Let me start off by saying the food was pretty good, so the review isn’t about that but rather the service I received Sunday December 132015. My family and I were at the NEX and sat down after shopping to relax and eat. As we were looking over our NEX receipt we found $ 90 in extra charges, and my three year old was being horrible so I was already in a not-so-great mood. Since we were dealing with the receipt and my grumpy, tired 3 year old, my cousin went up and ordered the two subs I had texted her. She came back and the subs were hot, even though I wanted cold. I went up to exchange them and apparently all of them are hot. I didn’t know this, and she didn’t specify so it was obviously our mistake. I told the cashier that I didn’t realize they were hot and asked if he could make them cold. He RUDELY said«Well she didn’t specify how she wanted them and ALL of our subs are hot unless specified!»(and when I say rude, I mean RUDE!!) He then jerked them out of my hand, lifted up a box on top of the trash can, and threw them in there. He handed the receipt to the cook and said loudly«They wanted cold but didn’t specify. Just remake them.»(or something along those lines), and told me rudely again that they would remake them and it would be 7 minutes. When I went back up to get them he practically threw them at me. Now, I understand it was our mistake and our fault.(I will say I’ve had platters from there at work and they were cold. I assumed they were all cold unless stated hot like Subway, I was obviously wrong.) If he couldn’t replace them then that would have been ok, just tell me that. I will either suck it up and eat it, or purchase new ones. Don’t treat me rudely just because I made a mistake. My cousin said he did the same thing to a customer in front of her before she ordered our food. I have honestly NEVER been treated that poorly but an employee of any establishment, EVEN when I possibly deserved to be treated poorly(which this was not the case.) I choose not to argue back(I wanted the correct food for one, and I’m not going to take my frustrations out on someone else even though he didn’t give me the same courtesy.) I do plan to call the manager too because honestly, this was just so ridiculous and rude.

I have been to firehouse many times and i dont take time out to really review big franchises but every now and then i like to appreciate them depending how the food was made and seeing those 5 stars i am sure you would wonder why someone would be so impressed by a franchise sub store so was on vaca at VA beach and came to this firehouse to grab lunch before heading to beach. The line had like 6 –7 ppl as usual during lunch time but the line moved really quick. the girl took orders quickly and the subs were coming out really quickly. i ordered engineer with chicken. this was my first time with new chicken stripes after the deli chicken was ousted. I must say i enjoy this more than the deli sliced chicken. They put all the works as requested and some extra more that i requested. The cheese was nicely melted since i substituted to provolone from swiss. Overall the sub was great. The person whoever made it made it with love and all the food was placed within the sub properly nothing hanging and falling outside. The hot sauce selection was good too. I love it when employees work hard and put love in the food they make. This also is sign of good management overall.

I’m a big fan of firehouse subs but never have i stood and waited at the register and had to ask if anyone was working the front(essentially ask to have my order taken). No one even looked to see if there was a customer standing there. So after standing there for a good 2 – 3 minutes i called back loud enough and asked«is anyone working the front?» Then of course someone pokes they’re head out and slowly proceeds to the register. Only reason i am giving this one of many firehouse subs a two star is because every time i come to firehouse no matter which sub or food item i choose it is prepared fast, hot(if applicable), and quality is fantastic every time and this one had the quality of food i was expecting despite the register issues. I look forward to seeing how my next experience with the staff goes the next time i have a craving for this establishment. If it is the same then i will drive clean across town and go to my favorite one where the staff greet you kindly and acknowledge your existence the entire time you are a customer. This review is not exaggerated at all. They didn’t even apologize for their mistake and when the associate got to the register of course he wasn’t happy that i called them out! I am sorry if i came across as being rude i did take into mind that he was busy working and wasn’t pissin in the wind but really having to ask to be helped looking to spend my money at your is establishment a EPICFAILURE. if it happens again i wont be sorry at all i might just keep waiting and when they finally show their faces ill order cancel my order walk to the next restaurant over and order food there. Waste their time for wasting myn.(Rant finished!!) please dont fail me again!

It’s ok. Personally you can get better food at the food court and better subs at a subway(cheaper too!) Their meatball sandwich was eh. I like how they have all that hotsauce out(rating in hotness from 1(not hot) to 10(very hot)) I like that their soda machine is a «freestyle» model and you can go back for easy refills. They can add some veggies to your sandwich but I didnt see the little advertisement for that until after I ordered my sandwich :/eh. All in all… pretty ok place to eat, best place in the food court to get a soda. There are cheaper options for food though.

This location is like every other Firehouse location I have been to. Nothing special about it. If you haven’t had Firehouse… picture Subway and make it taste a little better. A sandwich is a sandwich. Their sandwiches are good though! They also give the option to add extra meat which my husband enjoys. I love the soda machine, but I was heartbroken when it was out of cherry syrup last time I was there.

