Went from 24⁄7 to open 6 am to midnight with no warning. Guess now I need to find another 24⁄7 grocery

Running into a grocery store to got a couple of items isn’t always as simple as it seems, but this one is probably one of the worst to run into. The set up of the store is so whacked. Not a typical grocery set up. And I’ve never had a quick check out, no matter what time of day I’ve gone, and there has never been an express lane open. Typically one or two registers are open when I’ve «run» in, there’s always a line. Today was no exception and the cashier told the gentleman in front of me his card was declined. He ran it again and was on his way. I go to pay and my debit card was declined*. I ran it again, as a credit card the second time and no problem. Weird. *On a side note, I ran that same debit card at a Kroger two hours later and it wasn’t declined. I think it’s Marsh having an error.

Although I’ve been here a lot I still get confused on where things are. I think the prices a little hight for grocery shopping but as far as picking up a few items here and there isn’t bad.

So while I am in line waiting for a burrito, I am going to review this Marsh. I live super close and this is equal distance from me as the Food only Wal-Mart in Fishers. Obviously(I think everyone knows), marsh is indianapolis’s version of St. Louis’s Dierbergs. IE it is the overpriced home grown chain in town. However? I stuck with Marsh despite living equal distance from a MUCH cheaper counterpart. The layout(wagon wheel) has never bothered me. The staff always seemed pleasant — never went out of their way to help me(actually sent me in the wrong direction once), but pleasant. Parking is easy(despite complaints). So you name it and I have bought it here. Flowers. Balloons. Food. Pet toys. Cleaning supplies. Etc. So why two stars? Well, it would have been four stars prior to my last visit which I know will make me never go back. I know I shouldn’t let one bad experience impact me, but it killed the place in my eyes and I almost wrote them a letter. I was shopping earlier in the morning. Had a basket full of goodies. Was walking towards the checkout and a heavier set woman with short blonde hair was leaning over the counter(where the cigarettes are — whatever that counter to the right of the registers is) talking to another employee(she was an employee too) and I notice her staring at me. I think to myself that’s weird. Then I notice her point to me and start to hear her talking about me and what I am wearing to that male employee. Unkind things to say the least. Things about how she can’t believe someone would wear something like that out in public. The checkout lady noticed I noticed(I looked at them) and even commented that people can be rude. What was I wearing? Leather skinnies with an oversized sweater tunic from River Island(picked up in England) that says, «Love is for losers» I was so mad. Maybe it’s because I work at an eating disorder clinic and clients sometimes say that they feel judged in grocery stores by employees. I always felt there wasn’t truth to that feeling, but Marsh proved me wrong. I get I live in Suburbia when in Fishers(unlike my city apartment in St. Louis I will be glad to be back to tomorrow), but rudeness is rudeness no matter where you live. And lady at the counter(who I hope I described sufficiently for Marsh if they read this) was incredibly rude and made my shopping uncomfortable. Part of me now wants to start a fashion blog in hopes that she will read it. Wear what you want. Not what some lady at Marsh thinks you should

I am just going to take the mystery out of anyone’s mind. You are NOT going to get a good parking space. Unless you are disabled and or have a toddler. You know why? They DESIGNEDITTHATWAY. Seriously, how many disabled people can you even fit in the store. So now I walk in. I am smacked in the face with the weird odor of grocery store flowers. They don’t even pump in yummy bakery smells. Probably because there is nothing fresh in that«bakery.» At this point, you’ve walked in, gotten either a giant grocery cart or a basket. They don’t have that middle size thing yet. Welcome to the worst produce setup ever. Unless there are sweet potatoes in every aisle, I think I was walking in a circle. To be fair, they do have some nice things in season, for example blood oranges. WAY too hard to find what you need. You now have a choice, sort of like a board game. You can go through the maze of the middle(don’t do it!!!) or you can circle one of the pretend«shops.» It’s getting really frustrating at this point. By now, I should probably have the three items I went in for, right? Not so fast, buster. We are going to make you WORK for it. NOTHING is where you would expect it. Why are there eggs in the butcher area? Ohh. next to the bacon. Ummm, seriously? There are apparently also eggs in the«dairy.» The one star is for the lovely checkout people. If I could break it out, I would give them five stars. I have never met an unpleasant checker there. I suspect that they give them Prozac in their water, because I have also not ever gone there without hearing someone(very like myself) complaining about the frustration of shopping there. Bless their hearts. Well, thanks for overpaying for your groceries, and in case you forgot, your car is in east outer nowhere. Oh yeah… and I am echoing Sean H. The small baskets are truly disgusting.

This«circle» or wagon wheel type marsh is hard to get used to at first but once you do you will hate to go back to a traditional layout store. The meat is great here and the produce is always pretty good. The biggest thing i dislike and it seems rampant in all Marshes are the small red baskets are always FILTHY i don’t think they ever wash them, ever. they are disgusting. so i always just use a cart now matter what I’m getting.

I have to say, I’m impressed. Now, the objection I hear from people is that the new layout actually makes shopping longer as you have to run from section to section if you forget something. This is true and is the negative about a partitioned grocery store. Here’s the thing though, this store looks fabulous. Every section is clean, decorated nicely, and really fun to walk through. If I were into shopping at higher end grocery stores, this would be my first choice. As it stands, I go for cheaper prices, so Walmart is my jam. But seriously, this is one of the coolest shopping centers I’ve ever been in.

Very different layout than the other Marsh stores on the NE side. Can be confusing finding what you need at first but still the same quality you would expect. Has more of a Whole Foods feel to it if that helps… but I don’t know that the merchandise varies from other stores.

This Marsh is weird. It has a circular(or hexagon) layout that makes it less than intuitive to find what you’re looking for. It looks great, but makes shopping complicated until you figure out where things are.
