The somewhat dated décor doesn’t distract from the excellent sushi selection. Extremely fresh rolls and a wide variety. Excellent tempura. The warm green tea perfectly compliments the sushi. Pleasant staff and very clean setting. There is also a selection of cooked Chinese and Japanese dishes that are popular for those who don’t care for sushi. Great place we have visited again and again.

Kobayashi is the best sushi place in town — hands down. I did not like sushi a couple of years ago when I was taken there by my GF(wife now) for me to try it. I got the Flaming Playboy Roll and man, was I hooked! Since then, I’ve tried other sushi places around the country and have only found a handful that taste as good as Kobayashi. Great selection and prices, decent atmosphere(it used to be a pizza place so, the interior isn’t that ‘Asian’ as much as it is still ‘pizza joint’) but, it’s almost always packed and the food is always delicious!

Gross. The chicken was slimy breaded, mass produced chicken knees that will talk to you through your stomach all night. I really hope Im not sick. Better sushi and salads at Miyagis or Sakura for cheaper, much better chicken and service at Taiwan Teahouse. Do yourself the favor and step above the generic Midwestern Asian cuisine.

A hidden gem that you must try. The atmosphere is intimate and nicely decorated. I’ve had several different types of sushi, and they’re all fantastic. The potstickers are delicious, as well. They have other choices besides sushi, and prices are very reasonable. The staff are also very friendly. An all around great sushi experience that I will continue to come back to.

What a hidden gem! My family eats here at least once a month for lunch. They have bento box and sushi lunch specials that will blow your mind. The bento box comes with soup, salad, tempura veggies, two pieces of sushi, rice, and the main entrée! Such a steal. The service is extremely fast and friendly, so if you haven’t been here yet, you must check it out.

This is truly the best hot and sour soup I have ever had! Cozy little Asian restaurant completely lives up to being a sushi bar and an Asian Kitchen. Usually a skeptic when it comes to restaurants with different types of Asian food, this restaurant really does it all well. My friend ordered the General Tao Bento(after watching the netflix documentary on «Finding General Tsao,» which came with two pieces of California rolls, tempura(2 sweet potato and onion), rice, and a salad with ginger dressing which came with a choice of soup. I ordered the sushi lunch special with a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll which also came with a choice of soup and a ginger salad. The shrimp tempura in the roll was still hot and crunchy and the roll we perfectly rolled, not too tight, but not too loose. Service was impeccable and it was the first time at a all-Asian restaurant where I was compelled to write before we left the restaurant. This place is definitely a must try and a must be on the list as a great neighborhood restaurant.

One of my favorites, Kobayashi is outstanding sushi at a great price! The Shrimp Tempura sushi is to die for, and the California Roll has just the right combination of flavors. There are also more adventurous oferings for those who want to get into eel and octopus, but I didn’t have the nerve to try. The salad is reminscent of hibachi joints around town, but with a creamier dressing that is just as tasty but with a different feel to it. Kobayashi also has great atmosphere and did a great job transforming the old Dick’s Boadacious BBQ into an Asian paradise. If you live in Noblesvil, you should be frequenting this place, and if you don’t, be sure you visit when you’re in the area!

Love this place! It’s my go-to sushi restaurant. Great service, staff is very friendly, excellent food quality all for a competitive price. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside and the inside isn’t anything special, but you will be happy with the food!

Love this place! To start, we had the coconut Thai soup, with shrimp, which was chock full of big shrimp and veggies. The large bowl was enough fill up our little bowls more than twice so we thought it was a pretty good value. My darling wife had the house salad that was also yummy… The dressing was slightly sweet, and we later found out that it is made with fruit. The main course was Kobayashi Roll(tuna, avocado) and an exceptional Dragon Roll(eel, cucumber, and crabmeat). These were absolutely delicious. It’s only our second time here, but I want to come back soon… maybe tomorrow! They have better prices for lunch. The waitress was attentive, friendly and accurate, too. On a Tuesday night, they had a fairly steady flow of customers. Definitely try this place if you like sushi… we were very pleased. Had a coupon for dinner which helped our pocketbook. Enjoyment when the kiddo was away at camp.

