so the food was amazing! i really like the different themes they have as well which keeps the restaurant fun; however, i thought the prices were a little much for the portion you get. we came here during brunch and the mimosas were yummy and the food, well… it was okay. i wouldn’t say it’s a MUSTHAVE but it certainly wasn’t bad at all.

Unlike other people that complain about bad portion size. Streats gives correct portion size for the money. I am also pleased with my service. Jamie always cooks a perfect meal. I never leave hungry.

If you’re into overpriced snack-to-lunch sized portions that cost you dinner prices, Streats is your place. I paid $ 14 for 1.5 cups of rice with four shrimp and a dab of coconut curry sauce. If that wasn’t enough to make me want to leave and never come back, the poorly planned lighting situation was. When we were seated directly below the ceiling fan, my senses were bombarded by flashes of light created as the fan blades turned and the ceiling light shown through the blades. It was nearly seizure-inducing. Our waitress was kind enough to turn the ceiling fan off and offered the condolence that it bothered her too, but only after she had passed our table several times without taking our order. It was clear they needed more help that evening. The only thing that didn’t disappoint about this restaurant were the flavors in the food, but the other problems we experienced completely overshadowed what was on our plates. Edited: Upped to 2 stars as Neil reached out to provide a gift certificate and try to help make our experience better which was a good gesture. We aren’t interested in returning as our initial issues will still be present(exceptionally small portions for the price and fan/lighting strobe effect). This place wasn’t for us, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t for you, the food tasted great!

My boyfriend and I came here craving a mix of different types of food and brews. He had Streats bookmarked and we were looking forward to try something we never had before. It’s a small place, but definitely a spot I would go to again. It’s within the 3 mile radius of ODU, I might come here during my break to grab a quick drink. Their beer selection is pretty good, great for those who are into local &craft beer. They have some in cans, bottles, and on tap. I ordered the Dogfish 60 Minute IPA and my boyfriend had the Smartmouth Safety Dance. Since they had cuisines from different cultures we tried a little bit of everything. I ordered this Mac & Cheese they had on special, it was really rich but wasn’t my favorite. The Soft Shell Crab Tacos $ 14(on special) despite the steep price for only two pieces it was pretty good. My boyfriend got the Duck Tacos and he enjoyed very much. I had to order the Streat Fries $ 5 off the menu bc I was just in the mood for some potatoes. They come with sour cream and sweet chili sauce(that you would put on lumpia). We came on a Friday night before the rush so it started getting busy when we started eating. We left before the chaos. Overall I think this a nice little spot with a variety to food and drinks for everyone. The portions are almost like tapas.

Liked it, interesting menu with lots of vegetarian options. Cocktails seem hit or miss. I had the Josemelon, and it tasted like watered-down soda — could not detect a drop of tequila. A friend had a martini and it was super strong. Prices were a bit high for the portion size. I mean, roasted corn on the cob for $ 5!!! But I love the tempeh subbing options, and it’s cute with the industrial theme that is so trendy right now.

So I’ve dined here twice now. The first time I wasn’t impressed, and the second time around didn’t really help their case. Its right across the street from The Fresh Market, so what I usually do is park there and just walk across the street to Srteats. So that’s a nice plus! I love a place I don’t have to parallel park for. ha. Service is always GREAT here. I will give them that. I don’t remember our servers name but he was a hoot and really attentive. Unfortunately, that doesn’t help their food. This time we went we got the Hawaiian Eggrolls as an app. It had teriyaki spam inside which was what grabbed my attention in the first place. It came with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. The fried wonton wrapping really overtook the flavors that were inside the eggroll and in all honesty. there wasn’t much going on inside. I mean, on the menu it looks as though there would be, but to the palate, not much was happening. My date and I were both sort of «Meh» about it. He got Pad Thai. The consistency of it was off almost like it was too thick, SLIGHTLY on the pasty side, and it had a different flavor than regular Pad Thai. It just didn’t have the same Zing I get when I usually eat Pad Thai. Maybe a lack in Peanut? Not sure, it was just, different. I got the Burrito because I think it was burrito day or something? Not sure. Anyway it was HUGE! So, points for that. But other than that it was just a less impressive regular burrito. Nothing fun about it. Overall this place is very«Meh» for me.

My friend and I went there to start our taco binge, and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered«The Rita», and was disappointed by it, my only negative. It was a little too sweet, and wasn’t as tart as other margaritas I’ve had. However, the food was delicious. I ordered the Asian Barbeque Tempeh Tacos, and was surprised to learn that Tempeh is a type of tofu. The flavor was that of a Korean persuasion, and the overall taste was really good. It was tangy, sweet, and spicy. It had a nice, crisp slaw that gave the dish a nice crunch. Overall, I would definitely recommend Streats for a quick bite with friends or for a date.

