I was in town for the marathon and needed some fuel for my run. The restaurant feels like you are in a family kitchen. The staff is friendly and warm. It was a little noisy but it was from families doing what they do when they eat(telling stories, laughing, kids being kids). Jon was my server and did a fantastic job of getting me what I needed. The portion size was huge. My fettuccine Alfredo with homemade Italian sausage was phenomenal. The price is good and I will be back when I am in town again!

Dinner at Regino’s was great! We ordered the veal parmesan to share and it was plenty of food to till us up. Tasted great too. It cam with a side of pasta and we choose fettuccine. The bread they give you is scrumptious. It was hard to limit ourselves to one basket. Service was nice and the price was right. I would recommend going and we will be returning.

As a family favorite for years, Regino’s is our go-to spot for any family dinner. The service is fast and intimate and the food is good no matter what you get. The Greek salad is to die for and everything is so good! Definitely try it out if you want good food!

It’s basically going to your Italian grandmother’s for dinner. They all welcomed us warmly and fawned over our kids, even giving them little toys to keep them entertained. The wine was wonderful and inexpensive. The service was attentive, a young guy, very personable. Everything came out freshly made and tasted fantastic. Confession: I don’t usually even like bread, but this was so warm and smelled so good, we finished the basket and they right away came to ask if we wanted more… and I was tempted. So by the time the food came out we could only eat a fraction of each of our giant entrees – the ravioli and ziti – both knockouts that tasted just like homemade. The ravioli were big soft pockets with sweetly imperfect lines, nothing from a box or factory. This is the best f-ing ziti I’ve had in my life, and ziti’s my mom’s signature dish, so don’t tell her I said that, it’s a pretty deep betrayal. We took boxes home and ate for the rest of the week, lunch and dinner, it was seriously like 8 meals, and it seemed to just get tastier as it steeped in spices. The caveat, just like the grandma’s I remember, the smell is a little dusty when you first walk in, but once you’re used to it, the food, wine, and friendliness(and not having to cook for another four days) are so worth it. Go see your grandma.

It’s hard to impress me with Italian Restaurants in Tidewater, VA, but Regino’s is one that did it. I hadn’t even thought of Regino’s for more than 20 years, but my daughter and her boyfriend asked us to accompany them. We did although it has relocated since I’d last heard of them. My wife and I ordered a small order of linguine with white clam sauce — TOOSHARE — And the chef separated the portions before they were brought to the table. We left with the remains — enough for 2 more meals each; and it was fantastically tasty, well prepared with opened baby clams around the dishes, hot baked Italian bread — crispy on the outside and fabulous on the inside; butter and olive oil with balsamic vinegar. With iced tea and tip the total was $ 25.25. With free parking at the front door, it won’t be another 20 years before I go back. Totally incredible with an attentive and professionally responsive wait staff.

First timer here; thanks Unilocal!I ordered the A La Reginos(spaghetti with sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, green peppers, lots of cheese in a marinara sauce) and Fried Ravioli… Holy yum! Paired with the fresh, hot Italian bread, I have so much food, I will have leftovers for at least three days! I will without a doubt be back. very soon! Staff was friendly, warm and inviting; food was prepared fresh and fast! Definitely would recommend to anyone craving deliciousness! Thank you so much!

We came here based on a recommendation from a friend. The place itself is not very clean. The window at our booth had a ton of dead flies(and some live ones) and the carpet can use some deep cleaning but they do have some nice old photos and figurines which make it look authentic. The complimentary bread and butter was pretty simple yet warm and tasty. We ordered the«Vesuvius» pizza. It was loaded with meats, garlic and cheese. The garlic was on in clumps so make sure you spread it out before taking a bite. But the pizza had a good taste and was very fulfilling. Overall the food was good but the place really needs an upgrade or at the very least a cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The service was good.

It is a little slow but that’s because everything is made to order and prepared with love. The price is way worth the quality and amount of food. I love this place. Feels like family when I come here!

I took a leap of faith going to Regino’s. I had seen good reviews(some are over two years old) but I had to meet a friend in that vicinity. I ordered the grilled chicken salad and it was a nice portion but it had a melted cheese slice on top. Yes, an American cheese slice served in what I thought was an Italian place. I let it go … removed it and ate the chicken filet and some of the salad which consisted of very large chunks of iceberg lettuce. The house dressing was ok, but the garlic bread was a bit burned. At the end of my meal I asked for a cup of coffee and got two little tubs of curdled creamer. I am never going there again.

This place was ok. I wouldn’t go back, but it wasn’t awful. the vodka pasta would have been excellent but it was heavily over salted. I mentioned this to the waiter for the next service of the meal. the lasagna was not good. the sauce was very acidic and watery. service was good, atmosphere was lousy. Sorry

Wow! I’ve heard about this place for years. Once upon a time, I lived across the street and never sampled the food. That was my mistake. I had the Old World Lasagne. If I said that It was very good; I would be understating the taste and quality of the dish. This lasagne had the«perfect» balance of cheese, meat, sauce, mushrooms and best of all, a perfect pasta made ONPREMISES!!! The«small» salad was enough for five. No one complained about their food. Correction, the only complaint was that the portions were«too large.» We’ve already planned on the leftovers for lunch and possibly dinner. Another plus, the service… great! Our server, Jake, was attentive not only to the adults of our party, but also to the children. He knew the menu and was able to make suggestions that proved to be spot on! When I want a meal that will not disappoint; when I want good customer service Regino’s will be my «to go» place.

