Okay so to start the server sucked. I mean she was hardly around she took over 20 min to grab our drinks. Our first initial drinks that is. She didn’t Keep up on refills. She acted as though our being there for food was an inconvenience. When we got our food it was gross she also had an attitude when the guy I was with who ordered said I’m sorry but I don’t think this is right and instead of being polite and correcting him that it was right she was like no that’s what’s you ordered that’s right. Just rude with a rude tone. It was just a bad experience. And the food wasn’t even good.

The food was very good. Had the fried shrimp and scallops and they were not soaked in oil which is great. The service was excellent. The only problem and this is a big problem is that we ate inside because we wanted to be cool and it was extremely hot(sweltering) as the door is open and there is no air conditioning that you could feel where we sat. We were sitting at a waterside table with a great view. Maybe you need to sit further inside where there is no view for comfort. The menu could be a bit more diverse. I would go back again when the weather is cooler. Great waitress.

Not all its cracked up to be. Went there on a Friday night. It was packed which is great. Asked for and indoor table because we wanted to look at the water but be in the air conditioning. My fiancé and I were dressed nicely for a graduation afterwards and didn’t want to get all sweaty beforehand. Little did we know that once inside, it would be hotter than it would have been outside. There was no circulation at all and it made the environment miserable. It made eating our meals a very uncomfortable experience. As for the food, I had the fried shrimp basket. It was good but nothing amazing to mention. And my fiancé got the all-you-can-eat fish and chips. However, he thought the fish tasted bad and didn’t finish what he had on the first plate. Needless to say, he didn’t use the«all-you-can-eat» in the least. Sad to say I had high hopes for this place and was extremely disappointed.

This was a great find for us, although based on how busy it was for Sunday late lunch I would say this is really a popular local place. Eating, with views of the inter coastal in south Florida is always nice. The fact our kids could walk out on the dock and look at the fish etc was a great time killer for kids. We ordered a meal to share that was steamed shrimp and oysters that was served in an old school metal bucket. They sat on boiled potatoes, carrots Italian sausage which was a great touch. It is more than enough for two to eat and we both left satisfied. It was approx $ 30 so $ 15 each. Well served, great taste, happy campers

Nothing but good things to say about this place. Fun waterside location. The birds land on the roof, railing and tables and are fun to watch. So is the boat traffic. The food was very good. Portions are generous. The beer was cold. The service was efficient. We were not rushed in any way. My wife’s vodka tonic left something to be desired, which I why I stick with beer in grills like this. My guess is if she would have told our waiter it would have been taken care of. We were seated immediately on a Sunday night, but I can understand why there may be a «wait» during season.

We went for lunch one day and dinner one evening while on vacation. I had coconut and buffalo shrimp and my husband has the Bahama Mama burger. It was all very good followed by key lime pie for dessert. Great atmosphere and cheap drinks!

Great location. I mean GREAT. Go there just for the view and/or outside fire seating. The food is fairly average and a bit over priced. The frozen drinks were good and a pod price, though. All in all, come for the amazing atmosphere and tolerate the so-so food.

The steamer dinners are unreal! The most flavorful dinner we have ever eaten that had no spices or sauces on it! Just pure great shrimp, lobster and the fixins that come with it! A must have!

This is a nice place, on the water, for a lunch. We arrived and were seated immediately at a table with a view of the water. The setting is nothing fancy, but it is comfortable. The service was good. The food was good. It was easy to talk with friends. This is not a «special» place, but it is a good place to go for a meal on a nice day.

Really good food, great service, and a nice view! We went for lunch, hit Nokomis Beach, and then returned for dinner. For lunch we ate on the outside patio which has a nice view of the water. For dinner we ate on the courtyard with the table with the firepit. Great atmosphere! The food was very good. We tried coconut shrimp, rice and beans, the Mahi platter, the Mixed Grill and two of the burgers. Everything except the Mac n’ Cheese was delicious. The drinks were good as well.

We recently spent four days in the Sarasota, Florida area, which we’re considering as our next place to move. The long LONG cold winters in central Oregon have lost their luster, and we long for a warmer year-round climate. And it was during a cruise around the Nokomis /Venice area that we ran into Pop’s Sunset Grill, which sits right off the intracoastal waterway, in Nokomis. We were«joined» by a black crowned night heron, who sat perched on a wood piling that was part of the deck structure. This guy was amazingly tame, and sat there and watched the patrons having their lunches, maybe five feet away from us. Our lunches were perfect, and totally hit the spot. Courtney, our server, recommended the grouper sandwich for my wife, and it was a huge hit, both size and taste-wise. My burger was also amazing, and the two recommended beers totally hit the spot. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s not intended to be. It’s a casual lunch and dinner restaurant, right on the water, in an amazingly beautiful setting. The food is honest, the prices were fair, and if you are lucky enough to have Courtney as your server, you can’t go wrong. Highly recommended.

