Amazing food! First time I have ever had South American food, and it was outstanding. We will definitely be back. Service was great too!

Not what I was expecting. We ordered a plate with different meat but the had run out of a specific meat so the gave us the same meat all around it was dry and over cooked. Not what the Argentina meat is known for. Very expansive!!! Not worth the money payed for. Service was not good as well. The only thing I liked was the mashed potatoes. That’s it. Even the sausage was ordinary I could of done this myself and saved the money

This is the second time my boyfriend and I eat at this restaurant and both times have been excellent. As you walk in they quickly greet you. They give free bread with butter when seated. We both ordered the«Chivito al pan» plate with mango juice and pineapple juice. The plate was absolutely delicious. The steak in it is super juicy and goes perfectly with the rest of its toppings: ham, bacon, hard boiled eggs, peppers, lots of melted cheese, lettuce and tomatoes with a side of fries. Some people may find their menu a bit pricey but with the quality of the food and greet service, you won’t regret it.

Sabores brings mastery over meat to BuHi without the pretentiousness of Argentine asados; it is a must-do experience for all types of carne lovers. I did a year as a vegan and since I don’t eat red meat often. So when I do, I want it to be exceptional; Sabores delivers. We started the meal with provoleta, which is simply a type of savory provolone melted, topped with oregano, and served with bread baked fresh. Next, our group of three ordered the chivito de entraño. This is a plate that must be experienced to believe. You start with a layer of french fries. Next you add a perfectly seared skirt steak. Now, add a thick layer of salty ham. OK, now you add a layer of mozarella. Oh, we aren’t done yet, because now we are covering this with a fries egg. Surround the dish with the best potato salad you’ve ever tasted; garnish with some greens and tomato slices covered in mayo. Needless to say, plan to share the dish. We ended the meal with dessert from the in-house bakery — postre chajá, which is a type of light & airy, perfectly sweetened peach merengue cake. We will be back, and we will bring friends.

I have been searching for an Argentine restaurant and was so glad to find and visit this one based on its Unilocal reviews. I have been several times now and while the service is hit or miss, often on the slower side, the food is fantastic!

Second time coming here. The first time I got short ribs and rice– carry out. The food was amazing. Short ribs are well seasoned, moist, delicious and just on point. Here now 4 – 5 months later. Dining in this time. Unfortunately my food experience was not as great. I got the grilled meat platter for two. It was a lot of food. They do give huge portions. However the meat was not seasoned well at all. They don’t have good sauces to go with the meat. The meat overall was moist. The chicken and intestine are very good. Sausage was just okay. Biggest issue is that they don’t have good sauces to go with the meat. The jalapeño sauce was a joke. The potato salad was horrible, cold, dry and tasteless!!! The Cesar salad was just okay. The empanadas were just okay also. Not very tasty. Service was great. We had a very attentive waitress, who was kind, checked on us periodically. I unfortunately won’t come back except maybe for take out and I will stick with the short ribs. Before I forget, ATLians please stop rating on Unilocal… Your rating cannot be trusted. EVER!!!

All i have to say about this placeis that they served us Chimichurri made with dry parsley and canola oil. The gauchos in the pampas must be revolting to know how badly their home food is being made here…

Ordered the Chivito plate, which is a hungry man’s meat lovers dream. The plate is large and is actually enough for two servings. The garden salad and the potato salad are placed on each edge of the plate. The middle is where the fun begins. The fries are the foundation of this layered dish. A thinly sliced well seasoned grilled steak rests on the fries. The steak is covered, a slice of ham which is covered with melted mozzarella cheese, a slice of bacon, topped with a medium cooked fried egg. The food was simply delicious. The potato salad is not your mama’s southern style potato salad but it compliments the dish well. All of this food for $ 13.99. Another excellent ethnic restaurant on the Buford Hwy corridor.