First of all when I went in to pick up my order the hostess who I was getting my to-go order from was way less than inviting. She barely said two words to me. When she handed me my change she didn’t say anything at all… nothing. Not even«Have a good day.»… I ordered 2 avocado rolls, which I thought sounded pretty self-explanatory. When I got home I opened the box and the«avocado rolls» had cucumber in them as well, which makes them kind of sweet. I tried a few bites and hated it. I called back and asked if I had ordered the wrong thing, and nope. Their«avocado» rolls come with cucumber in them. I guess it would have been nice to know. I’ve had avocado rolls at many different places and not once has it ever come with anything besides avocado in it. Also, their avocado rolls have WAY more cucumber in them than they do avocado… it’s basically a cucumber roll with a tiny bit of avocado. Complete waste of $ 8 and I will definitely not be returning. That was a first an last experience for me. If you ask me Bento Café on 116th street in Fishers is much better.

Favorite sushi in Noblesville. Service is quick. They have great soy paper rolls and vegan/vegetarian choices. The lunch specials are great too so suggest going for lunch if you’re looking for a deal. Will definitely go back :)

Had lunch here for the first time. The quality of the food is phenomenal. It’s true when they say you get what you pay for. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a must try and you’ll be hooked. The sushi is top notch. Even the soups are very good. We’ll be back again and again.

The soups are simply amazing– Thai coconut chicken soup is generously loaded with fresh veggies simmered to perfection and generous portions of chicken. A meal in itself. I love the pot of tea given to the table when ordering. Our sushi has also been excellent and our dishes generously loaded with veggies cooked to perfection and great cuts of seafood or chicken. What stands out from Kobayashi is the quality and freshness of each plate. They also have The Pink Lady, that classic 40’s cocktails inspired by our WWII interaction with Japan with a modern twist, a full line of Sake in varying price ranges, Japanese beers as well as many other beers and wines. Don’t let the exterior of this place and odd location dissuade you. Great service, upgraded interior, full sushi bar, excellent customer service. Prices are exceptionally reasonable. One of my favorite date night places to go.

We went at 5 on a Friday and it was clearly before the rush because it was filling up pretty quickly as we left. The booth was clean and seating was quick. The sushi, however. Nope. First, there was something on our plate that neither of us ordered, and so we picked it up and looked at it. It seems that they made some prettyish kind of plate decoration out of a dead crustacean and some noodles. Ok, my bad. But bleeecchhh. I got some of it on my fingers. And I couldn’t get the taste off of them. The potstickers were nothing to write home about. Pretty sure they came from Sam’s Club. Got the Kobayashi Roll, because we like to try the house roll all of the time and because we like spicy tuna. The tuna was sort of brown grey. The spicy salmon roll was Marsh quality. The sweet shrimp. If I have food poisoning, I am pretty certain what it will be from. The shrimp was slimy, and it wasn’t just some kind of sauce. It was absolutely not fresh. Gummy and slimy. If you actually like sushi, real sushi, do yourself a favor and keep driving. Normally, I would have given the place another try if I didn’t love the tastes, but the raw fish roll and the gross shrimp are going to be quite enough to keep me away.

Okay I have been here a couple of times. The sushi is good but not great. The service is efficient but well I thought it could be a little better. And it’s pricey I just don’t think for what it cost for the sushi and experience it’s quite worth it so it’s just really a so-so place.

Just went here for a bite to eat after an afternoon in Noblesville! I’m not a sushi person but my companions are and they got a sushi boat. They liked it real well, and was good sushi but not the absolute best they’ve ever had. I had the chicken udon stir fry. It was delicious! I love thick udon noodles and the sauce was great. My 1 ½ year old loved it too. Service could’ve been friendlier but oh well, not like they were mean or in a bad mood. Just a thought! Overall I live about 40 minutes away and wouldn’t drive to specifically come here but would definitely stop by when in the area. Yum!
