So I took another chance with this place and I must say they did very well this time. Food tastes fresh and large amounts of food portions compared to previous times. This time I had the enchilada & taco plate not knowing that this time it came with 2 enchiladas and a taco as to the last time only one enchilada. Waitress said they updated their dinner portion. Others in my party ordered the huge asada torta which looked very good, the gordita which was a very good portion as well. Asked for additional salsas and must say the habanero salsa was very tasty and fresh. Waitress was. Wry good and overall I was gladly impressed this time.

Good food. Good service. No long waits. Chips and salsa = good, I like the seasoning in the salsa and it wasn’t spicy for all who prefer it that way. The hibiscus water/agua de jamaica was very good, fresh and not overly sweetened. Tried the fried ice cream and their peach fried burrito just for kicks, both were super good and really big so one is probably good for two people, we had to take ours home. I tried the camarones a la diabla, no complaints, they have a nice version of it with sauce of a creamy texture, not as spicy but some might consider otherwise, shrimp were peeled and that’s always a plus. Careful plates are really hot when they come out. Will def be back to try other menu items you don’t see to often in other places like pozole yum!

Nothing wrong with this spot for a quick Mexican meal. I’d say the menu leans towards a more traditional type of Mexican food. Not the watered down version you get at so many places. They serve their breakfast choices all day which I always appreciate. Tried the Huevos Rancheros with the chile relleno sauce(or choice of chile verde). Was good, served hot. Dad had Pazole Mom had a Chile Relleno. All of it looked good. Good and friendly service. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. Which is good since my parents eat here quite a bit, I’m told.

Not the best, but by far not the worst. Much better than big box generic places. Clean, open and bright family run style restaurant. Carnitas were a little bland but enchiladas were tasty. I’ll come back and venture down the menu next time. All the tables were almost filled up for lunch and I don’t mind waiting a little bit for a home cooked meal. I recommend it if you’re in the area.

Had dinner here on Monday night after a debacle at Miguel’s on Frontage Rd. After sitting for a while with no service I left and found this place on my way home. Decided to try it and glad I did. My order was taken promptly. I ordered their Tres Hermanos fajitas and they were really tasty. Lots of bell pepper and onion but I like them both so I didn’t mind. Prices are relatively reasonable compared to what I saw on Miguel’s menu. I paid $ 47 for a family of 4. This is a place I will definitely come back to again. I came on a Monday night so the crowds were extremely light.

Foods awesome. Service is a bit slow but the food makes up for it most of the time. Chili Verde is great. Good tamales.

My first time here. The food was good. I had the Calabasitas plate with beef. I also tried the Pozole. I would have preferred it to be a bit spicier, but overall it was good. I would order it again. The staff was friendly. The service was very good. And the restaurant was clean.

I had a terrible experience, the wait time was unforgivable. I waited 45 minutes for stone cold carnitas that were reminiscent of jerky. Unfortunately, the best thing here was the side salad that likely came out of a bag. I came in starving and could not even pretend to enjoy my tepid menudo. Just awful.

The only reason this restaurant is in business is because there is no formidable competition in the area. This restaurant would not survive in LA county. Somebody please open an AUTHENTIC Mexican food restaurant with AUTHENTIC custom Mexican service.

I loved this restaurant! I had the Doña Luisa’s wet chimichanga with a side of rice and beans and it tasted delicious! They offered my dad a salad before his meal and he noted that that was a huge plus! The waitress serving us was very friendly and returned to our table often to give us refills and bring more chips and salsa. I’ll definitely be returning!

17 mins and counting and the waitress has yet to ask for a refill. Plus we had to get up to get our own fork. Do you job people.

If you don’t mind the waiting game, this place is for you. The highlight of this place is the chips and salsa. It’s more like a cafeteria type place with no booths and no décor. It took awhile for them to notice me, yet they’re standing there in front of me. Finally, I was seated at a table close to where all the waitresses come out from the kitchen. I did not receive a menu or utensils and finally I got one, yet no one came back to take my order. I had to walk up and ask if they were going to take my order. They first brough me an Ice tea which was flat like water. Maybe they forgot the tea bags. Then I got soda instead which I’m trying hard to stay away from. But that took quite awhile for me to get as well and I never got a refill either. So after about another several minutes, I asked for wet burrito. That took about 10 minutes to get, but it was a regular burrito. So it took five more minutes to get their attention to tell them I got the wrong burrito and that I had wanted the wet burrito. Ooooooh boy, was that a mistake sending that back. I waited about ten minutes and went up and asked what happened to my meal. Then they brought out their masterpiece; a wet burrito with the sauce burnt into the plate. They had forgot about it and it had overcooked sauce on it, and the shredded beef inside was so dry. But I had to repeatedly ask for a fork and knife. That took awhile too. Then the bill. Had to go find them to get the bill. They asked me what I got? Geeeeze, you guys can’t remember what I got… seriously? Then… wait…wait…wait for them to write up the bill. Then when you go to pay your bill, a snooty small cashier is busy talking to the waitresses about all her events she had and how miserable she felt. Sure, hold up the people wanting to pay. Keep talking to the waitresses with your war stories and don’t worry… take your time with the patrons. It’s not like we don’t have someplace to be. You need to be more organized and on the ball in this place.