«Too bad, she said she doesn’t want you here when she gets back because you’ve been ruining everybody’s lives and eating all our steak.» — Napoleon Dynamite(2004) What a great little South America restaurant OTP on Buford Highway. Named«Flavors of the Plata» — this restaurant specializes in the food of Uruguay and Argentina, the two South American countries separated by the Plata River. Sorry for the lesson, but I had to look this up to understand the name of the restaurant. We came here to welcome a friend back from a long(and beef-deprived) trip out of the country. The menu is a little hard to navigate at first, but once you really read it through and talk to the server(Andrea was ours), I figured out what I wanted(by the way, Unilocalers photos helped me make decisions too). I knew I wanted one of the grilled beef dishes — the problem was which one. Now to start, I opted for the Queso Provolone. You’ll need to look at my picture to get a good idea of what I am about to describe. Picture a enameled dish, with little divots for tiny deviled eggs. Now instead of putting eggs in there, instead put in cubes of provolone cheese and put that puppy on a hot grill or flat top. What you end up with this gooey, melty cheese which is crispy and caramely(yes, that is a word in my book) on the bottom. They bring you baskets of rolls that you can tear apart and dip into these little luscious caverns and come out with these cheesy nuggets. I was in heaven! I landed on the Churrasco(options of 8 or 16oz) and opted for the mixed veggies for my side dish. But because I am me, I also ordered a link of the Chorizo, because, well pork and pork fat rules all. I asked for medium rare — now I was forewarned by one of my 8 dining mates that they tend to cook 1 temperature less than what you order — and she was right. It came more to the rare side of mid-rare. I was actually okay with that, but you should take note. The meat was succulent, juicy and very well seasoned. I only ate half of it as I ordered the 16 ounces on purpose to have left overs. Lucky for me, another dining mate couldn’t eat all her veggies — so I had plenty of veggies to bring home with me as well — broccoli(with stems), cauliflower and carrots. Also well seasoned, not over cooked and slightly roasted. For dessert — I decided I needed something sweet after all that meat(that’s what she said) — so I decided on the dulce du leche crepes. With an order, you get 2 crepes, filled with dulce du leche, rolled and then topped with sugar and torched. Delicioso! I only had room for one — so lucky me brought the other one home as well. As for service, it was lacking. We had better service at the beginning before a few other tables came in. By the time we ordered our food and it was time to come out of the kitchen, it came out in waves. Some of us got our food very quickly, while others had to wait for some time longer. By the time desserts were ordered, there were mixups(I ordered coffee and it never came, one dessert was super late, a to-go order was missed and my dessert ended up on the wrong check). I felt for Andrea as she seemed to be the only person working(server) and it wouldn’t surprise me if she was cooking in the kitchen as well. Although, she did replace my sweet tea order with lemonade after I tasted it and it was terrible(not brewed, from a can, so blech). Overall, I think 3.5 stars might be more appropriate, but slow service really killed them — and I had even called ahead to warn them of a larger party and what time we would be there. I would go again, but my expectations are better set for how long dinner will take.

