Cal’z Pizza

I’m giving this visit five stars all the way around. Let me set this up for you. This particular location of Cal’z Pizza is right outside Naval Base Norfolk. For the most part, business outside the base play to getting money from our military and not always quality of service and product, but this Cal’z makes a liar our of that statement.
Went on a Saturday afternoon a day before the Super Bowl. The restaurant is obviously designed for take-​out or delivery, it only has one table for din-​in. Living on the peninsula, I try to make it point to stop at any Cal’z and get their wings which we will talk about later. But what made this visit so special is the nice young man who waited on us. He is an exception to the rule of quality service. He went way out of his way to make us feel welcomed. He was so nice, professional and knowledgable of the products. We ordered 30 hot wings, fries and a meatball sub. He said about 12 minutes and it was ready right on the money. Service with a smile! He made us feel so honored to be there.
Now the food: The wings are unique, I’d say the best in Hampton Roads. This is why I go to Cal’z is for the wings. But the other food was just as good. Served hot and fresh and everything was there. We had a nice portion of fries, the meatball was piping hot like it was fresh out of the over (which it was) and everything tasted GREAT!
WHAT AN AWESOME VISIT! If you are every in town go to Cal’z. you will not be disappointed!

I love this, place. They know me by face now. I do order their pizza but I prefer other things. Their wings are good, their garlic bread thingy I enjoy, salads are nice and also affordable. But their fried dough and italian sandwich make my heart sing. I overdosed on them for a while and it was worth every pound!

It was OK it taste pretty good the presentation was messing to say the least. It might have been because the lunch hour rush, I hope that’s the case. The pizza fries were tasty again really messing my cheese wasn’t really on there to much. I’ll have to try this place again, at non lunch hours lol.

People say this place sucks, but I effing love it.

Great a Wings! Great delivery service to the Navy Lodge. There subs are not good at all. They have very little content and I would call them «sliders» not subs. Also had the Buffalo wing chicken ranch salad, not worth the money. Next time I am at Navy Lodge I will order the wings again for sure but nothin else.

Not bad, but not the best, to me anyway. I ordered 2 pieces of pepperoni since I was having a night in to myself, and I got a huge serving (4 slices really). I think it was the last bit of the sliced pizza, so it wasn’t really fresh. The flavor is pretty good, but the crust wasn’t *quite* done, was a little chewy on top. I may be back to order a large for the family, but will definitely be trying other places first.

Meh… Having a cheeseburger sandwich. It’s getting the job done. Food arrived cold& very late.
Customer service was indifferent, nonchalant & uninterested. Overall satisfying my hunger

Hot Wings are always on point here. Quick service as well… And it conveniently up the street from my job.

Pizza is sort of sub-​par. But I guess I have very high standards being a former New Yorker. Sandwiches and subs are pretty good though. Do yourself a favor and try the fried dough for desert. You’ll be hooked for life.

Fast delivery and excellent food. The prices are good too, not too expensive. They have a mix and match menu 2 items for 9.99. Not bad at all.

If you want something authentic, you better eat here. It’s way better than dominos or Pizza Hut and they never screw up my order. It tastes amazing every single time I go. I’m a huge fan of the subs. Js.

This place could not find my address. They passed the phone around three times and finally gave it to the manager. Then, they hung up on me.

Look for a good pizza in Norfolk? This is your place. We ordered the large double peperoni with mushrooms, was delivered to our door hot and ready in just about 40 min.
Lots of cheese and cute little peperoni pure yum. If your ever down here give it a try.

Delivery wasn’t that slow. the boneless wings were dry and hard and the pizza was dry as well. Not enough sauce at all. The pepperoni on my pizza was so dry and crispy like they over cooked them. The little potato rounds were the only thing that were ok. Not pleased but it is what it is. Probably a bad day but either way it goes I probably won’t order from here again. The driver was polite and nice.

Their prices are the reason I keep ordering. Their pizza isn’t great overall, but their crust is really sweet and yummy and a pizza, salami sub, boneless wings and poppers costs me less than $ 30. And it feeds 4! (okay…honestly…it’s more like two lonely navy wives with a bottle of wine, but still…)

Love my cheeseburger sub! Also love local local business that gives back. Their pizzas are good, the subs of all varieties are a great value for the money and super tasty. They really go the distance to take a role in the community, offering fund raising and sponsorships to local education, sports teams, and other great causes. Go ahead, order up a Calzilla and not only enjoy great food but know that your dollars are staying local. Great, now I’m hungry… ha!

The wings were pretty good but definitely not worth 10 for $ 10. The pizza ruins this place. Cheese is cheap and even looks like plastic. Don’t even try thinking that it’ll be good in the morning. I don’t know how this place got good reviews from other Unilocalers, they must be friends and/​or family of the people who run the place. Easily the worst pizza on Hampton Blvd

The wings are good, but watch out for the suicide. The flavor is great and the heat is even greater. My tongue was swolen after 2 wings. Good, but I won’t do that again.

There’s 1 (count them)… ONE booth for seating in this joint. It’s not really a dine-​in kinda place. Call, order, pick up, pay, go.
The wings have never had that soft, fleshy, not-​quite-​done feel to them, and they’re always positively swimming in sauce. The Hot is enough to make your mouth warm and tingly, but if you’re crazy, or just on a strict diet and don’t want to eat more than 5 wings in a sitting, by all means: try the Suicide. Each order comes with a handful of celery sticks and either Ranch or Bleu Cheese.
Our household’s favorite appetizer is definitely the battered mushrooms. Ah, so very, very tasty.
Just wish they’d extend their delivery area south of 38^th St. THAT would be 5-​star Worthy.