We’ve been here several times and it never disappoints. The pizza is amazing, as other Unilocalers have said, but the other menu items are fantastic! A personal favorite is the mozzarella & tomatoes. They make their own mozzarella and it’s creamy and delicious. Our server on this visit was Jake and he was fantastic! Very knowledgable about the wine and the menu. His recommendation of the Superior Prawns was spot on. Lots of big tasty shrimp sautéed in butter and garlic over a mountain of angel hair was on point — exactly what I was craving. Salads here are big and fresh — no brown bag lettuce here — the table of 6 next to us shared a large Greek salad and had leftovers! And the bread… oh the bread! Crusty on the outside, warm and soft on the inside. I could make a meal of that alone! The only thing I’d like to see here is grated Parmesan at the table instead of the powdery shake on kind that’s standard at any pizza place. Only disappointment on this visit was that they were out of fresh mozzarella by 6:30 on a Saturday night. Come hungry — the portions are HUGE!

And there was this place ! I was tired of eating in chain restaurants when it came to Italian. I had lost all hope. Then I saw the big sign down the road, saw the awards it has received. I walked in and I was overwhelmed by how authentic this place really is. Now I’m a repeat customer here, not gonna lie, I leave here feeling guilty as heck cause I just blew away my calorie count. The food is simply awesome! Pizzas, pastas and salads as well. And the burgers OMG ! Definitely come hungry !

One of my favorites. I love the pizza so much I be never ordered anything else. The staff is super friendly and remember me each time. If I could I. prove anything it would be the décor. Doesn’t have to be dramatic but small changes would make a huge difference

Had an excellent lunch that felt like a Dinner! Had the Sausage and Peppers pasta lunch special and it was delicious. Owner/Chef came out during our meal and made sure everything was good. Everything is home made, from the sauces, sausage and meatballs. Good amount of food, didn’t need dinner that day as I was still full from lunch. If you are looking for a family run restaurant and not a chain with the same flavors this is your spot!

The calamari was unbelievably good! The marinara was next level good. The pizza was really good too. I love the thick sliced pepperoni they use here. Regino’s has been around for ever. I have been coming here for many years. I usually always get the same thing though. If you want a good pizza this is definitely the place to be! If you want to be a cheap a$$ then go to papa johns or pizza hut. But if you want good a good quality pie that has been serving Norfolk for many years then this is the place to be!!!

I realize that this place has a strong following and that was part of the reason we stopped in. My buddy kept ranting and raving about the pizzas of his youth so we quickly found ourselves ordering a large with everything on it: the cost of this behemoth was $ 30+ and when it finally showed up, it was so heavy that I was certain that we were going to need a forklift to get it out of the building, Now let me just say that I love pizza and choose it above all other foods in sickness and in health, but this pie was strangely different. It was loaded with pounds of meat, cheese, onions, garlic, and peppers. all of which had been minced together to a thick carpet of overpowering goo on the crust The worst part was the garlic for it was so pungent that became to think that I had turned into a vampire or something. This pie was so bad that my buddy and I couldn’t finish the thing(a rate thing indeed). In fact, it reeked with so much garlic that we had to place it out on the balcony just so we could breath. To be fair the people working here were very nice and I am certain that other items on the menu have to be better than what was simply the worst pizza that I have ever had in my life. I’m sure that some customers must like this version but for my taste it’s New York Style all the way.

This place is a riot! Our son wanted ravioli and this was one of the few places open on New Year’s Day. We were not disappointed! Although the food is a tad salty, the portions were huge, the seasoning spot on, the drinks strong, and the service attentive. Our to-go boxes will feed us for days. The décor is old school tacky and we loved it.

Regino’s may not look like much from the outside, but there is much more to this 70+ year old family business once you step inside. There is no mistaking the exterior is indeed an old Pizza Hut. However the food cranked out from the kitchen of this Norfolk eatery is anything but ordinary chain grub. The history of this family establishment dates back three generations of Regino’s. First located on Main St. in downtown Norfolk, then later Wards Corner in Norfolk and now it’s present day home for twelve years on East Little Creek close to the Ocean View area in Norfolk. It’s present day location is just a quarter mile from Gate 2 Little Creek off of Shore Dr. it is easy to find. Look for it on the North side of the road and you will see banners for«Best of» for different years all along the East side. Parking was fine on my visit tonight, but if completely packed I could see an issue. I have been wanting to check this place out for a long time after seeing rave reviews from Joe D. and others. So what better time than New Years eve with the family. I had planned on take out and reviewing the menu once I arrived. I told the sweet middle aged woman that it was my first time and needed a menu to review. I was immediately treated like family on my first visit. After discussing some options and recommendations I ordered a starter of fried ravioli and half peperoni, sausage. According to the woman everything is homemade and fresh. While waiting for pizza and set up at bar with a soda and bread on the house. The bread was hot and incredibly delicious. The inside is dark and cozy with a small bar in the middle. The dining room seating have perimeter booths, just like the olé style of the previous restaurant that occupied it’s space. The décor is somewhat dated, but dare say it is charming and has a comfortable vibe. Lucky for me I was in early enough to avoid a big crowd and my take out order was ready in 15 minutes, or so. After arriving home in around 10 minutes the pizza and ravioli were still hot. They put a loaf of bread in with the order as well, so a great treat for the family to enjoy too. A nice size of Marinara sauce was included with the fried ravioli. After getting everything unpacked and on plates it was time to sample this great smelling chow. The pizza was super cheesy and had a healthy amount of meat spread all over every piece of real estate. I enjoyed the taste and texture of the pie which is a departure from you will commonly find. Everything was so fresh, but the crust was the hero, not greasy in the least and like a puff pastry. Not to be out down by the fried cheese ravioli which was down right scrumptious. I kept those bad boys dunked in the delicious red sauce often. I only held back a star because it was my first visit and I did not experience eating in the dining room. There is no hype in the reviews on Regino’s. So when Joe D. says it’s the best pizza in Hampton Roads I am not going to pick a fight with him and dispute his opinion. I look forward to coming back and providing an update.