Friendly service and tasty steaks, is how I would describe this restaurant. Nine of us piled in on a Monday evening. It’s a fairly small place but felt large as it was basically empty. There was only one table occupied when we arrived. I thought the menu was a little strange. A lot of non-South American dishes. Or at least things I wouldn’t expect: gnocchi, chicken nuggets, burgers, etc. Plus, two out of three beer options were not available. Andrea, our server, was very friendly and sweet, though a few times she tried to go by memory and handed out dishes to the wrong people. The food is obviously made to order as it is very fresh tasting and your table’s orders come out scattered and slower than you’d expect. I ordered a beef empanada, which is almost always a good choice, and I was not disappointed. You get just one flaky meat-pastry for $ 1.99 but it is stuffed with tastiness and just satisfying enough to get your appetite rolling. I then ordered the Vascia, which is a flank steak, and veggies(broccoli, carrots, cauliflower) as my side for about $ 10. I asked for it medium, and it came out just that way. It was juicy and flavored well, though could have been a tad less chewy — that was probably my ‘bad’ for not asking for med rare. However, I enjoyed it and finished every bite of steak, and sent my veggie leftovers home with a friend because I was too full. When it was dessert time, a few of us ordered coffee and flan or crepes. Again, there were a few small mixups, and a missing coffee for a friend. I got my coffee, though, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Not sure if it is normally served this way in this South American restaurant, but I thought it was a bit thick, bitter and burnt. Three creams did not help. Throughout the meal two or three other tables were sat, and we may have set their normal flow off kilter a bit, as service became a little slow and my water wasn’t refilled. Although I don’t see myself necessarily going out of my way to return — and I’m struggling between 3 and 4 stars — ultimately, this place deserves 4 stars for a good steak value and welcoming, friendly service. If you’re in the area and asked me where to go, I’d say give it a try.

Sabores surprised me. It’s a hidden gem amongst the Hispanic stores. I didn’t expect it to be any good. They have quality fresh foods here. I could tell by the side salad that I had. It was fresh and crisp. I was really surprised at how good and tasty their flank steak was. It was really soft and tender. Price points are decent.

I was introduced to this place about three years ago, I remember being quite the skeptic about coming to Sabores Del Plata, but now it’s one of my favorite restaurants — and I love taking newcomers. This place is better than most steakhouses — there’s so much variety, and for the price, so much food. Quality food. The customer service is always great, and the food comes out fairly quickly. They also serve complimentary bread rolls prior to your order coming out. Whenever I’m here, I order either the Tabla Del Plata or Tabla Del Plata II appetizers — they’re essentially the same thing, except I think the first one comes with olives and peanuts. What it is, is a mini array of chorizo, blood sausage, sliced bread, and a plate of spiced provolone cheese(just twist your fork in a circular motion to get the cheese out). You can use the components to make mini tea-esque sandwiches. It’s the best appetizer of any restaurant I’ve ever been to. Speaking of blood sausage, don’t let the name scare you, it’s not bloody in the slightest, and it’s so so good; super tender and flavorful. My favorite entrée is the Chivito al Pan. It’s a giant meat sandwich(made up of a beef filet, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, a hard boiled egg, and ham stuffed with mozarella cheese) also with a side of fries. It’s probably the best sandwich I’ve ever had. It’s quite a generous portion as well. They always cut into two, and I can only ever finish one. It’s a great bargain! I’ve also had their chicken salad, which is quite tasty and flavorful. I was a bit surprised by how traditional it was, as most of their entrees have a South American twist on it. It’s a solid dish if you’re ready to try the blood sausage just yet.

As I was enjoying my recent meal here, I was thinking this was a four star spot. But upon reflection, I cannot think of a single aspect of my experience that did not meet(meat?) or exceed my expectations. Sure, you need to walk into this joint with level set expectations for bargain priced grilled meats in a setting with all the ambiance a Buford Highway strip mall can offer. But with those expectations in place, Sabores is certainly as good as it gets. I sampled: Bread, complimentary: At the tip of our server, we asked for extra chimichurri sauce in which to dip our hot, housemade white bread. Yum. Empanadas, both beef and ham & cheese: These fat, savory pastries were perfectly deep fried and crispy. Though both flavors were good, something magical happens when you deep fry cheese, and it happened in the ham empanada. More chimichurri sauce for dipping was the icing on our figurative empanada cake. Vacio: This generous portion of flank steak(I’d guestimate around 10oz) was cooked just a hare below my requested medium rare, but was so tender and well seasoned that I didn’t mind. I chose the green salad as my side, which was a simple pile of incredibly fresh green leaf lettuce, thinly sliced sweet onions, and some of the most juicy tomatoes I’ve sampled this summer. At $ 11 for a giant steak dinner that could have easily been two meals, this is an incredible value. Flan with dulce de leche: I’m not a huge flan fan(try saying that ten times fast), but the spoonfuls of rich, creamy dulce de leche really set this dish apart from other flans I’ve tried. Crepes with dulce de leche: This is a must order. The crepes are rolled around more of that sinful dulce de leche, before being sprinkled with sugar and put under the broiler for just a moment. The sensation and taste of the crisp, sugared crêpe and the hot, rich dulce is perfection. I also stole tastes of the blood sausage and grilled chicken, both of which were very flavorful and well prepared. My dining companions for the evening also appreciated the reasonably priced wine list, from which they selected a well received bottle of red for just $ 15. Service was attentive, helpful, and our waitress spoke English perfectly. While the rain snarled traffic made getting here during rush hour quite the trip, it was worth the drive and a place I look forward to returning for cheap meat.