Went there to get some tacos. Got a «The Rita» and it was alright not great. Not tart enough for my liking. Got two orders of tacos. One was the Asian pork which was a tad but sweet but a good amount of meat. The other was the special Asian BBQ Tempeh tacos. Wasn’t sure what Tempeh was but it was pretty good. Overall the food was alright but four tacos for 20+ bucks it could have been better.

Streats rocks. The menu is eclectic and delicious, with lots of veg-friendly options. The beer selection is great and the service is fast and friendly. It’s a cute little spot with great atmosphere, good for dinner/a date or just hanging out at the bar. I’ve never had anything but awesome experiences there. Oh, and the bathrooms are nice and clean! :)

‘I’m not trying to get rich but i wouldn’t mind if i was i’m just looking for some purpose a calling something worth following I’m looking to believe in something worth while’ In my rambling and wanderings around a good share of the free world, I’ve had occasion to stumble into places that feel like home. A place to believe in. Not home in the sense of geography, but home in the sense of connection. A sense of belonging. A sense of ‘here is somewhere I can be James R.‘ In the Hipsterville that is Ghent, Streats is that place. For the 140 character generation, let’s get to the meat of things. The food: Outrageously off the chain. Imagine that a food truck crashed into a garage and you are 90% of the way to figuring out the menu at Streats. Literally, you cannot go wrong, point and shoot and you will be satisfied. If not, send me the bill and I’ll pay your tab(James R. 1608 UnilocalFoodieSnobs Way, Hipsterville, VA). The booze: Local beers? Yep, Norfolk/Virginia Beach lives here. If you are new to our beer culture, ask whoever is behind the bar for a recommendation, you won’t be sorry. If you are feeling a bit more upscale, do the cocktail thing, the mixologists here will perform alchemy that will rend the appropriate amount of brain cells into a serene state of bliss. Feeling way adventurous? Ask for something that involves Skittles and Taste the Rainbow, baby! The service: This is the reason that Unilocal should have a 6 star scale. OFFTHECHAIN friendly people are here to take care of you. Not in that pandering, hand-wringing sort of way but more in the way that you are at a friend’s house and that friend asks what they can get you. Throw in a liberal amount of personality and life and you get the picture. If you are new to our area, do yourself a favor and slide up to the bar to soak up some of the local flavor. When you leave, you’ll feel like you just made several new best friends… and you won’t be too far from truth. The owner of Streats is experienced in the service industry and has a clear vision of what he wants Streats to be. He hits it 1000% on all cylinders with no misfires. Wander in 7 nights and you will have an equally fantastic but unique experience each and every night. I’m lucky enough to have this little paradise within striking distance of mi casa. In an effort to try to evaluate this on a greater stage, I try to compare it to other great cities I’ve visited to see how it stacks up. In all honesty, Streats would still hit the top of my charts no matter what its location. Yes, it is really that good. Food + Booze + Service + People = 7.5 stars. Unilocal makes me round down to 5. Hits the Must Do List.

Back to being awesome! I’ve had two visits since the owner reached out to me about my concerns. Both times I had excellent service and the food was phenomenal. And no chili-seared green beans in sight! The specials board had lots of interesting items with a variety of ingredients as well. A big improvement from the«slump» I had experienced on previous visits. The menu is back to having more variety and more vegetarian/vegan options. There was also at least one vegan special each night I visited. I’m so thrilled that I feel confident that I can add this back into my list of favorites. I love that it’s easy to eat healthy here without being stuck with the usual dull health-food options. If I’m feeling less indulgent, my food doesn’t look or taste«diet-y» compared to the less healthy options.

After crafts at Mermaid factory, My family and I went to Streats for a lil late night snack. The place had a very industrial look with the brick showing when u walk in you have a decent sized bar and then the dining area. We were welcomed by the owner of the restaurant and waited on our table, he was very kind and generous. I love the passion the local owner has for his restaurant and how he was very attentive during our visit. My sister and I had ordered the Ploughman’s platter which was alot for the both of us, which consisted of different types of artisan meats, cheeses, fruit, and bread. It was different, but I really enjoyed it. I would recommend anyone who like to try new places and food options and try this place out!

