What can I say that hasn’t already been mentioned by the other reviewers. This spot is take out only. When I pulled up to this shopping center I immediately noticed the homeless man changing his socks as well some guy cussing out his friend as he rinsed off his hands with a bottle of water. Getting to the food and the restaurant. This was my first time here and I have to admit I was a bit nervous about checking it out. Once inside the gentleman assisting another customer AND the customer were welcoming and mentioned their favorite choices. The young lady who I placed my order with answered my many questions(and I did ask a ton) and offered up suggestions. I decided on the four wings with gravy dinner with mac and cheese and greens for my sides. I do wish that there was a seating area, but I understand why they do not offer that as an option. The meal was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s. The wings were fried and covered in brown gravy(i didn’t want the grilled onions), the mac and cheese was amazing, and the greens were so good I’m drooling right now thinking about it. Next time I think I’ll get one of the Meal Time Meals because the dinner is definitely big enough to feed two people(or one hungry grizzly bear).

I went to this place today and LOVEDIT! I give two snaps and a um UMGOOD! I had the barbecued turkey wing dinner. I have never had a turkey wing so full of flavor and fall off the bone good. The park Owasso a little weird but I would definitely recommend this restaurant. In the words of the Terminator, I’ll be back.

I visited there Friday night. The smothered chicken wings does not disappoint! I love big wings, and was so excited that they aren’t like all the other chicken restaurants that serves those tiny, sickly wings. I ordered mashed potatoes and green beans to go along with it. The person that makes the mashed potatoes is a person after my own heart because they make it lumpy and you can tell that it’s not boxed flakes. The green beans were flavorful and all the food is freshly prepped. I live about 6 min from there, and my food was still piping hot. It was my first time there(slacking, I know) but I’ll be going there again this week. I only wish they were open on Mondays and Tuesdays, but hey everybody needs time off

I finally made it in to try this restaurant. Let me tell you. The food was really good. I took the advice of other Unilocaled and called my order in so there was no wait. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean. I ordered the flying spaghetti which was flawless! I couldn’t even eat it all.(More for later) The chicken wings are really flavorful and we’re cooked perfectly. The reason why I only have 4 stars is because of the jacks. I ordered an apple jack and a sweet potato jack. They were really soggy and the apple was over spiced. I love jacks, but I think they should be fried to order amd definitely not put into a sandwhich bag. I will definitely be back!

I always try to hit this place up 1 a month, seeing as it’s the only soul food place in the area. I normally get the chicken with Mac and cheese and yams… but this time I tried the collards and cabbage amazing… you gotta get there early before they run out of Mac and cheese its beyond good! service is always great!

The food is the closest I have been able to find to «Los Angeles Style Soul Food»(Trust me, many to choose from there). The food is reasonable and delicious. I rarely ever post reviews however if you like Soul Food, you must try this. I must warn you, it’s a pick up only establishment!!! The food is so good I have set in my car and tasted because I just didn’t want to wait until I got home. Call early, they run out toward the end of the day which is just another confirmation, it’s all that!!! Enjoy.

First time here in this little place. Looks good. Off Tidewater Drive in Norfolk. This place is pretty good. Service was great and the food was better. I got the spaghetti and chicken wing special for $ 7.95. My first time eating turkey in a spaghetti and it was actually good. There is flavor in every bite. Wow!!! Chicken wings seasoned really well. There was sausage in every bite of the spaghetti. I would come back to this place any time. I posted pics of the food the people with me got. Be prepared to spend a little time to wait for food but it’s worth it. A+ in my book and I don’t give A+ out easy…

Average food at best. Good cornbread but other than that not much going for them. Good service and hot food made to order.

If I had to rate this place just based on the sweet potato jack dessert, I would give it 5 stars. This was my 1st time tasting a sweet potato jack. It was delicious. However, the rest of the food was blah… Mac n cheese was over cooked. Candied yams were not good. Cabbage was good. I was soooo disappointed with the candied yams because it is my favorite side dish. How can the sweet potato jack be soooo good, but the candied yams side were not good?