I think I have gone to Sabores del Plata on at least 4 occasions. I’m guessing it’s more actually. And it grows on me each time. The food is a little expensive when you compare it to other Latin cuisines, but doing an apple-to-apple analysis of the place with American steakhouses, it is a downright good deal. Bread rolls are served before food comes out and bf always gets the churrasco, which is always delicious. His sides of choice are either mashed potatoes or french fries, both of which he has enjoyed here. The last time we were here, I got the Bandeja de Plata, which consisted of beef and chicken. A salad accompanied my proteins. Service is great and we have been taken care of by the same nice young lady several times. We love her Argentinean Spanish and her sweet demeanor and were talked into getting their special dessert, the Chaja, which is a flaky dessert layered with meringue, caramel, and peaches. Though it wasn’t my favorite dessert ever, it was good and bf and I finished it. I stop by once in a while to pick up pastries in the case on the wall right outside the kitchen entrance. My favorites are the facturas de dulce de leche. They are fluffy small horns filled with dulce de leche, which is different from American caramel. There are not many Argentine restaurants to eat at in the metro Atlanta area and this one fills the void.

I had the pleasure to come here for a Daniel B. BuHi UYE. So glad I made it. And this one was a wee bit closer to home than most of the other places(damn us OTP Unilocalers). A South American meat factory(it might as well be, with ties to Argentina and Uruguay), this place is a carnivores dream. When you walk in, the décor is definitely 3 star, but I’m not here for that– I am here to eat some meat! The night we came, we pretty much had the place to ourselves(however, it got noticeably more crowded as the night progressed). The menu is large(2sided), with just about any beef combo you can think of. Hell, for $ 31, you can get a mountain of meat(don’t believe me? look at the pics) — where it says it feeds 2, but trust me, you could feed a small family with it! I wasn’t in the mood for blood sausage and intestines(some of the options included with it), so I stuck with a skirt steak with ham, cheese, fried egg, and bacon(last thing on the menu, front page). If there was a steak that I knew would shave a year off my life, that would be it. It came with fries, a Russian Salad, and a salad. I could have done without the 2 salads, and the fries were ok. At least I got the fried eggs to top the steak. There was even dessert my mouth watered looking at them all night), but it was never offered, I was kind of sad. We were there for around 2 hours, and believe it or not, I didn’t get up once(what I am saying is, the seats were comfortable for my fat ADD ass) — even after having 3 beers(which they have a small selection of). If you want to impress your friends/girlfriend/coworkers with a 5 star atmosphere, this probably isn’t the place to come. If you want legit meat cooked the way the South Americans do it, this is surely a place to come. Mind you, this is a block SOUTH from Jimmy Carter on Buford Highway, on the east side of the road, can be easy to miss! Look for the 2 story red clay color lookin shopping center. Consider this review just shy of 4 stars.