4.5 stars for this place. I have been going back and forth about trying this place. Decided to take the bull by the horns. Walked in on a quiet Saturday evening with one other family seated inside we had the choice of seating. The staff was busy with take out orders. Savannah, our server was phenomenal. Polite and attentive. She even gave me a remote control for a TV when I asked for a game to be played because nothing was showing. I thought it was awesome because it felt like home. They have dish network so took me a minute to figure out their system. They did get very busy about 15 minutes after we sat down. They may have been understaffed because they were running around like crazy managing take out and dine in patrons. When I asked for something it was taken care of and I did not feel rushed. Savannah was good at her job. We ordered a bunch of food bc I love trying everything. Wife did large bowl of pozole and the nachos speciales(barely ate half of them and I had a few). I had a small bowl of menudo, which I thought was delicious. I also ordered a nopales(cactus) burrito with carnitas; red and green sauce split 50⁄50. I would order again. I also had a chile relleno, a la carte. Tasted just like abuelitas, so that was important. I also had 3 modelos for less than $ 4 each. The chips and salsa are basically on a conveyer belt. They will keep coming unless you say no thanks. The only thing I would recommend is to offer tortillas with the pozole or menudo. We weren’t offered but I would have skipped on them anyways. Meal was inexpensive for all the food and left more than 20% tip. Can’t wait till next time. Happy eating!

Just okay certainly not what I was hoping for. Chile Verde Special burrito — a lot of tortilla and not a lot of meat. The chile verde was decent but not very tasty, eeds some kick. The salsa is very tomatoey. And needs some kick. The chips are just okay. I thought the albondiga soup was actually quite tasty. albondiga consistency was a bit weird though, maybe to much rice. Husband had the crispy taco. He thought it was okay, I’ve had better, but I agree, it was okay. I like the art on the walls and tables but it surprises me that some of them are crooked. The décor has potential, just needs that final attention to detail. We will try again. I am curious about the Birria and Pozole.

The food is good for your money’s worth. For $ 4.95 you can get a huge gordita, which will definitely fill you up. My husband chose the ground beef and I chose the chicken. The ground beef was tastier. He also got a ground beef taco and he said it was great. Very juicy! If you close your eye’s while your sitting there, you’ll think that you’re in Mexico. They play Mexican music at a perfect volume. The whole décor is quite colorful and nice… Day of the Dead decorations.

On our way back from Vegas we rolled into this gem as our stomachs were growling. As we Walked in a gentleman commented on his way out that«it’s as good as it looks.» I ordered a simple 2 taco combo plate, one beef and one chicken. Both meats were shredded just the way I like and both like Grandma used to make. It also came with albondiga soup which was also like grandma used to make. The side salsa is not your typical pico de gallo. It was more of a blended chili sauce and very good. Glad we found a «go to» place if we are ever in IE and craving Mexican food.

I heard from family that this place has the best menudo. Being that I’m not a big fan of menudo I decided to try chilaquiles and some albondigas soup. The service took longer then I was hoping for and our server did her best but it seemed like asking for utensils was part of the norm. This place is clean. The bathrooms were kept very clean The price of food is affordable, but it lacked the flavor I was hoping for! There carne asada seemed really plain and dry., I was not at all impressed. I guess since I’m not a fan of menudo me and this place won’t be good friends

I feel the need to update my review. The service here is getting shakier and shakier with each passing day. It appears they have more than enough servers on the floor it seems to be the kitchen can’t get the food out correctly or timely. It always concerns me when they told me be careful the plate is extremely hot. Often times that means my food his sat under a heat lamp or heating element for a period of time. I know some restaurants stick the entire meal under heating element on the plate provide that extra bit of warmth. There doesn’t seem to be consistency either in the food. Someday the portions are large somedays they’re smaller and taste different each time. It really appears this is supposed to be a walk in order at the counter sit down type place that they are trying to turn into a restaurant. Unless the service gets better within the next visit or two I think our days coming here are numbered. How I wish they would get their act together. I so dislike On the Border. But I am one who prefers excellent service to always looking for someone to refill my drink or get more chips for me.
