I am a beginner at knitting so I literally went here to get my needles and yarn. Roz greeted me and asked if I could use any help and I told her I am here to get my starter kit. Super friendly and helpful, talked me through the whole process. Baa Baa Sheep is a true gem in a world sorely needing more like it. I am glad I went here instead of Amazon.

It’s Yarn-gallore! It’s a small shop tucked away on the far left in opposite end of Pelons. The place is filled with ikea bookshelves full of all sorts of different yarn. I think one thing that I would say is the fact that there were no clear labels as to where specific types of yarn were located. For instance, the cotton yarn that I needed were in the middle isle, but there were no signs for it. I had to ask the owner(the only employee) for assistance in finding things. Not that I mind doing so, I actually prefer talking to an employee, but in this day and age, most people would rather go in, find something real quick and then head out. Aside from that, the yarn here is not your cheap craft yarn. They’re a little pricier because it’s far better quality. The lady will roll up your hank or skein for you, but be aware that there are no returns after that. They offer knitting classes too! I would definitely come back to this place if I needed more yarn for my weaving class.

I stopped here when I was in Norfolk for work(always have to do the yarn shop inventory). I thought they had a nice selection of yarn, but it was so dark that I couldn’t tell what the colors would look like if I actually bought a given yarn. I know what certain colorways look like in lots of brands, and it was hard to find what I was looking for and then hard to identify it because the colors didn’t look right, I think because of the dim lighting. Seems like a small thing but in a yarn store it’s pretty important to know what a color looks like in brighter light.

Very helpful and knowledgable — great store! They carry yarn you can’t find anywhere else in Norfolk … and the store is locally owned! This is a great place for you whether you are advanced or beginner.

Best store so far! For local yarn shops there are few choices in the area. This shop stands out in its friendliness and customer service! Roz is a class act, truly kind, interested and encouraging. Her shop is small but her brand and line choices are some of the most popular yarns today. She currently carries Chiaogoo needles and yarns by Plymouth, Cascade, Blue Sky Alpacas and many many others. It is worth the drive!

Bright and lively store with the organized products openly set for touching and viewing. Owner Roz is a retired teacher, and her patience with new customers and crafters is refreshing for me to see. She carries not only ChiaoGoo Needles, Classic Elite Yarns, Blue Sky Alpaca, Plymouth Yarns, and many others in large quantities, but also original handdyers and manufacturers that are rarely seen. Besides free coffee and tea, the seating is comfortable for customers and learning students. Parking is ample in the lot and on the street for this young Ghent landmark. I snag every chance to visit whenever I am in the area.

Wonderful store, she carries a bit of every thing including some local yarns and fiber. The owner Roz is so accommodating and helpful, she is welcoming to all fiber folk young and old. Roz is nothing but nice to my knitting 10 year old daughter, and is so patient with her. Yarn is organized by weight and she has tons of patterns and pattern books. Her shop has many knitted samples and your are encouraged to touch and try things on. So happy to have a yarn store right here in Norfolk, I will always check with Baa Baa Sheep before going elsewhere or even ordering on line. Prices are just right and very fair.
