The food was fairly good! I had the turkey with Brie and cranberry sandwich. I would order it again. The service was almost non existent! No greeting upon entering and no idea if you seat yourself or order at counter. I consider this poor form at any business. It wasn’t even very busy! I also never received a refill on my drink nor even asked… As she never came back!!!

This place is 10 stars! This is the 3rd time we have been here. The food is always outstanding! This was the first time for breakfast. My wife had the Garden Benedict with these great potatoes. She said it was the best eggs benedict she has had. Even better than this great French place we go to in NYC. I had the Belgian waffle and I am a huge Pecan fan and I didn’t see pecans on the menu but Kim(the owner) said she had them and they were caramelized. Simply awesome! We even bought a great piece of art. Peach apricot mimosas were great and they had several options. Great atmosphere and great service and fair prices! A must do place!

North Colley has its share of great restaurants, and this is one of those. We ordered the Starving B and Diego Rivera burritos, chocolate chip pancakes for our son, and a muffin. The Starving B was one of the best breakfast burritos I’ve had in a long time.

This place gets better and better every day. I go in often an watching it evolve has been fun. Everyone is nice and really wants you to have a great experience. I really like the shrimp salad croissant and the potato salad. With the addition of beer and liquor it’s a great place to grab a breakfast cocktail on a weekend.

I am SO grateful to have such an inviting delicious brunch spot within walking distance to colonial place! The staff is always friendly and food is always flavored to perfection. Thanks to the starving artist for making this end of Colley even better!

I’m so glad I came here today for Brunch! On Sunday’s I’m always looking for a good brunch and a friend suggested this place. I arrived a little after 12pm and there was a decent amount of people inside, not crowded but not empty. Just perfect for me. When I walked in I was greeted and was told I can sit anywhere I like and when I did the nice server Bridgett came with the menu and and took my drink order. The menu was double sided and easy to read. I decided to get the«Womlette» which is an omelet made inside of an waffle iron which I thought was very dope! The order also comes with hash browns and toast. I was able to choose 3 things to go in my omelet and I chose bacon, spinach and feta cheese. I never had feta cheese before but I like living on the edge. As I waited for my food I glanced around and the walls are filled with paintings and price tags which I assume are for sale. The furnishing has a somewhat vintage look to it and the vibe is real chill. Very homelike. The food arrived very quickly and the presentation was beautiful. I know It’s just an omelet but the eggs looked soo fluffy and soft and they were waffle shapped. Even the hash browns were fluffy, there’s some magic going on in that kitchen. The Womelet was banging! The whole everything was good. The best part is the price. The most expsenive item on the menu was $ 10. I’ll be back to this place again fo sure!

Meh, not impressed. The idea of this cool little quaint spot with art all around for purchase or viewing pleasure is nice but when it comes down to wanting something satisfying to eat after a long stressful night at work… well that’s another thing entirely. I’ve just wasted $ 30 bucks on a meal that I could’ve made for myself at home, and actually been able to savor and enjoy it. The place is nice to look at, the service lacking, the food mediocre with even more lacking servigs, my overall experience 3 stars. My kid and I were not greeted and sat for a good 10 minutes before being acknowledge. The owners, assuming that’s who they are, did not make eyr contact or exhibit any welcoming warmth. 3 stars because I liked the music and the art. Well got this one crossed off my list, too bad because I’m a pretty loyal business patron

Quaint spot, terrible food, marginal service. Visited for lunch and though the menu read wonderful, the sandwiches were terrible. The potato salad was excellent. The service was slow and awkward – is this a self service canteen or a full service café? But overall, the food was so lacking that I left«starving» so at least the name is accurate.

This place is amazing! I had the«starving b» burrito. It was so delicious I couldn’t eat it fast enough. Also had an iced hazelnut latte with almond milk, yes that’s right almond milk, I have yet to find any coffee places around here that has that as an option. Very friendly and great atmosphere. Parking does kinda suck though.

Dog friendly patio so I love you already. The service was great, friendly and attentive. The location is convenient, just down Colley close to ODU. The restaurant was very cute, loving the attention to local artists if not all the pieces/pricing. The food was tasty, the drinks satisfying. A short review for a first impression, but this will be a regular spot for us I’m sure.

I have been enjoying The Starving Artist Café since it opened. I love how close it is to my neighborhood. I’ve hosted several events there. The food is always fresh and the service is top notch. It’s a locals hangout to me as when I walk in the door, I usually see someone I know. Today I met someone new so it’s just an all around GREAT place.

This place is great, as all the reviews show so I’ll just add to it here. This is my new favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Great coffee, nice place to sit and work, as well as meet for breakfast or lunch. Food is very good — have tried breakfast and lunches and both are outstanding. Nice little vibe in shop with friendly service. Weekday lunch — haven’t had a bad sandwich here yet; and the salads look good too. Weekend brunch suggestion — try the stuffed french toast.

I went here for the first time today and I loved it. I had a sandwich, the gouda mac and cheese, a glass of wine, and a vanilla latte. While most of these items were mediocre to good, the gouda mac and cheese was EXCELLENT. The service was also excellent. And I was so suprised that I had such a cheap grand total. I can’t believe I didn’t come here sooner! I will be back

Really, really, really cool spot located in the North Colley section of Norfolk. I’ve heard of a lot of networking events taking place during breakfast times and when I was thinking up breakfast places on Sunday, I almost forgot to think of SAC. Thank you, Unilocal, for the reminder. People have said great things about them so my expectations were high and these folks did not disappoint. Great prices. Everything was under $ 10. Healthy food options. Just reading the menu made you feel good even if you ordered two items on the menu like I did. I opted for the eggs benedict: poached eggs and country ham on and English muffin with hollandaise and hash browns. This tasted great… And the picture made it even look more delicious. On top of that, I ordered a blueberry pancake. Nailed it! If you’re going to eat like a fat kid you might as well do it first thing in the morning, right? Healthy portions, refreshing, and a light feeling when I cleared my plate. The owner stopped by to check on us and she was very friendly. Smiles all around to everyone there. Great spot. Glad to have started off my Sunday morning with them. I shall return!

Great place, food, coffee and people! They are open until 3:00 every day and even though we walked in 10 minutes before they closed(we thought it was 4:00!) they were so great and the food was amazing. They also have a patio and puppy dogs can sit with you. That right there had me sold! So happy to support you guys and can’t wait to eat every thing on the menu… this will be fun !!

The best eggs Benedict in town hands down! The salty ham is perfect and the home made hollandaise sauce pulls it all together!

The Starving Artist Café on Colley Avenue is a nifty little place. Its got a bit of a family vibe to it. They have a wide assortment of very special specialty coffees ranging in price from $US2 to $US4. I had a heavenly Raspberry Latte four for bucks and a whey cool fresh fruit smoothie called the Green Palette which was spinach, apple, pears and kiwi for four fifty. Cause you gotta stay hydrated, especially if you got a hangover. Oh, and a dessert beer called Dirty Little Freak, again four fifty to help with the hangover. Also the Edvard Munch panini which was ham, cheddar, tomato and dijon mustard on whole wheat. That was a Scream. Get it… Munch painted the Scream! Keep in mind they close at 4 pm most days, so you can always go down the street to the Colley Cantina if you need to hydrate more.

Everything is less than $ 10 and the food is exceptional for the price. The service is great, and they deliver to your table. The décor is from local artists I believe, and its makes for an excellent environment. And excellent example of a café