Love this place! When I told my landlord that my friends and I were going to be visiting this area for the weekend the first words out of his mouth were, «you must go to Pop’s». So on our first night there we walked over and were quickly seated outside right on the water. I think it worked to our advantage that we got there a little earlier than most, around 4 o’clock, because as we were leaving there was a line way out the door; people were waiting everywhere and the parking lot was packed full. Starting with the drinks, they make an amazing rum runner. My friends had some other drinks but I don’t remember what they were, one just had beer(boring). I started out with one of their specials which was a crab and corn chowder which was very tasty, I would’ve added a little more salt to it and I did but otherwise it was perfect. For our entrées several people thought about the grouper Reuben but changed their minds when they found out that the fish was frozen and not fresh. However, I had a sense of adventure and thought I’d give it a try anyway since it’s listed as their top menu favorites. I was not disappointed. The sandwich was amazingly delicious even if the fish was frozen. My friends all opted for something else that had fresh seafood which they said was very good but the portions were also very small. They all ended up helping me finish my sandwich that I couldn’t finish and finishing my fries for me. None of us had room left for desserts, so we may have to go back on our next trip. Service was friendly fast and prices were reasonable. And for the view, sitting right there on the water watching the pelicans roost and the boats go by cannot be beat.

The waitress was not the greatest. Ordered nachos they tasted like gas station nachos. Ordered a flat bread margarita pizza that tasted like bagel bites the sauce was bad and they just ploped a tomato on top. Got the portabello mushroom sandwich and that was really really good

SHETOSSEDHERSTRAWBERRYDAIQUIRIATHERGRANDDAUGHTER Overall, I’d recommend this place to most people. Nice food, good fries, and a unique atmosphere. Everything about this place is seemingly above expectations but even the nicest of places can take an unpleasant turn. One time a folk band was playing here and an elderly woman LOSTIT. She ran out to the crowded dance floor and started STOMPING as hard as she could. Her mouth opened up and she started screeching as she smiled. She then made flicking motions with her hands and feet and then did what I cannot fully describe. I watched in complete shock she threw her orthopedic shoes at the bar, she then carelessly tossed her strawberry daiquiri at her granddaughter and contorted her body in ways only the sickest of people could dream up. The dance floor cleared faster than the retirement residents durning hurricane season. Her«dance» issued an unspoken but mandatory evacuation. She was a true natural disaster and she couldn’t be stopped. Her motions truly horrifying. She was anything but graceful as she shut her eyes tightly and swayed violently to the gentle music. I needed a miracle to save me from something this devastating. The music shortly stopped I thought I had been saved at last. I WASWRONG. She continued dancing even faster and more violently to the silence that she had created. The silence was her JAM. This was her true time to shine. She twirled her head and arms around rapidly in a curricular motion and she softly moved her feet. It was quite a contrast. Her infamous dance that only she enjoyed soon looked more like a tantrum than anything else. I thought it was never going to end, but again I WASWRONG. At last the human hurricane in the form of an old lady softly sunk to the ground. She laid still for a good 5 minutes and then shot both of her legs in the air, which was her way of saying goodbye. She got up and located her daiquiri covered granddaughter and departed into the sunset crying tears of joy. I never saw her again and perhaps I never will, but be warned she is at large and probably ripping up an innocent dance floor at this very moment.

This was the first spot we dined while on vaca in Nokomis. Had a great time! The food was very good, I had the Grouper Ruben and sweet potato fries, all cooked perfectly and the fish was perfect. Our group also had the mahi, blackened and grilled. Nice selection of beers too. Our table was right on the canal and got to see some dolphins breaching right at the table along with several exotic birds like cranes and egrets while fisherman casting from the shore pulled some very large pufferfish out of the canal.

Pop’s is one of those places to go but not during season! It gets crazy crowded. A typical old Florida dive that we like to frequent for a sunset view and burger. Bustling, loud, good music, even better view, and their food is fine. Pop’s will always be a favorite of ours!

This place is absolutely amazing. The look of this place is really awesome. They have these really awesome fire pit tables that you can sit around and eat and drink. It’s so cool, being from NY I’ve never seen anything like this. The calamari was good, perfectly cooked and a pretty big portion. For dinner I ordered the chicken quesadilla, pretty basic but it was amazing! My soon to be mother in law ordered the nachos, the presentation was beautiful. She really enjoyed them. My fiancé and soon to be father in law ordered the huge steam pot to share. It had so many things in it, corn, sausage, potatoes, onion and then a choice of two seafood options, they picked shrimp and mussels. They chowed down and went to town. They said it was amazing. It was truly a site. The service was friendly and fast as well :) This has been one of the best experiences eating out this vacation! Must go here!

Pop’s Sunset Grill liegt wirklich sehr schön. Man hat einen traumhaften Blick auf Casey Key. Das Essen ist durchschnittlich, der Fisch ok, der Service freundlich, die Preise etwas zu hoch.
