A quaint little cottage with plenty for breakfast at reasonable pricing. Friendly service as well.

LOVED the variety of breakfast outside the norm. Yes, there is the normal breakfast items, but if you are looking for a creative lunch, like salmon cakes with homemade hollandaise sauce or quiche Lorraine perfectly flaky for one, then come here. They do have some outdoor seating, but the novelty is the random colorful seating inside with the creative floral artwork. This is a small spot so if you have a big crowd, plan on waiting. This is the second location, for the original Breakfast House is in Sarasota on Fruitville Road and is also perfect.

Initially drove by a couple of times before looking into. Boy, so glad I did! It’s a little gem in Nokomis, very close to Venice. Service is great! The owner is a working owner and very personally in ensuring things are running smooth and customers are fully satisfied. The good is superb! We had the eggs Benedict with corn beef hash and with smoked salmon – both excellent choices! Coffee is locally toasted and ground on site. Yum! The décor is happy and full of life. No one can be in a bad mood in a place like this – it’s simply delightful! Must visit!

Found this place for the first time today. Loved it. Gray food, excellent service, and the owner spent several minutes talking to us as well. Very good coffee, which is their own special blend from a local place. Cute atmosphere that is very bright and cheery too.

We went 2 days in a row! Tracey was our server was very sweet! We had the Monte Cristo, Eggs Benedict and Stuffed French Toast. Our table also tried the Island caked with grilled pineapple. Outstanding! Also fresh O.J. and great iced tea!

Great outdoor patio! I had the chicken salad croissant with a side of fruit. Very yummy and flavorful. The food is served with an edible flower and every plate I saw at neighboring tables looked delicious as well. Great choice for breakfast or a light lunch.

Yes, the exterior and interior of the place are quite colorful, hostess and waitress friendly and welcoming, but my friend and I were definitely NOT impressed with the food, or the price thereof. He ordered corned beef hash with 3 eggs and I opted for the Original Plus, which consisted of 2 eggs, biscuit and potatoes. We both ordered our eggs OVEREASY and were disappointed that they were a bit overcooked. My friend asked me to taste the corned beef hash since he said it tasted«weird», and I had to agree, could not quite put my finger on why or wherefore, but it was definitely NOT good corned beef hash. Not impressed, so I do NOTRECOMMEND — to each his own, I guess.

Great breakfast and lunch. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly. Clean and cheerful décor. I had grilled chicken over ceasar salad. Fresh and light dressing. Big poetions.

Excellent choice for breakfast. They’ll welcome you at the door and make you feel at home. The service is superb. If the weather is good, take advantage of deck seating under the big oak tree. The Eggs Benedict corned beef hash is wonderful — homemade hollandaise over very tasty owned beef is a dance in the mouth. I had the potatoes covered with pepper jack just for good measure. Over the top delicious and I’m sure it was zero calorie.

I’m a snow bird who loved the Nokomis Breakfast House. Unfortunately, when I returned in November I discovered that the restaurant had been sold and is now the Breakfast Cottage. Had breakfast there — it was ok but nothing like the Breakfast House. A few weeks later I went to the original Breakfast House on Fruitville Road in Sarasota. Excellent food as always. Spoke with waitress who was the owners daughter. She said it became too hard to keep both and that’s why her mother sold the Nokomis restaurant. She did say that the new staff was trained for 6 months and given many recipes. I guess they wanted to put their own stamp on the place. It looks the same but I don’t think the food is as good. It’s not bad, just not up to the Breakfast House standards. Treat yourself and take a ride up to 1817 Fruitville Road. You won’t be sorry.

Perfect breakfast atmosphere. The entire staff is welcoming and friendly. It’s bright, fresh and love the outdoor seating, like sitting on a porch. Service was prompt and accurate. And the food, oh so good. Fresh, tasty and perfectly proportioned. Had the vegetable quiche which was to die for. The crust was perfect combo of buttery and flaky, not overcooked(like many mini-pies can be) and not undercooked either, just pure deliciousness. And the breakfast potatoes were soo good. Bottomless hot coffee too. Will definitely go again next time in the area.

One of our best lunches in a long time. Went at 1:00 on a beautiful Sunday, so we had to wait half an hour; but it was worth it. Four of us had the French Dip and agreed that it was the best one we had ever had. Be sure to get a basket of the mixed mini-scones.

This place is adorable. Okay– a little too adorable– the décor is a bit like being in a 7 year old girls Barbies restaurant– brightly colored high back chairs, custard yellow walls, pink, yellow and purple glass vases each with a fake colorful flower… very bright and cheery! You can’t help but be happy there. The wait staff is very professional and friendly. The food is delish. We had breakfast two days in a row. High quality bacon, eggs cooked perfectly, yummy pancakes for the kid(with real maple syrup), corn beef hash very good, oatmeal lovely, nice choices for tea. Service was great. Outdoor and indoor seating. 5 stars for sure.

This is a clean, adorable, friendly place with great food! Service was quick and personable, the food was fixed perfectly, and the patio seating serene. I came here because I heard they had gluten-free French toast and I am ecstatic at how good it was! It’s been FIVE years since I got to have French toast — what a treat! From now on, I am a regular customer because I love this place!

Great place to bring the wife, really quiet place to get some fresh air and good food. The inside was a little cold because of the a/c(it was 78 degrees outside). We sat under a tree outside and when we found out our lemonade and mango ice tea had free refills we were just happy. The place looks a little old so don’t get your hopes up on the looks but it gives you a country vibe. Now to the important part the food(I got the healthy omelette and my wife got the house specialty island cakes. They were both amazingly tasty. The server was great as well.

I was super disappointed in my whole experience at Nokomis Breakfast House. I am in town visiting my parents and they had seen the rave reviews from Judi Gallagher’s show and wanted to try the place out. We arrived a bit before 11 and got the shrimp and grits and the special omelette(salmon, cream cheese, capers, and dill sauce). The food took an extraordinarily long time to come out, during which we had to ask for refills on coffee. When the food did come out, my omelette was missing both the sauce and capers. They added the sauce, but informed me they were out of capers. The food was only ok, and definitely not worth the price. The owner flitted around the restaurant, seeming to cause more chaos then help. She brought our food out and didn’t even notice my omelette had no sauce and is the one who recommended the omelette but forgot they were out if capers.