Kind of dissapointed, probably should have read the reviews first. Wife ordered a sandwich with just lettuce and tomato; got onions instead of tomato. This is just an overpriced subway, portions are small and steaming the meat makes the bread soggy. Im just glad they opened up a bojangles in the same food court.

I have been to this Firehouse Subs a couple of times in the past few months. It’s a great change from the Subway types, even though I guess it is a Subway-type of place. Anyway, I can’t say I had a bad experience there like some of the other reviewers. The menu itself can be a bit confusing, but not impossible to figure out. I really love the soda options they offer. They have the really cool coke dispenser that gives you like a million options, but they are missing the best option of them all –grape dr. pepper. Never tried it? Do so! Until I invent my own machine or convince Coca-Cola to start bottling it, I guess I will still have to make my own brew. Sometimes, when I eat at the food court at the NEX, I will stop at Firehouse just for the drink. Free refills for Firehouse customers only ;) I digress…

New owners. This location was taken over by different folks in May ’13. I had the opportunity to talk directly to the owner who helped me with a donation for a fundraiser. She was friendly and very helpful. Our fundraiser was a success and the brownies and cookies were awesome! All the little ones loved the fireman hats. We visit this location frequently for lunch and love their food. The staff greets quickly. This location is super busy but they work fast. Try them again and give a local business owner a shot. Thanks! One happy customer!

Flipping awful. I keep giving Firehouse multiple chances(this was my first trip to this location but still the same terrible experience). Cashier could not get out order right to save her life, then the cooks couldn’t be bothered to actually full the order as it was listed on the slip. Seriously easiest order ever: 2 steak and cheeses with mayo, lettuce and tomato… No mustard, no peppers, no onions. One came with everything and the other was right. Food didn’t even taste fresh either. Three strikes Firehouse. Sorry for ya.

Its the NEX Food Court. The place is exclusive, that is, it’s not exactly open to the public. This is one of the problems with not only FireHouse, but the rest of the eateries inside the NEX — There is not a lot of choices in this area and they have a captive audience. Little has changed in the last 10 years. The Food Court employees are indeed friendlier than they used to be, but this is because they used to be downright nasty to the Sailors and Sailor families that frequent the place. I get it, it’s a high stress job, at lunch time anyway — No other choices, captive audience. Back to FireHouse, went there with a colleague who needed to buy something at the NEX, and decided to get some sandwiches on the way out. Were there right after the lunch crowd so it seems the«associates» were decompressing from a large post-payday crowd. The cashier was trying to eat his lunch and was talking so fast that we couldn’t understand him. I asked for no mayo or mustard. They steam the sandwiches here, I don’t get it, and I don’t really like it. I guess the steaming moistens the bread, hydrates the meat, and softens/melts the cheese. So after ordering, we waited quite awhile for the sandwich artistes to steam and construct our sandwiches. Problem is, and I can understand, these guys were in some sort of euphoric state after probably making it through a hectic lunch crowd. They were really nice, mind you, and even talked to us to ensure our orders were right. I don’t think they were really listening though, they’ve got that ruse down. Plus it was a little awkward that all work would FULL-STOP when an attractive female would walk through the court/past the restaurant, and 2 out of the 3 guys would point, peer over the«kitchen”-dining area divider and switch between talking loudly so the girl could hear them, and whispering to each other while ogling the girl. This behavior made the sandwich making process slow way down and they would totally screw up the order. When I finally got my sandwich, my colleague was half done with his. Opened the wrapper and it was slathered with mayo. Took it back, cashier apologized for talking too fast while he was taking the order, and asked the sandwich-steamers to make another — no mayo/no mustard. Same scenario — nice guys confirmed at least three times, no mayo/no mustard; see girl, point, murmur, yell, stop working, ogle; then wander around, remember to make sandwich, ask again about no mayo/no mustard, give me sandwich. Back to the dining area, colleague is finished with his meal and playing with his phone. Open wrapper, sandwich is slathered with mustard. I went back to the munching cashier and asked for my money back. The supervisor came out and asked for my receipt. She wasn’t mean or anything, probably just going through the process. Gave me my money back and I went to the grocery store and bought an apple.

This sandwich shop is located inside the Navy Exchange mall area. The lines can get a little busy at this place because the number of eating places here is limited. The ordering line was a little show at times(only one person working the register) but once you ordered – it took about 3 – 5 minutes. They had about 6 – 7 people making sandwiches. A combo medium sandwich(about 6−8in) with chips and a medium drink ran about $ 8.68 – about average. Subway seemed to offer better specials than this place. The sandwich was pretty good for a plain Ham and cheese and a few condiments(could have used more) on wheat bread. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to look for it. There are plenty of alternatives out there, but if you can’t find one and really want a sub – this place is ok.