Well this 1 star is for how good the food smelt but too bad they wouldn’t serve me because they weren’t taking orders anymore. Not only did I want to go crazy because it smelt delicious, I was pissed because I called three times trying to place a Togo order but nobody answered The food could be good idk haven’t had it yet but HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE! I’m a manager at a ballpark and I know people want to go home after a long day but to turn away 3 customers because they didn’t order yet was ridiculous; especially when have food still cooking and you don’t answer the phone 45 mins before closing time — how was I supposed to make my order if you don’t answer? I’ll wait… Will probably try it one day but for all the hassle and attitude I got from my one visit I can try a few more soul food places first. Oh and it would be nice if it didn’t close right when people get off work. Tunnel traffic sucks and we all know so why do you close at 7?

I really liked this place when I first started going a few months ago. The portions were ample and delicious so I traveled from deep in Virginia Beach just for this place. Unfortunately, the last 2 times I went it wasn’t that great. I don’t know if they changes cooks or recipes bit it’s not as great as it once was. It is still good but I think I will use the other soul food place that’s closer to my home for my soul food fix going forward. It doesn’t make me want to travel to get there anymore.

Heard about this establishment from the clerk at a nearby Rite Aid, and was told it was the best in Norfolk so we had to try it. Well we were a bit surprised walking in to find out that it was a take out only restaurant. That didn’t discourage us, we still gave it a try. There was a long line inside, but they moved very fast. There are a few seats to sit and wait also. The area is clean and customer service wasn’t bad. They have various dinners that come with a meat and 2 sides for $ 9. We had smothered pork chops, fried chicken wings, Collards and cabbage mix, Mac n cheese and yams. I was disappointed with the Collards and cabbage mix only because I don’t care for the two mixed, however the taste wasn’t bad. Some of the best Collards and cabbage that I’ve had in Hampton Roads. The Mac n cheese was good but needed alot of salt and a dash of pepper. The wings were good. Nice and crispy. Well seasoned. My personal taste buds wished the yams were sweeter but they were still good. The best item was the smothered pork chops. They were very tender and the gravy was scrumptious. They offer you a choice of cornbread or rolls with your dinner, and we chose cornbread. The cornbread tasted just like cornmeal. No flavor whatsoever! They give large pieces but maybe they messed that batch up. It was horrible. Also very dry. Overall we enjoyed everything, except the cornbread.

I have been remiss in writing a review for Some Da Eat. That changes immediately because the food here is sho nuff good. I found out about Some Da Eat from checking out my best friends Unilocal page(Hey Tarsha!) Call ahead for the pick up of your order. This is not a dine in establishment. What I appreciate the most is that whenever I call and have questions or placing an order, they are pleasant and patient and helpful when making suggestions. None of that rude, rushing you off of the phone ish. I was a wee bit leery about trying the cabbage-collard mix; I am now totally onboard as I found it was quite tasty and is an excellent side dish option. The potato salad is good too. I got the flying spaghetti(2 wings and cheesy spaghetti made w/ground turkey) and it’s a hit too. For those who do not consume pork, there are plenty of options for you too. On the weekends they’ll have different specials like pigs feet or smoked racks of ribs. When ordering chicken, it’s fried golden brown and they don’t serve wimpy sized wings. The parking lot is pretty busy but you can park on the side and just walk around the corner. They get a lot of business so when you go to pick up it may be standing room only. Check out the pictures I’ve posted to get a glimpse of their menu.

I was in the area and wanted to grab something quick since I’ve heard many good things about their food. I ordered the 3 sides combo for $ 5 Yams, cabbage and mac & cheese all three were delicious and tasted homemade. This establishment is completely carry out so you cannot sit down and enjoy a meal here but that doesn’t discourage me. Hopefully In the future I’ll have more time and try their turkey wings or the flying spaghetti.

I have tried many dishes and they were all good. I highly recommend the Baked Chicken and Flying Spaghetti. I only have one complaint: pay attention to the total cost of your food. Their register has to be cleared out before taking another order. If the register is not cleared, then you will be over charged with the order from a previous customer. I have been over charged on two separate occasions; Today I was over charged $ 5.65. However; I know it is an Operator Error(on the register) and the over charging is not done intentionally. Both times I was refunded without a hassle. You may have to pull out your calculator on your phone. Lol

I’ll say this. You definitely want to call in your order. I had the fried pork chop dinner with cabbage & Mac n Cheese as the sides. It was real MnC but it wasn’t as creamy as I like it but it s good. The cabbage was good and the two chops I got were tastey & huge. I also has the apple jack dessert. It was great. The guy at the counter was nice and the place is clean. I will be going back
