I’m not sure why everyone loves this place. It’s basically fried chicken tender and fries and that’s about it. They screwed up every part of our order and when they finally got it to us is was edible but that’s about all I can say.

A few weeks ago I randomly got a notification on Facebook about how Mcdougal’s on Nolensville had changed their name to Outlanders Southern Chicken. Does this mean it’s no longer a McDougals? Did someone buy it & change the name? I’m not sure of the specifics, but it looks like someone bought the restaurant, changed the name but still sell most of the same food items. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. The place was PACKED. I never came to this location when it was McDougal’s, but I’ve ate at the location off 21st avenue & it looks the same. Lots of stuff on the walls, tables with paper towel rolls in the middle. If you’ve been to the McDougals before, you’ll be used to this setup along with the menu. I picked the 5 chicken fingers for $ 9.99. A better price than the 21st Ave location. It used to be 8.99 there, then they raised it to 11.99, took away the free water option & the free birthday dinner, Vanderblit discount. I won’t go there anymore. The five fingers comes with an order of fries, a piece of thick toast and 3 dipping sauces. I picked 2 blue cheese and one of the outlanders sauce. I wouldn’t get the blue cheese again because it was very runny, I didn’t care for it at all. The outlander sauce was good though. You can get them tossed in one of 5 or 6 sauces. I did fried chicken tossed in thunderbird sauce. It’s their version of a spicier buffalo sauce. I like spicy & I found it to be rather spicy. You can get the fries loaded with cheese and bacon. The bacon is good but the cheese is just that cheese topping stuff that they serve with concession nachos, not my favorite. I liked the fries better plain with the seasoning they put on there. I got the water from the drink fountain & it tasted a little off. Kind of tasted like water from a garden hose, hard to explain but next time I won’t be cheap & get a soft drink. Phillip said the tea wasn’t that great, I don’t drink tea but he’s kind of a connoisseur of the stuff. We are out on the patio. The seating inside & on the patio is tight. If you sit near the front door, be forwarded that it bangs loudly whenever it closes. Overall I liked the chicken & fries. It’s just like McDougal’s was, just with a new name. I’d stop by here if I was in the area.

Outlanders is one of our favorite places to eat in Nolensville. Awesome chicken, great sauces, always fresh. I’m a big fan of their fried tenders tossed in honey boom boom sauce. Their Cali-Gold and Chipotle Lime sauces are also fantastic. With their new name/brand they have a ton of options on the menu to satisfy anyone. Highly recommend!
