I stayed here in September, 2014 and had a great room, great experience with friendly employees. Decided to stay here this time and apparently July 2015 is much different. My husband who is handicapped asked for a ground floor room. They said there were none available. But I’ve watched and there are 7 rooms under us on the ground floor that are totally empty. After I managed to get my husband to the room, we found we had one towel. Had to get in the car to drive to the office since my handicapped husband can hardly walk and I can’t leave him alone. Luckily the guest laundry is at the bottom of our dungeon stairs. However I had to leave the laundry unattended since its sweltering in the laundry room. Laundry costs $ 2 a load, $ 2 to dry. Atleast the dryer dried the first time. Just hoping we aren’t forgotten at the end of our little dungeon. Will rethink ever staying here again.

Over price for what you get. Décor is out dated. Room wallpaper look like it’s about to fall apart. Staff were excelent friendly and polite. That’s the only good thing I can say and it’s probably the only thing keeping it at a three star. Subpar hotel for an overpriced stay. Navy lodge and ngis is way better pound for pound.

The good: the staff was extremely friendly, and did go out of their way to try and accommodate some of my concerns(unsuccessfully tried to get me in a non-smoking room). And(slow) free WiFi. The bad: the room I stayed in was atrocious. I’ve stayed in lodging in third world countries nicer than this(this is not an exaggeration, and I’m fully qualified to make that assessment). Wallpaper was peeling from the wall, the bathroom door had either blood or feces on it; my sheets were stained, mold in the shower, and the bathroom was never cleaned while I was there(for weeks). Carpet had stains from I don’t know what and the window-mounted A/C had a hard time keeping up with the Norfolk summer. The free breakfast was okay, hardboiled eggs, orange/apple juice, a single waffle maker, cereal, toast/bagel and usually muffins. Free’s free I guess. Nothing in the way of fresh(or canned) fruits, etc. Burnt out lightbulbs weren’t changed out, and like the other reviews, everything was what you’d expect from a Red Roof Inn or Motel 6 for $ 30 cheaper per night. As for some of the nitpicky stuff: TV was from 1990, remote barely worked, and the ironing board/iron was stained and had gunk on it. Additionally, the motel being one of the cheaper options in this Navy-centric area, is a popular overnight location for junior enlisted sailors looking to get away from their ships on random weeknights, and they come en-masse(6 – 7 per room) spilling out into the hallways. Continuous profanity, broken beer bottles, vomit and two people naked having sex in front of my door were one night’s worth of interrupted sleep until 3 a.m. And it happens 2 – 3 times per week. It’s not worth risking it if you have a family, at all. Go somewhere else. If you’re single and can afford another $ 10 a night and a few extra minutes of traffic, go somewhere else. You pay for a comfortable stay, get your money’s worth.

Thank goodness I’m only staying for one night because the smell in my room is terrible and suffocating. The carpet is dirty as well. Why oh why did I inflict this upon myself? Oh… Unilocal and Google Place reviews.

Free wifi, free continental breakfast. This Quality Inn is just minutes from Naval Station Norfolk on Hampton Blvd. They offer AAA or military discounts as well. There is an indoor pool adjacent to the front desk area. Free breakfast from 6−10am. They serve cereal, milk, oj, hot biscuits and gravy, bagels and fruit. Not a bad deal. It’s near some fast food joints and just 20 minutes from downtown Norfolk. Free wifi — here’s the code and password; username: virginia, password: military. So if you are within the range of the wifi router, just use the code listed above. You do need to login again if there is inactivity with your computer, which can be annoying. No volume control — my tv had a preset volume already set. You couldn’t change the volume via the remote or the tv itself. And it was louder than what I was used to. I usually sleep with the tv on, but not when it is too loud, so I had to prop a couple of pillows against the tv speakers to minimize the sound. Yes I had to do this for four nights. Orginally I was setup with a king size bed but the only ones available were in the smoking rooms. I told them it was fine to downgrade me, just as long it’s a non-smoking room and ended up with a double bed… again this is fine since it is just me. But the room definitely smelled like residual smoke. I had to bear through it for four nights. Cheap rooms, free food, free wifi. Good enough… I guess.