Checked out Sabores del Plata with a dozen other Unilocalers for last night’s BuHi UYE( ). Sabores del Plata serves Uruguayan and Argentinian cuisine. What does this mean? Lots of meat! If you’re a meat lover, this is the place for you. Sabores del Plata is nestled in a small shopping center on the right-hand side of the road if traveling north on Buford Highway(OTP). It’s just south of Jimmy Carter. The restaurant atmosphere is casual. Just a bunch of four-person tables in a wide open space. Esteban, who I presume to be the owner/manager, took care of us. He combined several tables for our large group. At dinnertime, the interior was dimly lit and soccer games were played on the flatscreen TVs and broadcast through the sound system(so no music, just the game). Sabores serves just about every part of the cow. I think I just ate an entire cow for dinner. The meats are served in different forms and fashion such as hamburgers and sandwiches. They also serve pizza and pasta. The place on the menu to look, though, is the«Parrillada» — on the grill. This is where you can order each type of meat a la carte, off the grill. You can also split a giant meat platter, «Parrillada del Plata,» for $ 17.99(for one) or $ 30.99(for two). In my opinion, I think the platter for one can easily be split among two people and the platter for two can easily be split among 3 – 4 people. Something to consider before ordering. These platters are probably their most popular menu item. I split the Parrillada del Plata(for two) with a friend and we were surprised by how much meat we got. For $ 30.99, it seemed like a reasonable deal. The platter came with: Three beef short ribs Two sausages Two cuts of intestines Two cuts of sweetbreads(mixture of glands/organs) Two flank steaks Two seasoned chicken patties One blood sausage The platters come with two sides. The sides aren’t anything too special: fried eggs, salads, French fries, mashed potatoes, vegetables, rice, and Russian salad. I tried the mashed potatoes, vegetables, and Russian salad. Overall, I thought the Parrillada del Plata was very good. Each of the different cuts of meat were delicious, except for the chicken. I thought the chicken was too dry and not flavorful enough, even though it was seasoned. The short ribs were huge. They reminded me of Korean short ribs(galbi), but much, much meatier portions. The sausages were plump and savory. Softer than I expected on the inside. They were also quite hot — held the heat from the grill well. Speaking of which, all of the meat was served on top of a metal plate with hot coals at the bottom to keep the meat warm. The blood sausage may have been my(as well as others’) favorite. Too bad there was only one link per platter. The blood sausage reminded me of Asian blood sausage, but without as much tendon/texture. The inside of Sabores’ blood sausage is actually a bit mushy, but packed with seasonings and flavor. I also thoroughly enjoyed the intestines, sweetbreads, and flank steak. The intestines looked a little freaky, but were a nice change of pace from the rest of the meat. They were a bit rubbery and had that«liver-y» aftertaste. The taste of the sweetbreads was more subdued than I imagined. Unique consistency and very good. The flank steak surprised me, mainly for how tender and juicy it was. There are no sauces or seasonings for the meat, save for salt and pepper. I thought some of the meats could have used a sauce or more of a marinade, but that’s just me. The sides were OK at best. Nobody really liked the Russian Salad nor finished it. The mayo just tasted weird. Russian Salad is like potato salad with peas and carrots. It’s thick. The mixed vegetables were sauteed and seasoned and contained bell pepper, peas, cauliflower, and carrots. The mashed potatoes were smooth and tasty and probably my favorite of the sides. If the Parrillada del Plata is too much food, you can order one of the Churrasco plates, which come with a smaller, single serving of steak with a side. I tried one of these plates and the steak was thinly sliced, well-marinated and appetizing. Note: Staff recommends having the meats cooked more on the medium-well to well-done side, but we had our meats cooked closer to medium and it still tasted fine. Service was fine. Esteban seemed to be the only person manning the floor so it did take a while for us to get our checks. The food came out in reasonably timely fashion, however. In summary, Sabores del Plata = meat lovers’ paradise. BTW, I love their wall mural painting of Argentinian/Uruguayan famous people. Kudos to Tom E. for pointing out Manu Ginobili and I’m pretty sure the other basketball player was Luis Scola.
