $ 2.50-$ 4.50! My favs were the Fried Goat Cheese, Shrimp, BBQ Pork Belly, and Burger Sliders! Sooooo delicious. Drinks were exceptional and bartenders professional! Diverse crowd with a positive energy. Def going back!
