Nordland General Store

I lived nearby, in Port Hadlock, until September of last year. Nordland General Store was a required stop on bicycle rides to Marrowstone. The staff is welcoming, and it really is the center of the island. An astounding selection of foods for picnics. Great beer and wine selection. If you live on Marrowstone, you can pick up your mail here, rent a dvd, check out a paperback from the honor library, enjoy a visit around the stove, and kind of forget that you’re living in the 21^st Century.
Before you leave, you’ll wish you lived on Marrowstone.

Stop here for ice cream bars on your way to or from Fort Flagler. These Whidbey Island Ice Cream bars are the best ice cream bars you will have in your life. No hyperbole, they are that good. Otherwise, this is a very well stocked country store, a great place to stop if you need anything while you are staying on Marrowstone Island.

This is a must stop on your way to Fort Flagler or anyplace on Marrowstone Island. I’m pretty sure it’s the only store on the island. The store itself reflects the laid-​back quirkiness of the island. Marrowstone Island is just enough off the beaten path to make it one of my favorite day trip destinations. Nordland General Store has just about everything you need and more. The hand-​printed signs advertise «Wine — Best Selection in Town» and if you time it right «Goat Cheese is Here!» just in case you left your goat cheese at home. And folks, they have espresso, in case you needed some extra energy for your hike around Fort Flagler. While you’re browsing around, take a short walk outside and enjoy the view and the mysteries of Mystery Bay. It’s just a gorgeous place here.