Ah, what a nice experience. I decided to meander into Streats after, well, Unilocal told me to. This place had a lot of good things going for it: sitting in my «bookmarks» tab for months, cool pictures, interesting dishes. So, I took it upon myself to finally see what all of the buzz was about. And I have to say: it was scathingly, seriously close to five stars. Problem: it just didn’t have that«umph» for me. I like millennial food, I really do. I don’t like it all of the time; honestly, only in small doses. But when I eat it, I enjoy the $#!+ out of it –especially if it has to do with charcuterie. I saw a picture that someone had posted of Streats with these crazy looking cracked hard-boiled egg things(I think they were tagged as tea eggs?), which was enough to peak my interests and make walk in for a meal. I went to Streats and was pleasantly surprised –it’s a pretty hipster place, but didn’t make me feel anywhere near as uncomfortable as my first trip to Field Guide. It, honestly, has more of an «art gallery”-like feel(reminiscent of the nearby NEON district). Service-wise, I thought that Streats was alright –but definitely nothing to write home to mom about. My glass of water was more empty than full throughout my time here, something that I could have empathized with if I hadn’t have been the only person in the entire establishment. For the food, I have the Ploughman’s Platter. Which was essentially charcuterie; along with the beef & broccoli. I was a huge fan of the platter and the beef & broccoli, I actually think that they had the BEST beef & broccoli I’ve ever had. It wasn’t overcooked, stale, or had any sort of strange aftertaste like previous B&Bs that’s I’ve had from fast-food Chinese. It was refreshing and had clean, distinct flavors to it. I will definitely be back to Streats soon –I just have one problem, while the food was excellent, it was honestly a pretty forgettable dining experience. I say the phrase«will definitely be back», but hopeful I’ll actually remember to visit again. One thumb up, Streats.

Food was good, made to order. Small, trendy spot. Nice choice of beers. Menu selection is random and doesn’t have much of a selection. Happy that I went, not in a rush to return, but it isnt crossed off my list.

I think its a great concept that each dish is a different type of cuisine. Your friend wants chinese and you want greek… no problem, you can both eat here. Staff was really friendly, they have a large drink menu and the food was yummy. Overall a great place

Know that Shania Twain song that talks about how after all the years, «we’re still in love and you’re still the one?» That’s this place. I dropped by yesterday to say hello to a friend and have a few drinks, and the servers are still attentive, then price is still fair and the food is still good. I had the Irish pork and vegetable beer soup. The best thing I ever tasted. They also have a good selection of fancy drinks, which makes it a lot more appealing than guzzling down PBRs at other places. The place is small, so if you’re with a group, make reservations. Other than that, just enjoy it. Best server — Courtney. I am biased, though, because she is a friend. There are also other servers who are just as wonderful. Chris, though, is a wonderful bartender. Make sure to stop by on the weekends when he works. Extra perks of this place: ample on-street parking. Go there now!

It was a fun night last evening. Three new places in Ghent that I have wanted to check out for a while. So it was a perfect opportunity with some Unilocal friends to hit up Streats after our UYE concluded. If you happen to accidentally drive by this business at night you wouldn’t be the first. It is a tiny store front and signage is good, not great. Streats is directly across from the Fresh Market which will help greatly in finding them. Parking is off the street, or the huge grocery across the street seems obvious. However I am unsure of restrictions. The front is attractive with a red half sized garage door. Prior to stepping in I was pleased to see the sidewalk clear in front of the business. I had no idea what to expect as I had yet to read a review, or view a pic. I was pleasantly surprised to see a quaint, dimly lit eatery. I felt immediately felt a warm vibe and was excited to be checking such an attractive spot out with friends. The small bar catches your attention first and seats 10 and is partially open to the kitchen. With it being just after 8:30PM I was surprised that there were so few customers. Our group sat at the bar and met James R. friend Larry who is a musician in a local band. It didn’t take long to survey the entire dining room. Concrete floors run through out. A low divider separates the bar and dining room. Ten two seat tables are in the dining room. Over sized paintings adorn the wall. Two of the tables were occupied by couples that were enjoying what appeared to be a romantic night out. Yep, it’s that type of place. They have a full bar that can handle most needs, bottles of beer and six taps. After just coming back from O’Connor Brewery I choose a OB Irish Stout that was delish. Larry remained friendly and gave us his full attention. Our party also met the owner who appears to be high profile and very involved in the restaurants operation. The menu is not large, but had some unique offerings. I asked for a main entrée recommendation from Larry. He quickly said a newer addition to their line up, a Lamb Burger with side of fries would satisfy me. Our Unilocal group enjoyed some conversation and it took little time for my dish to be cranked out. The burger came out hot open faced with chucks of blue cheese. The fries were crinkle type and also toasty. The burger was juicy and quite yum! The fries were crispy and for some may need additional seasoning, but perfect for me. A trip to the restroom was one of the more interesting aspects of the night. I say this in gist because I usually include a review of the facilities in most reviews. Streats earns the award for not only the cleanest, but the freshest I possibly have ever used. Spacious with darn green walls and the sweet smell of winter green was a nice touch. Plenty of soap and towels too! I would like to come back and explore the menu. Bringing a significant other for a romantic night out would be a nice return trip for me.
